Re: Shot Button vs. Shot Stick

I have always used shot button for jumpers and stick for drives and post moves ... on 2k12 I started using the stick more but for some undefined reason (either me, most probably ... or the change on the schemes), in 2k13 I went back to use a mix, as stated before.

In fact, to me, in 2k13 I dont get the same results on drives as I did on 2k12, I just cant pull off the moves I want with consistency, so now am using the button on some drives too ... what I dislike tho, is to have to press 2 or more face buttons at once or in susesion, like circle, A, etc, in order to make some advance moves.

Am more interested on knowing the details of what might be added ... if something as symbolic/series trademark as the shot button could be sacrificed, we need to know for what or if it is worth doing so ... even tho you guys always bring good things onto the table.

I've been using the stick mostly but like the shot button. Is the stick more accurate? It seems like I miss more shots using the button than the stick.

I use the shot button for all my shots. I feel the most comfortable with this with the addition of the right stick dribble.

Re: Shot Button vs. Shot Stick

Since reintroducing myself to sports gaming with 2K11 I was a shot button guy starting out then after much practice the shot stick became my choice of shooting, but with 2K13 the added step of using the LT as a modifier plus in training camp mode all the shot tutorials are done using the shot button, you are not given the option to implement using the shot stick so I would sense that users go through training camp getting use to and remembering all the different shot variations using the shot button. To me the shot stick brought more a realistic feel to the game as if felt to me like pulling back on the stick was me squaring up and starting my shooting motion and right when I reach the top of my shooting motion releasing the stick and it just felt like I had a good follow through on balance and bullseye, 2 points. I think it also depends on user preference of choosing shot stick timing or real fg%. I have been a shot stick timing user the past two years and i recently gave real fg% a try due to the inaccurate feel that the shot stick had pre patch, but I'm getting realistic simulated stats with real fg% and I've had some of the most classic matchups to date using the shot button.

As a big man, shot stick.
As a guard or SF, shot button.

Normally I would use the Shot Stick, but this year is seems like more of a chore so I use the button. If I'm on a fast break or have a clear path to the rim I may use the shot stick.

Re: Shot Button vs. Shot Stick

only use the shot stick for post moves and more often or not I use real player %. To me the fun of the games is working the offense for the right shot in the right situation. That's the skill that should be rewarded vs. how perfectly you can flick a stick. To me when you don't use real player percentage timing seems to affect whither the shot goes in much more than if it's in the players range and how closely guarded he is. To me timing on the stick should be the least important of the three.

+1, i'm not a fan of the control switch up this year. I reverted back to what ever default controls i could after a couple weeks.

Shot stick...but uh...are you thinking of going back to shot stick exclusive and changing the dribble stick with pressing the LT again?

If you do please make it an option since I'm used to the new controls...

Re: Shot Button vs. Shot Stick

I use the button for everything. It allows me to get shots off quicker and more smoothly. I tried the shot stick at first, but having to hold the trigger along with the shot stick just ruined the response time on shots for me. I need that lightning-quick instant response, and the shot stick wasn't allowing me to get that type of quick reaction time on my shots. Especially in situations where I want to shoot on the move, or if I want to do a quick catch-and-shoot off of a pass, the button gives me that instant reaction that I want.

Once I started using the shot button all the time, I found that I didn't miss the shot stick - the shot button usually gives me the animation I want, so I don't feel like i'm missing any control. I figure - why would I want to use a more complicated method when there is a simpler method available to me that gives me the same results and in a quicker manner?

This is excellent feedback. Thanks and please keep it coming. For those that have asked... I'm working on something that I wanted to put in 2 years ago but many (including myself) felt wasn't ready for prime time. I'm pretty confident that you guys will like it but still need to work out the kinks.

Also, it feels like the player goes up stronger in the paint with shot buttons than they do with the shot stick. I forgot to mention that button responsiveness is another reason I tend to steer more towards the shot stick.
Seconded - shot stick is fine for jumpers, but in the paint it's cumbersome.

I use mostly the shot stick but there are certain moves mainly driving that I use the buttons for.
