OHHH I want that in the game!!!!!!"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed"

If I worked for 2K I wouldn't be able to keep from going off on people like Shepard does to that annoying reporter in every Mass Effect.
What is he supposed to say? "Uh, yeah. We tried to have practice mode but we are totally swamped and resources were triaged to more critical components of the game."
Gotta keep the train rolling forward.
If they haven't addressed something, it shouldn't be too hard to at least be honest and just say they haven't had time to improve it. Otherwise you don't know if an issue has been fixed until you buy the game. Then you find out it hasn't been.. And the cycle repeats the next year.Last edited by Melbournelad; 09-30-2013, 04:15 AM.Comment

Re: Next Gen NBA 2K14 to re-emerge by EOD Monday ?
Chris has a tough job this year.
He has to carefully reword around every statement because in reality, he is being asked to stand up for a current gen game that has had resources severely diverted for this year to next gen.
No fan wants to hear that the game they are excited for and have a console for is going to be a scaled back update. So he just has to keep diverting from that harsh reality to keep us all happy and excited.
He is honestly doing admirably. (This is not a toungue in cheek at all. Im just stating the simple truth, and Chris has done brilliantly.)
And until 2k14 on Cg has been in the stores for a few days....ANY cool info he gives out is a potential sale killer for the CG version. So you CANT be angry at the silence. They are trying to sell an inferior nba 2k update a few months before an amazing and revolutionary (apparently) update. So he's not going to say ONE word until as many of us has bought 2k14 for 360, ps3, pc.
Dont be angry at simple business sense.Last edited by idrisguitar; 09-30-2013, 03:59 AM.Comment

I echo this being well said and put. Being honest, I feel myself already questioning whether I truly want to buy the current gen version or not. I don't have a next gen console on preorder so I may have to, tide me over until the buzz dies down. Thing is that with GTA V, NBA 2K14 and WWE 2K14 coming out within the span of two months, I had to make a choice between two of them. I'm a diehard wrestling fan and my friends play WWE games so that's a no brainer choice. When it came to GTA and NBA, I chose NBA because I love the 2K games but hearing all of the talk about the current gen compared to next gen has me second guessing that and contemplating picking up GTA V on Tuesday instead.
I'll more than likely still grab 2K overall but it's a question of loyalty to a brand more so than hype for a game. Last year, I felt like 2K13 had a world of buzz to it and the changes to MyCareer and addition of MyTeam made it heavily talked about. This year, I struggle to think of anything that makes me want to jump on and buy the game other than the gameplay improvements and updated rosters. Especially hearing MyCareer is virtually the same, Association is and Path To Greatness is pretty much panned more than it's praised. Crew has never been a big deal to me since I never had online to play it for 2K11 so I don't care too much about that, especially since it appears to be an updated Blacktop mode. I don't envy having to be in a spot of having to make current gen sound exciting when it really feels like a month like transition before next gen.Comment

I bought GTA V it's a great game the best one yet but I haven't played it much this week. I'm much more excited about 2k next gen. Maybe because I'm a die hard basketball fan. GTA is a classic but I rather have 2k. I like wrestling but that isn't coming to next gen this year so I wouldn't expect it to be different.#1 Laker fan

I have the game and I could of sworn I heard he Brooklyn chant. Another thing that I picked up is when you cross somebody over badly you can hear the crowd go "ooooh".Comment

Thank goodness. I was worried the "next gen" news was going to be "both current gen and next gen will be integrated with the all-new facebook app."Comment

But again, you're right on point. He's a messenger, carrying out what he's been told to carry out, in a manner that's no doubt very deliberate and planned. It's surely not a matter of Chris Manning deciding in his own head that he's going to ignore questions that may have tough answers. I'd reckon his job description (in regards to forum interactions) requires him to only magnify the positive while leaving the negative to speculation.
So in that sense, my problem isn't with the messengers, it's more with the broad approach taken by the folks who make these decisions. I miss the honest and straightforward approach 2K used to take, with open interviews and whatnot where they weren't afraid to be forthright in what their game featured and what it didn't. From Operation Sport's 2K3 interview:
Operation Sports: Will there be a RPG style option like the one stated in NCAA Basketball 2k3? - If so, will it be lockable per game or season? (For this, ever thought about a first person view for your controlled player while sitting on the bench?)
Jeremy Tiner: No

See how simple that was? I prefer a deeper level of transparency than we tend to see from 2K these days. Whereas before 2K felt like a team showcasing a product they created (for better or worse), now it feels like a bunch of shills and salesmen trying to pull something over on us, even when their product has enough good things as it is.

Too bad we can't see any comments...I would wager there aren't any remarks about the work ethic of the developers, or their integrity because some of those features weren't available...Last edited by The 24th Letter; 09-30-2013, 09:19 AM.Comment
