Re: NBA 2K14 Feature List Revealed
Didn't LD2k say that they had a "productive" talk with 2k Insider? I'm guessing he's still doing the damn roster update and just uses a different site....
Like I said in an earlier post I'll believe it when I see it....Comment

Re: NBA 2K14 Feature List Revealed
For ratings, bballreference or even just the basic shot locations on hoopdata are more than enough if the "insider" knew what he's doing. I mean you still have to watch the games. But you need someone who knows a bit about basketball for that. Still don't know whether rosters are updated by one "insider" or a "team". Ld2k has said both things, that's a bit confusing to me.Last edited by mango_prom; 08-16-2013, 08:04 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K14 Feature List Revealed
I'm liking what i've read so far as the gameplay improvements, but really, my purchase, as ever will be based on the classic teams. If they've removed any or watered it down even more since 2k13 then it's a no no.-----------------------------------------

Holy crap! Lovin reading things like this.. seems like they went ALL gameplay this year. Little disappointed as it seems the association was completely ignored again. Bit that's actually fine if all of these gameplay improvements show to be the real deal!
I'm hype.Comment

Maybe the productive talk was taking him off the project all together.. the most productive thing he could do is stop being a roster updater.Comment

Additions and gameplay improvements sound great and I love the idea of crew but for the first time ever...2k will not be a 1st day must buy game for me.Comment

Re: NBA 2K14 Feature List Revealed
100% agree. I don't think I played a single game with current rosters in 2k13. All signs point to no classics. The LBJ mode (all modern teams), euroteams, MJ's contract expiring with no word on it being renewed (gotta think that would be news). I don't have much faith in classic teams being in this season.

Re: NBA 2K14 Feature List Revealed
I have a question about the dynamic rosters.
If they work the way we all hope them to work it will be amazing! Players will hang around the areas of the court they are meant to, they will take the kinds of shots they are meant to!
My question is, because the system is powered by Stats Inc, and only about 12 teams have Stats Inc cameras in their buildings, does that mean team who are not working with Stats Inc will only have living rosters based on games in a Stats Inc building.
For example the Celtics DO have Stats Inc in the Garden. Great, so they gather data every home game and that will be applied to NBA 2k14.
The Denver Nuggets DO NOT have a partnership with Stats Inc (so far as I know), so will the nuggets players' rating only deviate when they play a game in a building WITH Stats Inc. Ie when they play the celtics?
This does seem like the best addition I could ask for (NO MORE 2K INSIDER with his 2 changes per month!), but I'm just curious as how it will work!Psn: Alabamarob

See...this is what I was talking about earlier - pre-emptive outrage. What's the point of it? What signs point to no classics? It's almost as if you don't want there to be classics so you can be offended. People are so often looking to be in perpetual outrage or take offense in as many things as possible.
I also never believe people when they say they won't buy the game if 'this feature" or "that feature" isn't in the game. Really?! You're not buying it? You'll stick with 2K11 instead of buying 2K13 because crew isn't in? 2K13 is miles better than 11 or 12.
I judge each years game with when i stop playing and wait for the new year. 2K11 - June 2011ish, 2K12 - March 2012ish, 2K13 - I'm still playing it...
I'm curious about the next gen version and whether it's worth it to wait almost 2 months. I have to imagine that it'll have everything the current gen version has and more (i know, i know the Crew video says current gen only).Comment

I know what you mean. LD said that they're not touching the classic teams and really, why would they take them out? Pre-emptive outrage is a great term for it. Let's take a look at the gameplay and full dev insights and then maybe judge it.

For instance, as a huge classics guy, I'm always hoping for that angle to be built upon. My big hopes are always for more classic teams. My lesser hopes are for at least a truly thorough selection of retro jerseys, maybe classic courts, the return of the already-implemented era filters, old rules options, etc. I fully acknowledge I have no idea whether any of that will make the game this year. But when features are released and there's absolutely no classic reference? It's not exactly encouraging, so speculation on the message board abounds. I think others respond in a similar fashion when their hopeful additions are left up in the air as well. Naturally, some of that speculation becomes a little misguided and pessimistic at times.
Regarding not buying a game due to the absence of a feature? I can vibe with that. I've never done that to this point, but I can definitely understand the thought process. In fact, in hindsight, I may have been better off passing on 2K13 and just playing 2K12 throughout the year, since my primary gaming angle (classics) were a lot more fleshed out last year (more versatility, a mode specifically for them, a lack of roster freezes after abundant creations and edits) while the gameplay itself seemed similarly frustrating from one year to the next.
Also, I'd personally like it if I could judge a game before I spend $60 on it, not only after I've spent a year trying to enjoy it. Alas, I am my own worst enemy, as NBA 2K has been the one automatic purchase for me the last ten years. I feel I'm leaning closer to potentially using more discretion in the future though.Last edited by VDusen04; 08-16-2013, 02:44 PM.Comment
