Well I play MyTeam, not Blacktop...could have something to do with it. The game isn't broken or anything, I just find it ridiculous how stark the change is...you have to completely alter your play style.

Weird. Again, I find it very effective for me, and my friend who I told him to use it. I dont even have "Lockdown Defender" just "Pick Pocket" and my On-Ball D is maxed (95.) Why do I have better/worse experiences when someone else has worse/better experiences?

Are you talking MyPlayer or online matchup?

Well, I only play Blacktop + Quick Match. A dumb answer is "WELL, EVERYTHING HAS A SEPARATE SLIDER, MAYBE 2K WA SLEEPY WITH MYTEAM!" But then you know, it's a dumb answer. I don't know what to tell you. I had from being a 3 point specialist who can dunk PG to a Mid-Range Low Post minding PG during last week. Now I can be back to both. I guess we have to change a lot with 2K.

Don't you agree though that it makes playing on ball D really dangerous? Guys will just dribble in circles on the perimeter...it's not like you can just steal it, reach in fouls are so prevalent online...when you inevitably get shaken momentarily they can put up an "uncontested" three...I hate it because it almost mandates playing off-ball when "open" threes are a guaranteed thing. I much prefer playing good solid on-ball D, but it's just not smart online.

This is why I play zone defense and proud of it. Man defense is too broken and only effective if it's against the CPU or some new player.If you run to the side with Korver, even Jordan will get beat on the perimeter with man defense. I trust the zone more. When in the zone I only guard the ball handler to cut off drives with intense D or to manually double. Most people don't know how to set the coach sliders to help against the 3.

For example, In the 1-3-1 my help defense slider is below 10, This mean when you tell your perimeter defenders to play tight, they will play tight, zero sagging off to help because your slider is low.

Word. Just played a BT game where the guy won the game on a contested euro step 3 cheese. So unrealistic. I could deal with the set shots maybe, but when these guys are doing these ridiculous step back fadeaways like it's nothing, it just becomes stupid. 2K needs better judgment when listening to these arcade ballers spouting off on forums that they can't shoot their normal 75% from behind the 3pt line.

Isn't this a problem with the DEFENSE though? Not shooting...

The on-ball defense is mostly a JOKE....especially because you can just sprint horizontally and the defender can't stay with the ballhandler.

If you play SIM, you hardly even notice this because, honestly, who just dribbles with the ball sideways towards the sidelines?!?!?

I will tell you who...CHEESERS, that's who. Especially once they figure out that it CANNOT be defended. (Which is my definition of "cheese" BTW...finding exploits or glitches in the game that are unrealistic and exploiting them over and over)

So why does 2K program a basketball game that makes it so EASY to do so??

They need TESTERS....which I am sure they have....which means they need BETTER testers. Ya know...ones that actually KNOW a little about basketball.///

Ballhandlers can change directions too easily at full speed while defenders cannot and often get caught in clunky defensive stance animations. It's awful with the default settings and still bad even if you turn Defensive Assistance to 0.

All you need to do to BREAK the man defense in this game is spring sideways with the ball.....how stupid is that?

And how did NO ONE notice this while TESTING this game??

Yep...you nailed it. That is the problem with man defense. The offensive player just needs to move sideways and it's over for the defender.

Here is how i play defense in man to man on blacktop it isn't 100% effective but it helps me out a lot with the cheeser you

Hold L2 down just to put pressure on them and stay body to body as soon as they try to make a horizontal movement hold R2 down also it speeds up your players ability to shuffle from side to side and cut him off from driving or running all across the perimeter it works for me

the worst thing about the 3's is that it doesnt matter if the player's three point rating is 90 or 80...hes still going to go 5/5 when wide open...**** not even ray allen does that in real life...nor does novak. i hope they could just adjust these things so players actually differ in their abilities.

Umm this is why you contest the shooter and attempt to play a little thing called "defense"?

This has been in the game for at least three years, I don't know why 2K hasn't fixed this. They've basically gotten rid of virtually all the cheese of 2K11 but this game flaw has stubbornly remained for too long. At least in 11 and 12 you could defend it reasonably by having your defensive AI assist slider on 100 and holding LT all the time, but now we don't have that option any more.

I think the SOD ratings need to be decreased as well, because neither Novak or Kyle Korver are threats shooting off the dribble IRL. When people are playing with them on MyTeam they don't even sprint across the 3 point line, they just dribble left and right in the same spot like a moron until they get an inch of separation from the defender and then they fire. Either there handles ratings need to be lowered or 2K needs to put in some more animations where they have to dribble under pressure. They need to put some in the paint as well. Guys shouldn't just be able to casually walk in the paint as if they are just bringing the ball up.

As for the testers, wouldn't you want cheesers instead of the sim players, because then 2K could see how their game reacts to people who try to play unrealistically.

Well online is back to a joke again. I had a lot of fun the past week or so playing online, whether it was black top, team up, or ranked matches. Black top was perfectly balanced, but now all it has turned into is people sprinting around the 3 point line and jacking up a 3. Ranked matches took actual strategy to win and I enjoyed selecting my 3's wisely. I would only shoot 5-12 3's a game (still made 33-35 pct of them) and I would clog the lanes on defense (how real NBA is actually played). It was fun and the games were grinding. Now I just watched my brother play a few myteam games where he shot over 60 pct from 3 in both games by no ball movement or anything. I also seen Shawne Williams start the game by going 7/7 from 3. He couldn't even make that in a gym with no one watching or any defense I bet. Thanks to everyone who complained...

I seriously wish NBA live was relevant again, so the casuals could go on there or something. Now I can only play association mode on this game, which isn't a terrible thing, but I am a competitive person and I enjoy the online gaming of every sports game. It gives me a little adrenaline rush and some sense of competition that cannot always be found playing against the AI.

well i also didnt consider wide open threes being c+ grades not going in and im glad they fixed it now i can hit threes if im open the way it should be not just turbo and spam the paint the entire game like most people were doing till they fixed it

Sorry but that's not what they did.

They just reset the game to the old settings...what they needed to do was keep the new settings but ADJUST, notice I said ADJUST, the 3 PT efficiency.

The way it is now is still BROKEN...it's just a different kind of BROKEN.

2K can't seem to get it right....

Either you have horrible settings and too many 3's go in...or you have great settings and almost no 3's go in....

Apparently the "happy medium" many of us were looking for isn't possible.

Says alot about 2K and their BROKEN game catering to CASUAL players, cheesers, and little kids.
