NBA 2K14 Features Crew Mode - 3-on-3 or 5-on-5

2v2 isn't a real simulation of basketball neither is 3v3. Like I said, watch Crew and then watch Blacktop Mode. Way easier to score in 3v3 and a big part of the reason is because how much space is on the court.

Basketball was really meant to be played with 10 players on a court. Sure you can play a 3v3 or whatever, but it's not a real simulation of basketball.

On what grounds does it make it a standard that sim only applies to 5v5? Wasn't basketball made originally 9v9? Its playing sim that's more important, and like you said, you can play sim 3v3, because i think what you're trying to say is Emulation.

Emulating what you see and how everything works, rather than being sim and doing what individuals do.

I don't know what it orginally was, but it's not 3v3 and I know it's been 5v5 ever since I've been watching. I said all that was needed in the first post. Way too easy on a big court w/ 3 defenders.

Yeah that's Emulation what you're trying to say. Cause its why you mimicking what we see instead of focusing on one object like a player.

Emulation is the process of mimicking the outwardly observable behavior to match an existing target. The internal state of the emulation mechanism does not have to accurately reflect the internal state of the target which it is emulating.

Simulation, on the other hand, involves modeling the underlying state of the target. The end result of a good simulation is that the simulation model will emulate the target which it is simulating.

Though I could be wrong...

Fine by me, you can define basketball by how much players there are rather than playing style.

Basketball to me is where you play trying to beat an opponent using multiple of strategies.

Pickup/Streetball is free style basketball.

You sited a "basketball" definition from wiki, and I went with that. It's a videogame, but it's also a simulation. So we are getting our reference from the real sport.

Just sayin there's nothing realistic about the format of crew that you're saying. That's just a fact! Having CPU = artificial. And yes, quickmatch FORMAT is more artificial because there's CPU. I'm not making this up I swear! All I'm doing is looking at how basketball is played in real life, and the format it's played in. And if this is a true simulation, the format is 5on5 humans in the first person POV. That's how everyone experiences it in real life, and that's how crew should represent it. That's like the MAIN thing that differentiates teamup and crew from quickmatch, yet you're making it sound like they should be the same. My player co-op doesn't = crew. CPU-less 5on5 format = crew. You may disagree, but you'd be disagreeing with the format that is used in REAL basketball.


* my hunch is that dudes are more upset there's no CPU not because of enough ppl on friends list, but because they won't have dat sweet CPU cheese to fall back on. Seen that all too often in 2k11 crew.

No, that's the most common why to play basketball, not a rule. Its a standard, but not really a rule/law/whatever.

And the argument was CPU, realism, and 5v5, CPU aren't humans, they emulate what they player they are taking control as based of tendencies and stuff, but they aren't as good with humans. Cause humans always do better with humans.
