For me the ability to make his in-game commentary entertaining and mixing in his player's story (like K Spade) or talking about current things during the video(like Smoove). But I love when commentators use another game ,like GTA, or similar(I actually saw a guy use the sims for his and it worked) to tell their player's story and make up storylines with other players(like K Spade has done with Iguodala, and Griffin). And I like a commentator more when they interact with their viewers and use a Facebook/Twitter to let you know when they're uploading new videos.
Also my favourite, is K Spade, Smoove's ok, I just kinda get bored after a while with his videos.
I also commented on your Youtube video, and I had misinterpreted what you meant by commentators as I thought you were intending to do My Career, whereas an Association video series is a nice new change, it'll be interesting to see if you include a story and whatnot.

He has to have good knowledge about basketball. It makes me cringe when youtube commentators say something about a player or a team that is completely wrong

Chris Smoove is my favorite by far. I subscribe to a bunch of 2k commentators and most of them I don't watch anymore.

Just my opinion, take it or not, I don't like someone who only takes about the gameplay, it can get annoying because we know what's happening.

i REALLY cant stand guys who have an annoying voice, or have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to actual basketball or who just yell at the game the whole time

@thil, some suggestions

turn off in game audio or lower the volume,

be more emotional you sounded a little robotic and un interested

Thanks for the tips! I'm trying to work on my enthusiasm but my voice is naturally monotone sadly haha. I'll have to be extra enthusiastic next one then!

Anyone seen Shady's commentating, I think it's good. Also, love how he also uses his montage skills to add a storyline to his myCareer. Also, doesn't really try to cheese a lot, so that's cool.

Yeah you need WAY more expression. It's really key to really any type of presentation and it gets the viewer interested quickly. That's why Smoove is so popular because he uses so much expression in his voice.
You just sound like someone who said, "I'm bored so I'm going to record 2k." lol still good starting though.

you should try and emulate kevin hardlan, do that and you will get yourself a job on tv ^^


if i was commentatin 2k videos i would litteraly say things like "xxx with no regard for human life" all loud and excited when someone dunks.

or in a clutch moment when somones taking a 3 "rise and fire.....GOT IT" gus johnson status.

or if someone throws down a NASTY dunk, be like "I AM LEAVING THE BUILDING, then pause it" ^^kenny smith status

I still can't believe people are saying Chris Smoove is still the top 2K Commentator. To be honest, I feel he's been a cut and paste kind of guy with his MyCareer, just recording the audio and inserting "Lob City Music" on an alley-oop. I stopped watching him because I got sick of seeing the same thing over and over again.

But anyway, to me, the more annoying commentators (besides me) are guys like TheFlightMike and MoonlightSwami for 2K. Ever since the Sports CMM mess with FlightMike I can't STAND him and his voice, and Swami fits in more in baseball than NBA 2K. Guys I actually like that are rising or have already gotten up there are IKC's Association videos and Blackjack's Cavs Association. IKC was doing good on the MyCareer, but stat-padded, but the Association videos actually make me want to watch every video from him again. And Blackjack... he's a born storyteller. He doesn't need GTA or Saints Row to tell a story... he's got voice actors, branching ideas, and the perfect voice to keep you watching.

And to the OP, the first video I couldn't get past the first five seconds without being turned off. The second one is so much better, but you need to relax on your live comms. Try and have some fun, have some emotion, and being some energy. Oh, and don't bring TOO much energy... tried doing that for Online Association games and I got a headache listening back at it. Overall, you're improving, keep it up.

P.S. Get a HDPVR... Dazzles are NOT the standard anymore. They can actually set you back big time in the long run.

He's got over half a million subscribers. No other 2K commentator even has a quarter of that. It's not close at all. You can blame the fact that he plays on MyCareer so much on 2K, they're the ones who are responsible for online being so crappy.

Yea, I've actually clashed with Smoove in Online Association chats when he used to stop in a few times. First time I was just starting playing 2K Leagues and he came into our chat and insulted the owner for 20 minutes straight... the owner afterwards was like "NOW do you see why we hate Smoove?" The other time, he saw my GT in the chat box and went "Lmfao it's the noob with the weird voice, you're freaking hilarious!" Of course that was a slap in the face since I wasn't LOOKING for comedy. Overall, I actually have a really bias hate towards Smoove that only Sim Leagues guys would understand.

And I also agree he's a reason for Online being so crappy, as well as the cheese community growing. If you remember, he used to be a borderline sim guy doing WWS videos, which MADE people want to play sim to be with him. When he stopped, he started abusing the CPU in MyCareer! Now all those 'subs' that wanted to play sim are cheese. It's becoming repetitive IMO seeing him cream the CPU in MyCareer or being average at MyTeam. He's done more Fifa in the past week than NBA 2K.

But, I'm stopping it there. I don't want this turning into a "I hate Smoove" thread. Back on Topic as of now.
