    But that's just me.
That's what I do, too. It really has you feeling the ups and downs of a season, having to stomach a bunch of games without your star player makes it just the more satisfying when he comes back, etc. Makes it very rewarding to reach the playoffs and gives an extra motivation to do well once you get there.

On the downside, it takes forever to string together a couple of seasons and forces you to almost neglect all other game modes. Because of a lower number of seasons you will play that way, you also don't see as much of the manager aspect, building your team and so on.

Re: How do you run your association?

To avoid getting bored, I always do 2 associations.
      - One playing every game
      - And the other simming every game (as if I were just a GM)

Am also planning on giving a chance to run a third one, where I just control ONE position (ala player lock/my career), I read on another thread and found it interesting and worth to try.

And if next gen consoles are just a shade of what their are being promoted and if 2k reinstates been able to invite friends to an offline association, might also be considering running a fourth ... hehehe, maybe dumping some of the others.

First rule: If you plan to play more than 1 or 2 years, get yourself a good set of draft classes (and a roster) with adjusted potential for realism or every team will have about 9-10 players +80 overall by year 3.

Re: How do you run your association?

I have a pretty long list of rules.

82 game season and I play the first 8 games and the last 8 games. While playing every 4th game inbetween. This gives me a good mix without having to play too many games.

          My in house rules.

          No trades in season 1.

From season 2 on I can only accept CPU proposed trades if they're fair and reasonable. I do not propose trades in any way.

First year in FA I can sign only 1 player with a rating of 75 or greater. 2 of 65 or greater.

If I do not sign a player rated over 75 I'm allowed to sign 2 the next season.

If I end up in the lottery in 2 consecutive seasons I lift my FA rules.

If I end up in the lottery in 3 consecutive seasons I can propose and complete 1 trade.

I have a few other rules that pertain to win streaks. If I hit a 10 game win streak I adjust the CPU defensive sliders a bit to increase difficulty. But its minimal.

I usually play 45-60 of the games. Last year I turned off trades until mid-dec bc I felt like there were a lot of weird trades going on.

Wish they gave you more control as far as an 'owner mode'

I choose a team and play all 82 games and control all teams to make all the real life trades and transactions. It's a lot of games but I made it about a month into the 3rd season on 2k13.
              NFL: Cowboys
              NCAAB: Mizzou, Saint Louis
              NCAAF: Mizzou
              MLB: Cardinals

Play about 4 games a month in the regular season. For the playoffs, sim until the first elimination game for every round. Makes the Association always feeling fresh, realistic but you also had a big impact in it. Best way imo. By this you can also get through many seasons. Oh, and wait for some good rosters to come out before you start it. You'll have plenty of time once it comes out plus it'll make it 10x better with the fixed potentials and ratings. I usually use bedwardsroy19's roster on PS3 but this year I'm waiting until I get the PS4 to start it which he's making rosters for as well.

Yeah I play every game mostly (Lakers) 11 min quarters

I dont get why people sim tbh. If you want to be the GM then thats cool. But I prefer playing it out aswell as being the GM

Re: How do you run your association?

I've always struggled to play a full 82 game season with some teams, and then there are others where I manage to stay excited throughout the whole season. The past 3 games I've stuck with playing out a full 82 game season with simulation sliders an 12 minute quarters. That will usually last me a couple of months, usually while playing with a team that I can rebuild. To keep things fresh I'll generally make a trade or two with my low bench players, and sometimes even pick up someone out of free agency.

Honestly, I still haven't found a team that I'm interested in starting one with in 2k14 yet, but I'm also waiting for the season to start before I do actually settle on one.

                      Season 14 games
                      No trade 1st year
You can only use trade finder with players of other team (not with yours players)
You can fire the coach if you are not in the playoffs or if you have a lose record after the last game before the all star game
You can only trade players during offseason and before the first game of every season (never the 1st season and never during the season)

I play the first game, then i roll a dice: 1.2.3 sim next game, 4.5.6 play next game.
If I play the game I must sim the next one, after simming i roll a dice 1.2.3 sim again, 4.5.6 play the game.
No possible to sim morethen 2 consecutive game.
After every play game must sim one game.
                      1 play > 1 sim
                      Maximum 2 consecutive sim

                      Playoffs
                      Roll a dice: 1.2.3 sim, 4.5.6 play
If you play the first game if the round you must sim the next one, after simming the 2nd game of the round roll a dice: 1.2.3 sim again, 4.5.6 play
If you sim the first game of the round you must play the next one, after play the second game of the round roll a dice: 1.2.3 sim, 4.5.6 play.
General rules for playoffs: max 2 consecutive sim game (but never the first 2 of a round), after playing a game you must sim
Start again with same rules each round

Re: How do you run your association?

I'm playing with my 76ers so I'm just going to sim the first season. Tank as hard as I can, TRADE EVERYONE worth a draft pick, and draft one of the big names from the 2014 draft (there's one in v1.2 on PC 2kshare if anyone is interested). Then I will play every game from there on.

Side question: I heard potential is static now? So if my draft class has Wiggins at 90 pot he will never go above 90 overall (seems way too low so I'm editing if it's static)?

...and its such a simple fix. Just have a pop up window every time the CPU completes a trade that gives you the ability to approve or deny the trade. This way if you don't like what you're seeing then you can deny the trade, if it looks solid then approve it.

                          Simple administrative feature.
