Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread

I can't decide what position I want to play. I first picked a 6'10'' PF, but the rebounding pissed me off so I went with a 6'4'' PG. Not even a month into it, I was dominating the game, and my team wasn't losing. I averaged almost 30 a game, and I wanted a more realistic career.

I just started another one, a 7'0'' defensive Center. I'm not going to worry about my offensive game much, most of my VC is going to go into his defensive stats. Hopefully that will make it more realistic.

Out of all the teams, I'm pretty sure the Detroit Pistons don't need a Center...but guess who drafted me? Smh...Draft logic seriously needs fixed in this game. My PG was drafted by the Pelicans, who just traded for Jrue Holiday to be their PG of the future. Makes no sense.

You will enjoy playing big if you let the game take on its flow. let AI run its plays. Do not force it or call for the ball unless your wide open under the rim. rebounding seems bad but if you add vertical and rebounding attribute you should get yours. I have max vertical and 80 offensive and defensive rebounding and I get around 12-18 boards while playing 31 mins. there will be stretches where you cant get a board to save your life but keep at it. Its the most fun position in 2k14 I think.

Also trade logic is better. I (rated 72) got traded to raptors for hansborough(rated 70), unlike in previous years where lakers would trade kobe and howard to bobcats for me lol

I went with a 6'5 190lbs pass first PG. Drafted 9th to the Timberwolves. About 10 games in I was given the GM sitdown topic of "I'm tired of losing" or something similar. Ended up trading Pekovic and a 2014 1st round pick to Toronto for Rudy Gay, who has slotted into the rotation nicely. Wasn't happy about losing Pekovic though.

Trading Pek and with KLove injured at the moment (of course), Giogui Dieng (21st pick) has played some good minutes at Center along with Derrick Williams at PF. Unfortunately sometimes Ronny Turiaf switches with Dieng in the starting lineup. Rubio, unsurprisingly, has requested to be traded.

I'm about 20-22 games in with a negative record, but we're slowly getting it back to .500!

          Btw i'm a 6 ft 3 athletic PG
Yeah i got very similar stats to you, over 30 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 8 steals, 2 turn overs, and i got interviewed by orlando, bucks and suns - ended up going to the suns 5th pick not too sure about orlando :S

Thought I'd try something different this year and make a 6'5" shooting guard instead of the usual PF/C I usually play. Could someone give me some tips or a general how-to because I have basically no idea what I'm doing and can't hit jump shots at all for some reason.

I assume it's something I'm doing wrong because I've pumped shot mid and shoot off dribble to 80 each and I'm still averaging 25% shot accuracy every game. It's getting pretty depressing.

I'm doing everything I can to hit shots, I only shoot when I'm wide open and I have my feet planted so I just can't figure out why I keep throwing up bricks.

Go into practice and practice your jump shot. Its most likely a timing issue with the shot you selected for the player.

I hope they patch our teammates sagging off of shooters on the perimeter. It can be quite annoying. But anyways, my 7' all-around Center is slowly becoming what I want him to be. I'm still bothered by the rebounding, but I have decent numbers regarding that (I think I'm at 8.something rpg currently). Once I get the rest of my essential bigman attributes up to where I'm confident, my 4-12 PHI Sixers will be fine, and I think we can make a push for the playoffs, but I'm not seeing a Championship in my 1st year with them. Also, I think I'm going to need that rebounding sig. skill, because I get the ball tapped out of my hands be the bigs who have it, and I'd like to stop that from happening. Hopefully.

Decided to dump my previous Scoring SF, he was too slow and upgrading quickness and speed is impossible averaging 150 SP per game. So created a 6'3'' Athletic PG and got drafted by the T-Wolves. And right now, I wish I could punch Kevin Martin on the face, or the AI developers. I get the guy open for a 3 and he starts dribbling around, and sometimes he just waltz out of bounds. Other than that, getting assists got easier since I learned the plays that get Budinger open for a 3. My main problem has been scoring inside and turnovers. I've read somewhere that no matter how much you raise ball security, your turnover count will not decrease. And driving the basket is impossible this year. I couldn't even get through Fat Felton.

It's to the left or right of the basket, away from it is the Euro Step.

Made a 6'9 SF trying to make a LeBron (do it all) kind of forward.

Got my athleticism up and maxed out ball handling and security but even so I'm having a hell of a time trying to break down defenders. Not that I want an insane amount of success, but I'm averaging in the area of 6 turnovers a game because almost anytime I make a cut to the basket with the ball, the ball flies out of bounds.

I still am averaging in the area of 22 PPG from the bench and just earned the starting job.

Blocks and defense is really easy, but I do like desperation blocks on the help defense yield more fouls, if they didn't I 'd really hate to see my block totals.

The first attempt with this SF, I got drafted by the Thunder (?!) which didn't make any sense at all, but we had a power surge and I ended up redoing the showcase and landing with the Blazers.

Did that. It might have just been a crappy timing on the shot I picked because in the end I swapped to another release and my accuracy instantly improved.

I created a 6'6 All-Around SG that was drafted to OKC. It took me awhile to crack the starting line-up (19 games), but finally, I overtook Jeremy Lamb for the starting spot in the rotation and I'm really enjoying this team. Ibaka got injured a game into our season which slotted PJ3 into his spot, and PJ3 is not bad in PnR situations.

I couldn't stand Perk though, so I had a GM sit down to offer my suggestion on another center, and I got Greg Oden for Reggie Jackson.

                            Starting 5.

                            Russell Westbrook
                            Thomas Pollard (me)
                            Kevin Durant
                            PJ3
                            Greg Oden

Unfortunately, D. Fish is retiring at season's end which leaves nil in the depth chart behind Russ - besides me as I can play both SG/PG. Which, won't be too bad if we hang onto Lamb and he plays SG when Russ is on the bench.

Playing on All-Star Sim 12min quarters and averaging:

                            16.4 pts.
                            4.3 ast.
                            3.6 rebs.

with my slash line looking like this: 48/31/86.

Got work on getting my 3s up.
