No 2k13 sig skill influences tendencies as far as I know. Here's a breakdown of all the effects, I'm pretty sure they haven't missed anything.

The only things close to having an impact on tendencies are stuff like ankle breaker and post proficiency, which kind of change the odds of certain animations triggered for the defender. But the guy having the skill doesn't behave any different.

About Lebron...you're right. But finisher is in the game already. So kinda redundant. Besides, why does James need an artificial rating boost for being effective in the open court? Doesn't make any sense. He's good in transition because there's more space for him to accelerate and use his athleticism...which he always has. What a pointless idea. But kids gonna love it. Maybe it's easier to run fast in transition with a clear path to the basket than in the half court with 3 guys crowding the lane for obvious reasons...or let's pretend it's because during a fast break Lebron gets super powers in real life I mean if kids like this that's cool, but sig skills should be removable. That's big for custom rosters.

Re: NBA 2K14 - New Signature Skills Revealed, Including Pre-Order LeBron Coast to Coa

TBH, I only noticed the LBJ sig skill light up one time (that I can clearly recall). Coulda happened more, but just didn't see it.

LD2K said the DEVS took feedback from here to reconfigure the SIG SKILLS and re-balance them. Now if that is PR talk or not, it is what it is.

The LBJ SS will only apply to MyPlayers as I don't think anyone else in the NBA will get this, nor would they have this applied to them.

C2C, hopefully its not halloween candy. I don't think it will be overpowered, as, what constitutes a FB in 2k? Only way to get an idea is to look at FB points in 13 matches. 10-20 points or so, so 5-10 maybe 15 FBs a game? Somewhere around there?

Also you will have to have numbers in transition for it to be considered a FB, and in the demo build, the CPU was getting back. I only had a few instances to where I can specifically remember having a proper fastbreak.

So all in all, I wouldn't naturally assume to worry about it, lets, let it roll out, get some time with it and do as Czar has mentioned and get a thread going with proper feedback for the DEVS as we know they come on here for ideas/etc, and do our thing. This would be the most productive way to get what we want out of 2K.

The main thing that popped up in my head was posterizer, i assumed it gives you an increase in dunk tendency. Which is the reason why robert pack and others with very high dunk tendency will dunk on anybody without having to put posterizer on them.

And others could be highlight film, or ankle breaker like you mentioned.

About the lebron sig skill, it fits lebron perfectly imo. However i do agree it's a pointless sig skill, for the simple reason that the finisher part ONLY works in transition. I think the "finisher" sig skill works in transition as well, so i don't see any reason why anyone would choose to combine "lebron coast2coast with finisher" over "one man fastbreak with finisher".

Just to be clear i'm only talking in regards to mycareer, crew and myteam.

THIS! This is where I get frustrated! The validation of the system was that it made role players useful by accentuating what they did best without boosting their ratings artificially.

Welp...guess this means no current gen 2k for me. As many Heat players as I play online already, I can already imagine everyone sprinting up and down the court with Lebron all game finishing insane layups and dunks. I just don't see how this isn't going to be OP on current gen.

I really cannot wait for some next gen info.

Certain ones make sense. Like Chase Down. It doesn't tie into the block stat so you won't have a guy suddenly getting 2 blocks a game when they almost only block shots in that fashion like Nicholas Batum.

And certain ones there is no stat for like Microwave. I mean, there'd need to be a different interpretation to a player's shot consistency that means sometimes they can only make one or two baskets in a row to become on fire.

To get the same affect, you'd need to add a whole new attribute or tweak the way attributes are read, but then it would apply to everyone. I mean, Marc Gasol can block shots, but is he going to chase someone down?

That's why I said 95% of them don't make sense. Chase down is one of the few that does make some sense.

Microwave? Makes very little sense. How do they know who deserves that signature skill? What is this anyway? It's like Call of duty talk right there. Oh he has the 4th quarter signature skill so I'am gonna put a lock down defender on him to counter that... blablah. Boring honestly. It's not basketball talk, it's too video gamish for me.

edit: wasn't trying to sound mean to you man, I just really dislike sig skills.

The signature skills are necessary because the ratings and hot zones have been rendered ineffective by the way the 2k rosters have been built over the past few years.

When the majority of players have shooting skill ratings in the 80's or 90's, then nothing differentiates the players within the rating system.

My hope is that 2k restructures rosters completely and that their use of the Stats service will provide a much more grounded and effective way of building a player.

My fear is that 2k will continue to cater to the "My favorite player deserves a 99 rating in whatever skill I think he does" camp and that this will continue to distort player rosters.

The best rosters I made (those that reflected real NBA norms) were rosters that took away a lot of the ratings for every player - but if a Kobe fan sees that my Kobe Bryant is a 82 overall he/she will be butthurt just because 82 is not what they expect Kobe to have.

2k's history is not encouraging to making the ratings and hot zones enough to give the NBA players the individuality and uniqueness they deserve.

sig skills last year were just too cheesy, in my opinion NOTHING should boost a players shooting % higher than what he would normally be on an open jumper. shooting % is too high every year in this game anyway, now just because rondo passed to me I can have a boost in my shooting %?

Yes Rondo puts the ball where his teammates want it, but I'd rather have it decrease the defenses affect on the shot than boosting the shot%. There should be a max "best possible open shot" % for each player based on the spot of the shot, and no artificial boost should affect that any higher.

In fact I don't think raising difficulty levels should raise CPU shooting % either. players/teams shoot what they shoot for the most part, raise the AI awareness, defensive tenacity, and offensive playmaking etc to make it harder for the player...not by making the CPU shoot 60% every game. but thats another topic of course...

I agree that these should be used for role players mostly, as players who cant shoot are for the most part neglected and useless in this game.
