I'm getting wide open threes with guys like Kevin Love, Gordon Hayward, Kyle Korver, Mo Williams, etc. and I'm getting C+ shots. I understand toning down the amount of made 3's that are contested, but if they're wide open, a 3 Point Shooter in the NBA is going to hit that 7 times out of 10. There's just no threat to the zone defense anymore other than midrange jumpers, which seemed to not have been touched. It's funny, because the midrange jumper is the worst statistical shot in the NBA, not the 3 pointer. Come on 2k, fix this. Fix the Euro glitch, and increase the probability of a wide open 3 point shot going in. This is rediculous.
Anyone else noticed a reduced 3 point % during online games?

I am currently revising my strategy. If I have an open three I will take on dribble up for a pull up mid-range jumper. I have like a 15% chance of hitting a three compared to probably 70% for the open mid-range jumper.
Where the problem lies is when you're playing halfcourt basketball, and it happens your 3 point shooter is wide open but taking the one dribble up puts you in a tough spot.
So awful.Comment

Has 2k released ANYTHING about the specifics of this shooting change? I just can't believe they just did the change all of a sudden without any warning.Comment

You guys go to practice mode and you'll see that shot selection is messed up there as well, you mostly get B for practice shot from hotspot with a 80-85 3pt shooter. Looks like it's the same shiz offline as well.Last edited by coffee'n'doughnuts; 12-23-2012, 07:41 PM.Comment

Re: Anyone else noticed a reduced 3 point % during online games?
Relating the five minute quarters to twelve minute quarters doesn't really make sense here. If you would like to take that same analogy, you would have taken over a hundred shots in the game and LaMarcus Aldridge would have scored 50-60 points in 30 minutes. These are also things that are as absurd as taking 40+ threes in a game.
While I'm sure some people complaining about the three-point decrease are "chuckers", who take bad contested shots, the majority of us on here are playing those people online. These are the same guys that sit in a 1-3-1 or 2-3 zone all game and distort the zone beyond recognition, which causes shooters to be left wide open from three. These are shots that need to be made more often than not; there shouldn't be a list of conditions that must be met for the shot to go in (i.e. perfect release, hotspot, wide open, in the flow of the offense, etc.).
The weakness of a 2-3 zone is that you are more susceptible to outside shooting and the weakness of a 1-3-1 is defensive rebounding and corners. Many Division III-level college teams will shred up a bad 2-3 zone, so NBA teams should not have that issue. Real basketball teams won't turn down 3-4 wide open threes in a possession to get a 17-foot jumper; that is absurd.
I'm willing to bet that when locked alone in a gym a guy like Ray Allen will shoot 85-90% from three-point range. Now, obviously that is different than being wide open in a game situation, but ask people that followed the Celtics or the Heat this year how many wide open threes Ray Allen has missed and they will be hard pressed to name more than a few.Last edited by btiberi; 12-25-2012, 01:09 AM.Comment
