Re: NBA 2K14 - Next Gen Reveal Trailer
this games looks amazing in motion as usual and the graphics leaves u with ur mouth open
but is it enough? not for me anymore i dont wanna watch a video game i wanna play, and to be honest i haven't played an nba 2k basketball game for a while now,it feels scripted and the control is disastrous to the point i dont feel like am in control
the response time between controller input and reaction on screens is frustrating most of the times as in many situations where the passer and the receiver is very close but to get both animations to line up the passer hesitates or a longer drawn out animation plays out to compensate for time needed for animations to line up.
defense in the paint is non existent and ice sliding around is rampant and unrealistic.online has never been a reliable feature and is feasted with players willing enough to take advantage of broken game play mechanics
i don't play association or my player but this game is more tailored for u guys who plays alone against the CPU..but for a guy like me that plays human opponents this game doesn't work as good on that front...too many AI assistance and it feels like constant intervention by the AI as if it is trying to regulate games to seem competitive even when both players aren't even close in skills and 2k know how
now don't get me wrong am just being critical about this cause i love 2k for all the hard work VC it puts in year after year and this video gets me hyped up as any one of u guys around here, but am just worried that with all that visual improvements and obvious smoother animations that we will end up with a game that is plagued by hiccups and frustrations as it has for me based in history for the last few IPComment

Re: NBA 2K14 - Next Gen Reveal Trailer
when am playing against my come over friends the weakest player can compete against my all out effort by just using the heats with his beginner skills....not only am I playing against him but am also playing against the AI,that is compensating for his lack of skills and be getting 80% of his defensive work done for him.....it's not a true reflection of player vs player outcome...
IMHO to me the more I try to play passing lanes and get my hands on the ball the easier it is for my opponent to score....the tip balls and so called loose balls are not really loose at all. they just end up rolling in the direction of another one of his teammates that causes me to end up in bad defensive position and most of the times i get scored on
like I said before I don't want to watch a basketball video game, I want to play it....it feels scripted to me and I prefer the program team over art team right now more than any ....we all know most games in dev spends more budget on art.....again am hyped about what the art team is doing...but I prefer to see what the programming team has brought to next gen when that time comesLast edited by kolanji; 06-12-2013, 07:34 AM.Humans fear what they dont understand, hate what they cant concur i guess its just the theory of manComment

Re: NBA 2K14 - Next Gen Reveal Trailer
noticed I said more tailored ....what I mean by that was the game is better off in player vs CPU mode....so guys that plays those modes won't be bombarded with all the hiccups a guy like me would have playing against human opponents.

Graphics look outstanding. Ray Allen and Kobe looked almost photo realistic at first. With that being said however, they need to fix those small gameplay issues that you pointed out, and finally pay some attention to association. They do all of this, and 2k14 will be great.Comment

+1
Resonable opinion: PS4 is less expensive and not as restricting regarding to used games --> I'll buy that one then. Like it better than XBox.
Not that reasonable opinion: PS4 rules, Cable Box sux. PS4XBox

Re: NBA 2K14 - Next Gen Reveal Trailer
But if you want to get kids excited for 2k14, it's better to simply plug in a star athlete than mentioning facts about the game. Now I know the very moment I refuse to go nuts about the trailer, I'm pretty much "hating" by default.
But still...right now, all we know about 2k14 is that the graphics are going to be great. That's it. Not enough at least for me yet.
The game could be great, but also disappointing, no way to tell yet.
Preorders mean guaranteed revenue regardless of the quality of the full products, that's why there are 2 Lebrons talking to each other in the trailer. Enough for many kids to press the buy button without any further thinking. And that's cool with me.
But it's also reasonable to voice negative feedback about the information we have for 2k14 right now.
I agree that facial expressions aren't that important to the game. But is Lebron on the cover worth more? Does James telling me to buy 2k14 impact game design? Or a shoe website? More dunks/getbacks?
It's all about hype right now. Appealing to emotions to get as many preorders as possible. There's nothing wrong with that at all. But I think it's reasonable to say we don't know sh*t about 2k14 besides it's going to look great graphically. How it'll play? Nobody knows. So no hype for me.Comment

Re: NBA 2K14 - Next Gen Reveal Trailer
LMAO at the fact people can't just appreciate a 1:00 minute teaser trailer which highlights a major enhancement one would expect from one generation to the next; GRAPHICS. That was the theme of this trailer, graphics. Yes, sure A.I., gameplay, modes, classic teams, etc. are all critical aspects to how good NBA 2K14 will be. But can this trailer just be appreciated for what it is?
We have no game information at all yet, that will come. I don't know about anyone else but when I think "Next-Gen", I expect a significant step up in visual realism and that is exactly what we are seeing in even a pre-alpha version. I am sure things like the size of Lebron's mouth when he yells can and perhaps will be modified. Many of us complained last year about visuals, movement, etc. with 2K13 and at least on Next-Gen, it seems like that concern has been sufficiently addressed.Comment
