That's your opinion and now that's relevant to this thread.

I'm saying why should we value his opinion over a guy who has actually played the game . He said the 2k13 is the exact same as 2k14 , many of us are disagreeing because that's not what see and what we have read . Anyway Smoove thinks he's high and mighty anyway lol he will be right along buying 2k like the rest of us. He didn't give any pros just cons

See who is Chris Smoove doesn't matter here. He could be the HipHopGamer or my grandfather it woudn't change anything. The true question is: Is what he says legit? Are his critisisms about the gameplay relevant?

That's all that matter. Whoever he is, you like him or you don't has nothing to do with it.

And you did answer that in another post so that's fine.

Quick question, why is everything a cheese? Layup=cheese, driving the lane=cheese, shooting 3 pointers=cheese, playing zone=cheese, taking over the game with your star player=cheese. All I hear is, cheese.

what are you talking about? im talking about people are gonna bash the game without even playing and saying ignorant things plus I've ONLY heard good reviews from the people who have played the game ,but you've got a good point we are paying for it but every year the developers are trying to get you to pay for it in fact there doing a good job.

Dude why are you responding to everyone who takes issue with his video, I agree with some of the things he has to say, but he has not played the game and is basing everything off a video and not mentioned the fact that 2K revamped the controls, fixed the blocking added back crew, partner up with a new stats company, fixed alot of player models and shoots and added 3500 new animations but instead focused on presentation and boxing out as his claim that it is just like 2k13, which is just BS.

Lol come on. Off course he is since he is analysing a video. I didn't play the game either yet I can watch the gameplay and try to point out what I like, disliked or thought was wierd. Doesn't mean anything else than that.

                  Whatever.

Re: Chris Smoove trashes NBA 2K14

For me this game seems a quick fix on some 2k13 issues, that was probably abandoned 2-4 months ago by most of their team. Until we see next gen I'm holding on to 2k13.

I just feel that zones/blocking/euro3s should have been patched, for all I know the blocking code could be on 13 and not activating because of a last minute bug.

We need to ask more from 2k, do you know how many gameplay patches Bf and cod get? Myteam was bugged most of the year...

Go ask if someone will pay 60 for a guns patch....

13 is not a bad game, and is still enjoyable with beds roster, so I don't see this current gen being worth a new 60.

                      1. He was mostly right on the dribble moves. Other than the behind the back and spin moves, all the rest are almost the same for every guard-forward.

                      2. The Felton alley oop was player triggered. Kobe jumped at the pass off the glass but moved out of the way for the shot attempt so technically it was wide open. I don't really understand why that animation is still in the game imo

                      3. Rotation defense still looks slow, awful passes through a crowd of people still work (pass to Bargnani), defense didn't really look changed at all. We could already block layups in 2k13 so seeing some of those in the video wasn't surprising.

                      4. If a player hits a GW the crowd will go crazy. No one the crowd wouldn't sit still in silence and await the ref's verdict first

I think its funny how Chris Smoove critizes some things he feels should be fixed but 90% of the people on this forum can see a 10 second video and make a big deal out of fans not cheering loud enough and that was just 1 example

All sports games are fixes to pervious versions of the game that is what happens when you have yearly developmental cycles and it has already been said that they had 2 separate teams working on 2k14 one for current and one for next gen, but in all seriousness what were we all expecting for this years game one of the last for current Gen were we expecting all new player models, yes it would have been nice to see new presentations but what they have done should not be taking as them just giving up on this gen. EA already said screw this gen and focus solely on next gen, both 2k and EA know that first strike on next gen is important, 2K knows they could potentially control basketball gaming for the next 10 years so making 2k14 next gen should be their priority and making that presentation different for next gen will be an affective tool.

Cheese is basically saying things are not properly balanced, or done in a way where you receive unrealistic advantage or exploit compared to real life. Some of these things are not triggered by a user but when it happens there is not a counter all the time or a realistic counter.

The "leaning layup cheese", I never heard it called that but I know exactly what he is talking about. Basically it is going into an animation that can't be countered.

Concerning his complaints I find the pick, slip was a valid complaint, and the end game celebration was as well. He came off to me basically saying 2K14 is 2K13 with fixed leaning layup cheese, and improved paint play. I can't even take him seriously after spending time talking about the replays. I have seen better gameplay examples out of the Jwill demo and the gamescom videos and the CPU as well.

On that first play pick, roll , slip he mentioned nothing about the spacing, or how Kobe and the Lakers defended the pick bad, which the whole sequence is new to 2K and also this has been a problem for the Lakers in real life. Some of that went over his head or he choose to not acknowledge it. That play was one of the best gems of the whole gameplay.

I would be fine if they didn't release a current gen game. As thing stands most of us played 13 to the point that some new animations won't save the fatigue of keeping the same presentation.

As far as having two teams, they are just splitting assets that could be used on making a better next gen.

Oh and you shouldn't sell a game on fixing stuff that shouldn't be broken to start but on IMPROVING.

You may be fine with it, but what about the the millions of people not getting a next gen system in November, they are the ones that made 2k the company it is.
