    Hardly greatness, just physically gifted.

When you can out dribble a man, and the next, then penetrate and dunk all by yourself, like Kobe, then you're worthy of that 99.
Lebron needs tweaking down, hell he even got beat by a 15yo 1on1 on the blacktop!
And your logic is for a 99? Oh my bad I forgot your a Kobe and Laker fan, there is no logic.
    True bout my business, Mane!

Stop. I'm no LeBron fan, but I think any basketball fan can see that LeBron deserves his high rating. Besides his physical gifts, he is a great team player, great defender, and an all-around great talent. He has also improved multiple facets of his game since arriving in Miami, not to mention he's a four-time MVP and two-time NBA champion.

Kobe, by the way, probably gets a 94. That's even before the Achiles injury. He's still a great player, but facts must matter somehow, right? Don't forget Kobe is 35 years old () by the beginning of next season, is returning from a career-threatening injury and is not going to be the exact same player he's always been.

why does he get a 94? kobe just shoots! he has low rebound, assist, and steal numbers. he isnt a top defender at his position either. overall should comprise of scoring, rebounding defense, and intangibles. Kobe is just a shooter everyone sees that

He's a shooter with a post up game that not even lebron can defend. He deserves a 94.

man kobe a 99? he shot 32% from downtown last season, he shot 46.3 % from field, wasnt a top defender or rebounder at his position, average 4 TO per game, but he should be a 99??

dotn let the name " kobe " fool you like it does the 2k insider. They need a CPU generated roster system like nba live so the bias can be left out of the equation.

no one cares about lebron in this instance, kobe isnt close to a 94 anymore but of course 2k will overrate him like every other "star" kobe on defense , rebounding, steals etc etc is average. but taking 20+ shots a game while taking fade away post jumpers that get blocked by other SG's . No one deserves any rating its EARNED by what happens on the court

1.) Kobe just averaged 6 assists this season and averages 5 for his career.
2.) Kobe is always top 10 in assists and rebounds among Shooting Guards.
3.) Kobe has great fundamentals and intangibles.
4.) Kobe was a great defender. He doesn't defend well anymore to conserve energy on the court.

Obviously you dont like kobe so arguing this point is no use. But just cuz you believe kobe should be lower doesn't mean he should. Im not a kobe fan by a long shot, but he deserves at very least to be in the 90's, for the sheer fact that he is impossible to defend. If i remember correctly he was like a 97 when the game came out, thats obviously too high cuz they had kd at like 94, but still. IF kobe was easier to defend i'd say put him in the high 80's. But honestly this whole rating system is wack cuz i think tony parker is at like 84 when he deserves to be 89. and dwade is 92 and he needs to be 88-89 but i haven't checked the ratings in a couple of months so i don't know exactly what they are now.

So 2k13 is out something like 10 months now...and people still don't get how the game works? Arguing about who's "worthy" of 99 OVR? Player x "deserves" a higher OVR than player y?
Once again...OVR is a meaningless number based on adding individual ratings according to arbitrary formulas. It doesn't mean sh*t!

Is it really that hard to understand? I really hope 2k won't have the great idea to expand social media stuff, so all the 12 year olds could complain to them about "Kobe/Lebron/Durant/Melo/other favorite player is clearly a 99".

The best thing would be to remove OVR altogether. Why do we need it anyway? I don't for sure. Getting rid of OVR would force gamers to actually look at players strengths and weaknesses instead of blindly arguing about a singular meaningless number.

This^. Although, removing overall altogether would take out a quick rating to see just what area a player belongs in.

Honestly though this overall debacle is stupid. Players play like them no matter the overall. Some could argue that melo deserves higher than an 86, which he has on my roster, but if people would just play a game they would realize that is realistic. Melo should not be a dimer Andy a lockdown defender JUST so you can get him a 90. That's ridiculous. Ovr doesn't dictate anything llike he said. Watch someone drop 40 on you with nick youngs measly 73.. or tony Allen play d with his mid 70s rating.

The goal is to make players play like they do In real basketball.. not rank them according to someone's ridiculous opinion.

I'm so sick of these overall ratings arguments. Every year, someone always derail a thread with a Kobe vs Lebron comparison. Who f*cking cares??? Change the individual ratings and move on.
