        I don't think they do.
Why? They gotta no cheese shirt up on the MyPlayer store. Haha. JK.

yes. spin layups, dunks/up and unders/self oops/ NBA Jam traffic dunks/3 point shooting/euro, hopstep jumpers/etc etc.

there is no question about it, NBA2k13 promotes cheese. whether or not 2k did it on purpose should be the question. I have to think it is. most of this stuff wasn't even an issue in 2k11 (I think there were less than 5 or 10 players with a 3 pt rating over 80 in 2k11), they're probably just trying to squeeze everything they can out of the casual fans.

              Re: Does 2K promote cheese?

2k13 online is a complete abomination and mockery of basketball, the developers should be embarrassed for putting it out.

From the Euro Step 3, to the fading three pointers, to the overpowered 1-3-1 zone, to the disgusting dunks in traffic. And that's online ranked, don't let me get started on My Team which is a damn dairy factory.

2k13 online has been the worst online experience I have had so far since playing 2k10. Ok you guys want to adhere to the casuals? That's fine. Let them have the ability to turbo with the LeBron and dunk on my team but at least give me the ability to send his **** to the 10th row if he tries to do that.

The defense in this game is a good ten notches below the offense.

And why the heck won't you guys implement a better pause system? How many times do I have to deal with some ******* child pausing his game and replaying his dunks and scrolling to the quit button telling me to quit? It's the little things man.

R.I.P to the long two point jumpshot. I wouldn't say they are trying to promote cheese. Just catering to casuals which is lame I bet anyone can pick up a controller use the heat and beat a sim player by dunking all the time with lebron and doing that cheese bankshot with wade

                  Re: Does 2K promote cheese?

The last two statements sum everything up for what I've been saying so far. They literally went a whole year without addressing any of these core gameplay problems. Now with the Next-Gen consoles coming I'm not sure if they have more than enough resources to get these things cleaned up, i really hope they do because just great graphics isn't going to get in done for a lot of us players that want a great all around experience from a quick ranked and to the SIM leagues. Here is some solutions to what most of us want.

Lobbies with a system that would keep players bound to a lobby by skill/stats would be good. For example after a collection of data over 10-20 games 2K could determine your play style by all your stats. players not passing the ball and constantly abandoning mid range and post play would most likely be a casual player and all these type would be placed in the casual ranked lobby.

Players with good ball distribution and a well balanced offense and a high percent of on ball defense would be placed into the Hall of fame/SIM lobby. All players in between can be placed into a neutral lobby or something.

If 2K cannot do this then at least add to the ranked game types with a description of each and all with sliders and difficulty to match the play styles.

                  Quick - Casual - 5min qtrs - casual sliders - Pro
For players that just want to have fun.

                  Quick - All-star - 7min qtrs - default sliders - All-star
For players looking for balanced fun.

Quick - Simulation - 9min qtrs - Simulation sliders - Hall of fame
For players looking for a more authentic play style and game play.

You want solutions there you go. Either way the rosters, ratings, mechanics, Physics all need fixing.

Yes they do. The have definitely gone from the basketball sim from the early-mid 2000s that I fell in love with, to this arcade-esque abomination that we play now. 2k is so animation heavy and unrealistic. Way too many 3's going in, and way too many dunks in traffic happening. And they continue to let this happen with all these new dunk animations that cant be guarded, so they slide your players out of the way. I've honestly grown tired of it, and realized that maybe 2k isn't as good of a basketball game as we thought it was. Its a great ARCADE game for people that dont mind the issues, but a lackluster simulation for hardcore basketball fans.

                      Re: Does 2K promote cheese?

Ive lost two matches via gamewinners from and1 layups where Bill Russell's hand went right through the ball...

One of them was a gamewinner by Stephen Curry where Russell's hands went through the ball twice, once with his right hand then his left...

The other was a gamewinner through Russell's hand with Isiah Thomas...

Pretty stupid when an 11 time champion and one of the best shotblocking defenders in the history of basketball cant register an obvious block in a game where Stephen Curry is apparently GOD...

What more can you do than time the shotblock and watch your players hand go through the ball to not have it register... the block animations need to be fixed greatly in the next 2k... Its very difficult and close to near impossible to block dunks... Very friendly towards cheesers...

When you see almost 100 % of players offense coming from 3’s and drives in the stats shown before the game, you know your in for a headache.

The worse part is it would be so easy to for 2k to fix most exploits !

First of all take out the Onfire feature. The last thing this game needs is an Onfire Carmelo or Lebron. It would also fix part of the three point cheese.

Second of all do not allow across those crazy cross-court passes. Just make most passes above a certain distance go out of bounds.

Third lower the three point percentage and long jump shot success.

I like to play realistically and I was having problems for years in Madden with Hail Marys and cheese scores on punt returns. They fixed it and most cheesers went away and I can now enjoy most of my online games.

Of course it would be impossible to get rid of all the cheesers but at least with these fixes it would take care of most of them.

Hahahaha! It's funny because it's true! I agree with you 100%. It's sad because there's so many good things in 2k13. It's just so fundamentally terrible that the most novice player can compete. The cheese options have actually INCREASED since last year. We're going the wrong way! Like, seriously, whose idea was it to allow players to do up and unders w/ little to no contact what-so-ever? He needs his job taken from him...

Up and unders can be stopped 99.9 percent of the time by holding the left trigger....

You can force contested shot animations by staying in front of your defender (or sliding over with a big man) and holding the left trigger. This stops the "dunk fest".

The zones are a legitimate issue.

3 pointers are an issue if you aren't disciplined. They are a complete non factor if all your opponent is doing is dribbling side to side before chucking. In that case put your best on ball defender on the one taking 3 pointers and let the CPU handle it.

If you have complaint about up and unders, dunk fest cheese, etc make a thread and get alabama rob, chia, or even myself to help you. Hell, I'm on damn near 24/7 and I can show you how to stop it from happening if it's a problem.
