    Re: Pump fakes getting blocked???

As for the pumps being blocked, ahhhh, to me its not that bad, in real life someone could (theoretically) poke the ball out of your hands at any time.

Does it happen too often? Tough call as it depends on how often you pump, settings, etc. But because I see that the CPU can do this quite well, I don't pump inside/around the paint too much now and rather do more up and under fakes out of the post, but now I get called on traveling much more than usual, should I turn off traveling violations?

I don't really think it's a matter of the rate in which it happens. The true issue is does it happen when it really shouldn't? And the answer to that is YES. I'll try to post a video or something. I'm guessing the guys saying it's not a problem have not had that "WTF!" moment which is fine. We just have to give some visual evidence.

This is purely subjective though and the rate is more important if it truly needs to be looked at from a programmers point of view. (Note: Instances where the defender goes thru any part of the body shouldn't happen but its a video game and nothing we can do about it, but I do agree that those are wack and frustrating.)

Also I have had that instance where I am like WTF just happened, but I just chalk it up to good defense (poking ball out)/bad offense. Is it annoying when it happens to you, sure it is, but I'd rather have this happen sometimes then not have the ability to lose the ball in those situations.

It doesn't bother me, cause I know there are ways to protect the ball, but more importantly I ask myself, if I was playing side by side with my bro and he manually knocked the ball out during the pump fake, would I be mad or have an issue with this?

It bothers me because i've played basketball and i know for a fact that when i've had a pump fake stolen it was due to a defender actually swatting the ball out of my hands when i wasn't expecting it. Not because their forearm or elbow or shoulder or side/back of their hand or whatever lightly grazed the ball. The way 2k implemented this is terrible.

Isn't the point of a pump fake to catch a defender trying to block your shot? So why is it that we get our pump fakes blocked? I think it's BS that people can block pump fakes, but then a guy throws down a dunk and someone's hand goes right through the ball...

Lol I agree with both of you. I think that's where people are getting confused. The purpose of a pump fake is to either get somebody to jump or get the out of position. When the defender is in the air, just because his body just so happens to graze the ball doesn't mean it should be jarred loose. What's funny is there are plenty of other instances where the ball is damn near attached to the ball handler. For example, dribbling. You can dribble up somebody's back as long as you're not turboing. Also passing, there are some passes that don't hit body parts the way the pump fake does.

this happens because its part of the glitch comeback system. ITS A GLITCH IN THE MATRIX!!!!

A COMEBACK GLITCH that is designed to make you think that "you" made a mistake and now your gonna pay for it. 2K thinks their fooling people with these automatic comebacks, its foolishness and fake.

Shadio5, if you where to make a youtube channel about 2K i'd be your first subscriber. I'am pretty sure it would make for entertaining videos.

                    Re: Pump fakes getting blocked???

Problem is often you have no control of whether you should pump fake or not!

Take for example the spin move. If you don't shoot, it's always a pump fake. Same with the hop step.

Just now I got blocked while staying behind the glass after a spin move, the defender jumping up after the pump fake while being under the rim, facing the other rim. How's that for realistic <_<

And I can't prevent it either. It's not like I can just do a spin move and not pump.

Nothing you can do, the issue I have been having now is I will try to shoot it after I do a move.

2K's delayed response to the controls or a slow/long canned animation happens, my player will pump fake then becomes a turnover.

IMO, it should be this simple, if you pump fake and your opponent presses Y, then it shouldn't come out of your hands!! However , if it happens where your opponent presses X, there should definitely be a chance!

Pump fakes are rarely blocked in real life and I understand what you are trying to say.

The problem is the pump fakes are being blocked by body parts and not the hands which should never or rarely happen.

I know what the problem is, it happens to me all time, and its completely unrealistic. However, the act of stripping pump fakes (with your hands) is realistic!
