Really think Rondo is a franchise player? A guy who can't shoot, doesn't play defense til the playoffs and passes off open layups for awful passes?? NO! He is absolutely not a franchise player. He has been in trade rumors for the past 3 years, including this one. I'd take many a point guard before Rondo.

Rondo is my favorite player and IMO should be a franchise player, but no one would consider him a franchise player because of his weaknesses. And he passes up open layups because he wants the assist. It's not a bad thing (most of the time). People look at shooting and scoring way too much now-a-days. He's an old-school PG. But to answer this thread, Kyrie is a franchise player in 2K.Comment

Re: True Franchise Players in 2k13
Rondo can't shoot. No, he is absolutely not a franchise player, in real life or in 2K. He led the Celtics to the 27th best offense last year. When he dominates the ball, the rest of his team-mates suffer. No PG who isn't able to run the PnR effectively because they have absolutely no outside shot, should ever be considered to be a franchise player. For the same reason, neither should John Wall.
Oh, and assists are an overrated stat anyways. The NBA inflates them. Rondo would be averaging less than 10 if assists were counted the Euroleague way. Rondo can't dominate a game like Chris Paul can.Originally posted by Dogslax41Most people that are asking for a simulation game don’t really want a simulation game because its too hard.Comment

Re: True Franchise Players in 2k13
I've already covered John Wall.
Optik and Thedoob cover my reasons for not having Rondo on either my 2k list or irl list. The Celtics have never won a Finals in over 10 seasons played with Rondo at the helm ... with the current roster or new help added. I can't justify him as an anchor.
re: Hardin - in 2k13, Hardin is a 6th man. The Rockets believe him to be a franchise player and irl I think the potential is there for him to show that he is in the next couple of years. In 2k13, Harden will always be handicapped by the ai, and until 2k14, I don't think he makes the 2k Franchise player list.
re: Paul George - He is very exciting both irl and in 2k13. In 2k13 terms, however, I think he makes the "elite but not Franchise Player" list. Even if you consider him a true Franchise player, with all the talent on Indiana surrounding him, Indiana still is missing an important piece of the puzzle.
Paul George is another in the position to show that he is at the true Franchise Player level and in a couple of years he might replace Miller as Indiana's last true Franchise player.Last edited by Taer; 02-08-2013, 12:29 AM.Comment

Re: True Franchise Players in 2k13
^^There's nothing shocking about it. The boy can't shoot. When he dominates the ball and pounds the crap out of it, the Celtics are a mediocre team. You really think if he was surrounded by scrubs that they would be doing anything but sucking?Originally posted by Dogslax41Most people that are asking for a simulation game don’t really want a simulation game because its too hard.Comment

Re: True Franchise Players in 2k13
Food for thought: Celtics are 6-0 with Rondo out. Even with key injuries, the Rondoless squad's ball movement and team assist rate is equal or better then with Rondo. D has been better in forcing turn overs as well.
Rondo is an elite player, but like Westbrook, he should be paired with a true Franchise player of Durant's quality.Comment

Re: True Franchise Players in 2k13
I totally agree with you on MKG with regards to the future... he is one of my first trade targets almost every start.
We can definitely make a "future Franchise Player" list and see people like: MKG, Kawhi Leonard, and Paul George rightfully take their places. This is 2k13's list - of course the irl one would be different.Comment

Re: True Franchise Players in 2k13
Rondo is shooting 46.8% from midrange. LeBron is shooting 40.4% (although with harder looks), Kobe is shooting 44.3%, Kevin Durant is shooting 41.8%.
Don't tell me that Rondo can't shoot. His 3's do need work, but his midrange jumper is solid and improving.Twitter: @TyroneisMaximus

Rondo is listed as .484FG% which is better then Rubio, Irving and Westbrook - and Rondo should rightfully be in the same elite category but not the irl Franchise Player List (Just as Kobe and Irving should not be either).
As far as 2k13, Rondo just does not do what Kobe or Irving does... and so can't be part of this list either.Comment

I did and I will again. Rondo can't shoot.
MKG can't shoot either. Neither him nor Kemba are franchise players.Originally posted by Dogslax41Most people that are asking for a simulation game don’t really want a simulation game because its too hard.Comment
