Will the PC version of NBA 2k14 have next gen stuff?

Pretty much what the title says, will the PC version have next gen stuff in it or the previous gen stuff?

I apologize if this has been asked before, or if i posted in the wrong section.

No next gen as far as I know. Most likely the same half-a**ed low price port without any patch support like they did with 2k13.

I have heard on the internet that all games graphics are made on the PC on the highest def and then dumbed down to what it is on the consoles, not sure how true that is though.

Idk. I mean, PC didn't have All-Star Weekend DLC, MyCloset and didn't even get a patch last year. As far as graphics, it may be superior. But I'm sure PC users are gonna be gimped somehow again. They always are.

It's going to be like the 360 version since its going to be released at the same time with the consoles. Minus the DLC's and patches....

I wouldn't go as far to saying superior, I think next-gen consoles will take the crown with graphics, at least for the first few years of launch. PC will probably pull back.

I doubt there will be much to the PC version considering it makes NO money for them at all. They don't sell enough and the price is lower. Considering those factors, I would think it's no wonder there's little support for it. And it will come out around the normal time, and I don't their next-gen engine would be ready by then.

They should just openly say it then. We're not supporting the PC version. PC version isn't getting patched. Instead they just let people in the dark hoping that they will finally get anything and in the end they don't.

If they made a decent PC online platform and gave the PC version the same features as console aswell as something like an online pass to prevent the downloading of the game they'd make money off it, why woudn't they?

You can mod the game and make it 1000000x times better than the console version and it's usually cheaper. But, if all you're into is online play then you're better off with the console version.

Games are developed on whatever environments developers want. This is mostly going to be Windows PC, Mac or Linux PC. Developers work with source code, which doesn't care what hardware sits below it. It is only when the code is compiled that it matters, and code would likely be compiled to dev kit consoles using tools supplied by Sony/MS, or third parties.

So games are built on PC usually, but they're not built *for* PCs necessarily. From day 1 the graphics and engine is aimed at its audience - if that's console, then no, games don't really start like PC and then get dumbed down. That is just extra work. However, they may start less optimized, and over time need "dumbing down" to run at an acceptable frame rate on retail console hardware. Keeping on top of things like memory consumption and CPU threading can be a juggle of a process and during the development phase, may start to get a little out of control before needing to be reigned in.

As for 2K14 PC - it is coming out at the same time the 360 and PS3 versions are (apparently). IIRC, last year there was a late delay, but even so, it is being aimed at a current gen release date so therefore it will be current gen. The chances of 2K launching their next gen engine on PC is effectively 0%.

Yeah I understand that but there are also gameplays issues with the game out of the box. Can the modders fix thoses?
