Re: Best 2K games of all-time?

I really didnt play that much of 2k11 even though i had it , i played 50hours tops of it and i sold it before getting in depth with the game, now after missing out on 12 and 13 i came back to 2k14 and i love it , there are some flaws with it but its really best basketball game i ever played, what i wanna ask from people who played both 11 and 14 what makes 11 better over 14 ? Cause most of the people are saying that 11 is the best nba 2k game ever and now im pretty mad at myself that i didnt play it when i had it so im kinda curious why it was so good .
    NBA: Miami Heat
    NFL: Philadelphia Eagles
    MLB: New York Mets

For me it was the consistency I felt throughout the game which made me feel like every time I played I could improve. It never felt as though things were just happening at random and I had no control. (that's how 14 feels to me)

Also in 2k11 I felt like working hard on defense and offense was much more rewarding. In 2k14 sometimes I'll get a windmill dunk or alley oop and instead of being elated I'm so irritated by the series of events that led up to it I'm like whatever. It doesn't ever feel like I earned it, and that's not fun.

Among other things it had 5v5 pickup games and the crew mode was actually fun. I'm glad they brought it back for 2k14 but it doesn't feel like real basketball.

College Hoops 2k8 Career Legacy was the best game mode of any sports game. Sometimes, at the end of a long day, I cry because I miss it so much.

That game was so nice. But, I still couldn't put it ahead of 2K11 overall, but that game is definitely up there. Had so much fun with that game.

I put most of my gaming time into MLB The Show, the last NBA 2K I bought was 11. I played demos or rented the more recent versions, and they didn't grab me.

I put 11 in this winter just for fun, and I promised myself I would put a full effort of roster, coaching slider, and playbook edits for a serious 2k11 gaming session next winter.

                Great game.

2k11 was my favorite because the game was rewarding, the game didn't feel scripted, and the it never crashed. On 2k14, while it is a little bit cooler, crashes too much, has too many blocks, and the game feels too scripted... On the other hand, 2k11 was at times too hard and frustrating for me
overall, 2k11 is my favorite based on gameplay

I'll vote for 2K14. To me, the player skills make the older games harder to go back to, and playing this on pc, I'm having a lot of fun having so many legend rosters to choose from.

Picking the best NBA 2K game is difficult, especially since it took 2K 14 seasons/games/years to allow you to actually block dunks and layups. Also, NBA Live was the better game for the 2002 to 2004 seasons/games.

                        2K
                        2K2
                        2K13

The reason that I put NBA 2K at the top is because you have to go back in your mind to that year. The only memorable NBA games from that time were Courtside and Live. When NBA 2K came out, it was far superior graphically and gameplay wise. The original NBA 2K made basketball game players realize what a basketball game could and should be. 2K1 felt like filler until 2K2 came out and actually improved on everything the original NBA 2K exposed us to. 2K13, in my opinion had the most realistic gameplay of all the 2K Sports games. 2K11 is only good because of how well they implemented the Jordan stuff, but come on, the defense is non existent. 2K12 was buggy as heck, lacked any polish and felt like filler between great games similar to 2K1. NBA 2K13 accurately allowed a good/great defensive player to stop or alter the shot of any good/great offensive player. NBA 2K14 doesn't do this well. The computer can stop any player regardless of rating, however, you cannot always stop the computer regardless of your rating. Simply put: NBA 2K14 was made with the mindset to get the consumer to spend something to get something. Its the present day "filler" game because the next good 2K game will be 2K15. There is always a filler game in-between two good games.

                          Spoiler

What do you mean? I am sure it was only 2K13 where you couldn't block dunks. In 2K12, you could block everything and in 2K11, I loved their blocking system. Only bad thing about it was some of the fake cannimations.

Oh, and I can't believe you said you couldn't play D on 2K11. You could actually lock people all the way down if you were playing good defense. Only thing that couldn't really be stopped was the Hopstep and spindunk. The Hopstep wasn't that bad w/ regular teams because many bigs couldn't do easy standing dunks in the HOF lobby.

2K11 defense was Grade A to me.

nba 2k12 legends showcase, 1on1 2on2 and 3on3 was the most fun thing ever.

I began with 2k9 (when 2k came to PC) but i cannot really remember 2k9 and 2k10, so I leave them out.

                              - Best: 2k11 by a far far margin (had the best combination of good gameplay and functional online play)

                              - 2k12 was okay gameplaywise, though there were some really cheesy moves (pullup jumpers went in nearly every time with the right players - e.g. Gallinari). Online was horrific that year. It was the first year with the Online Associations and nothin worked. I remember how the first Free Agency was at 4:00 AM and beside 3 guys, who proposed contracts to the players before that, which wasn't supposed to be possible, everyone missed the free agency and those 3 teams got all starplayers (kings were 30 Mio over the hardcap and signed 5 Max-Deal players)

                              - 2k13 worked better online but still was much worse than 2k11. But that's due to the whole concept of online association and not being able to play friends). Gameplay was okay, too, if you leave out the unability to block shots (I blocked more shots by pressing the steal button than by pressing the block button...).

-2k14 is complete crap and by far the worst 2k I have played so far, in combination of gameplay and online functionality. Gameplay could be really good, if there was no momentum this crazy. I played so many games in online leagues and 90% of the games are the same: Team A gets everything going, Team B nothing. After that Team B gets a run, while Team A can't do **** to stop them...And so on till the end. Whoever has the last run will win the game... And online? You need to change your settings all the time, because the online association doesn't save them. Stats get messed up if admins reset games (sometimes stats totals doesn't get changed but number of games does, which lead to players averaging for example 50 rebounds per game...).

They have been better in the uneven years, so I'm still hoping that 2k15 will be on of the better versions.

2k12 is far worse than 2k14 , 2k14 IMO is the 2nd best 2k for last gen in terms of gameplay closes to 2k11
