Yeah after 4-5 years it can become a bit tiresome. Furthest I've gone is into 2019 where alot of the players in their prime now are just making up the numbers on your rosters

Alot of comments here on how it gets boring because of the 2k generated classes, well why are you using them in the first place? CWsapp has 7 classes out so far which you can use.

And not to advertise my classes, but I have 4 classes out for Xbox as well.

There are plenty of draft classes on OS that can help you keep interest in Association.

I've gone pretty deep (2040 season and a bit beyond).

For those saying it gets boring after current stars retire, I respectfully disagree. I actually find the period of no current players playing to be the most interesting and fun aspect of Association Mode.

But that's because I basically edit every incoming draft class so that the top-10 players all look like actual human beings with actual basketball-looking accessories and signature skills/animations/ratings.

I wish the player generator was good enough to do this on its own (as it should) but since 2K hasn't put any effort into Association Mode for years, I'll continue to do the course-correction.

It's actually pretty satisfying creating a draft class and watching them progress throughout their career (rookie through retirement). And it would be even more enjoyable if Association Mode had story lines or cool additions like retiring a player's jersey or anything that moderately resembled real life.

But I guess watching President Obama in his 5th 8-year term in office congratulate your team (as created players with headbands still wear the headbands to the White House) is good enough!

Yeah i can vouch for these, as well as Aquaman's. So including Sapp's, that's at least 13 classes to keep you going.

They might not have jerseys retired but correct me if im wrong, superstar Generated Players once they are retired can go to the hall of fame section correct?

My friend and I are currently in the 2048 season. I can confirm that generates players can and do make the Hall of Fame. The game honestly does a solid job generating rookies over time with exception to similar likenesses. There are definitely a good amount of variations and recognizable players though.

We have had players play 19-22 seasons if they come into the league young enough (19-20). The salary cap goes up every season, so it does end up easier to stack teams with 5 90+ rated starters while having 75-80 rated 6th men and 70-74 rated role players. We find the perfect depth is 1 6th man between those ratings, and 2 role players between the lower ratings, to keep everyone happy.

We each control 2 teams, and play a couple games per season vs. each other. It's pretty fun seeing who can win the most championships over the years, and hell even with the stacked rosters the CPU teams still stay somewhat competitive and win titles occasionally. I can't stop saying how much I love this game (series).

Yeah I never understood why the salary cap seems to go up 2 million every year?^^

In real life it's only being raised 500k for the 13-14 season.

The contracts get crazy too. Max contract for a 10 year vet is about 300 million right now (5 year max re-sign deal), meaning players make 50-60 Million per season.

                      You're correct. I just don't think it's terribly well-done.

Over time the generated Draft Classes become more accurate and you don't really see anything crazy although a lot of the players look very similar.

I agree that creating a Draft Class and watching them from their rookie year through their retirement is fun. It's long, but it's fun. I ended up doing this and one of my PGs ended up with over 20000 pts, 10000 rebs, and 10000 assists. Another one ended up as the all-time leader in 3PTs made. One of my big men also ended up with over 7 1000+ rebound seasons and 3 2000+ point, 1000+ rebound seasons.

Haven't experimented with contracts so I can't say much.

                          I have a question.

I don't really like seeing computer generated players.

So as long as I keep loading up a draft class for the next season, I shouldn't see any computer generated players in my association? Is that right or not?

Correct! Before the new season starts in your association, it will prompt you to either have the computer load up "generated players" or load your draft class.

Great replies so far! Thanks for all the info, guys!

I'm looking forward to starting an offline association soon and build up a couple of dynasties. Preferably the Lakers & Knicks. For me, my enjoyment of the game stems from playing the offline association and building up a franchise once the superstar & real players retire from the game.

I know the computer generated draft classes are fictional, the players sorta look the same but with a few tweaks, you can generate an even toned roster to import into your association. I enjoy building up rookies into superstar and creating fictional back stories for them.

It really is fun to see how cpu generated players do over 50 years. I drafted a monster Center in like 2025 that was 7'4" 280ish, and by year 5 he was a 97 and dominating the league. He was incredibly fun to use too.
