Are playbooks and play types done as well?

Ha, yes, I actually downloaded that roster a little while back. I did, indeed, enjoy it. However, there may have been just enough finnicky issues to drive me back to 2K12. They were first world problems, mostly (i.e. lazy issues on my part I had about very small aspects).

It looked like RayRay did the best with what he had, but the mix of inconsistent accessories, accessory color, some player likenesses (I couldn't make myself believe I was using Lindsey Hunter, whose version may be bald, and Corliss Williamson), iffy signatures, the lack of some of the DLC jerseys found in 2K12 (Sunblast), the separate roster one had to load first so as to prevent freezing (then the game would still sometimes freeze), and all replays being unsaveable (again due to freeze) combined with my ever-growing disdain for 2K13's inability to play defense kind of left me feeling a little burnt out, not really wanting to dive in to these rosters on a regular basis.

To re-iterate though, RayRay did a great job. I just happen to prefer portlandblazer's work. Sometimes I like when rosters leave a little bit for me to tinker with and improve, but more times I like when a roster somehow manages to cover every single nook and cranny, and portland's 2K12 rosters seem to do just that. It seems every time I ask myself something ("Hmm, yeah, but I wonder if he accounted for the fact that Larry Nance changed his jersey number for this one year" or "Yeah, but did he add the minor dunk package to account for that one slam Billy Thompson used to do?") the answer always seems to be a resounding "yes". I always found a bit of comfort in being able to pick up and play his rosters knowing everything was absolutely air tight, DLC worthy (his Chris Gatling looks realer than Chris Gatling).

I hope there are more classic teams added to 2k14. I would really love to play with and against a young versions of Karl Malone, John Stockton, Patrick Ewing, David Robinson, Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton. Also a Grant Hill led Pistons and Glen Rice led Hornets or Heat would be really nice additions as well.And of course a Charles Barkley led Suns or Sixers and Reggie Miller led Pacers would be icing on the cake. If we can't get a '93 Suns team, a good alternative would be a late 80s or early 90s Suns team. Please 2k the only reason I bought 2k for the past 3 yrs is because of classic teams period.

Look, I like the classic teams as much as the next guy, but...if there's even ONE missing player, you know people here are going to raise a fuss.

Of course I know why players go missing in the first place: 2K and VC couldn't agree to a deal to use their names and likenesses (to the point of rendering them unmentionable in commentary, like what happened with Chris Webber).

So, my question is, why doesn't 2K just use classic individual players, instead of entire teams?

That's what Madden does--you can play as any of the available legends, AS ROOKIES, with their attributes lowered to the points they were at upon entry to the league. In fact, 2K did this in 2K11 with MJ: CAL, and I loved it.

Yeah, it will suck to lose the rest of the players on those teams...but you have to look at this from a practical perspective.

2K has to negotiate with each individual player to use them. Remember the fuss that was raised when the Dream Team was announced for 2K13, but it didn't have Scottie Pippen? That's because they couldn't agree to terms.

Of course, the fans then deluged Pippen with emails telling him to sign on, and he wound up doing so, but do you really think this will work with every single player? It didn't work for Eric Snow of the 2001 Sixers--and we OSers wound up complaining about him being missing.

If we want classic teams, it's all players or no players. But does anyone here really want to play as Mel Counts? Seriously?

So I propose that 2K only negotiate with the stars that we all want. That way, they might actually SAVE money in the long run, by not bothering with second/third-stringers no one wants to use anyway. That would allow them to go after guys like Kareem and Webber again, as well as have some extra money to use on others like Reggie.

And most importantly, have them as rookies. I want to know if a rookie Wilt Chamberlain could still rock the house like he did in 1959.

I'm sure it's too late to do it this year, but I can wait another year.

Great analysis...I would pay an extra $10 to $15 for complete well done (art wise) classic teams from 70's to current teams (late 2000's)

I'd even be willing to pay a few dollars for each additional team. For example:, say they had the 2000 Raptors for download on PSN for like $ 2.99....I'd buy that.

Or they could even bunch teams together and have little retro download packs of 2 or 3 teams each.

Really? I wonder why they would not want to do that? It's just more money in 2k's pocket and covers costs to have those players on each team signed too I would assume? I'd think this would be a great way to keep classic teams in all future titles. Not sure I'd put a price point of 2.99 but maybe 1.99 or .99?

They could sell seasons or teams and I'd definitely buy it... it should at least be considered, especially for us fans of older seasons.

I'm sure it'll never happen, but I'd love to see the WNBA packaged into future 2K releases. maybe cap their speed, quickness, power, dunk and vertical ratings at 75 (this, along with their lack of height, would help produce realistic outcomes when you put them against men's teams). I imagine there wouldn't be much of a price on the license either


I'd get a kick out of beating somebody with a WNBA team . Or throwing Candace Parker onto a MyTeam roster. Or seeing if Brittney Griner can hack it in Creating A Legend. Or just doing WNBA vs WNBA.

One potential mess I think of is who get's to decide which teams are free and which one's you should pay for ? Some users may feel like Hey I didn't ask for the free Euro teams, you keep them and give me 14 free teams LOL. OR some may feel like how do I get the bulls 98 for free but have to pay for a pacers team ?

Might not be worth the headache. These are just my thoughts or why open pandora's box.
