Re: NBA 2k14 patch - post your suggestions for fixes
oh, well that's a different story. I'm talking about the CPU. from what people are saying, online seems to be a very different animal than offline.
also, i have a feeling that shot releases are much more touchy this year. it seems you almost have to get a PERFECT release or the shot will miss...because i turned on shot feedback and even if my release was only "slightly early" my shot grade seemed to drop drastically...back in 2k13, you could be slightly off with the release and you'd still get a good shot grade if you were open. Shot release windows on free throws seem to be much smaller too. i'd take it back to 2k13 levels, because there seems to be way too much of a penalty for just being a millisecond off with your release timing.Last edited by blues rocker; 10-11-2013, 12:06 PM.Comment

2k13 logic is: it doesn't matter what your release is lol
Alley oop success needs to be turned down.....WAY too effectiveComment

I like that alley oops are more successful, actually. too many times in 2k13 the ball would just bounce right off the receiver's hands even though the alley oop was placed perfectly fine...in a real NBA game, if the ball is thrown close enough to grab it, the receiver usually grabs it...in a real game, it's not very often you see a guy go to catch an alley oop and just have the ball bounce right off his palms...that happened constantly in 2k13.Last edited by blues rocker; 10-11-2013, 10:20 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2k14 patch - post your suggestions for fixes
I play mostly My Career, so my suggestions are for that:
Fix the horrendous teammate AI. For some reason, 2k decided that the AI on my team in My Career needs to play like a bunch of morons with their heads cut off. No help defense, clogging the paint on offense, not clearing out for an isolation, etc.
For both teammate and CPU AI, fix the broken play logic. If a play doesn't go as planned, it turns into a dribble fest for whoever is controlling the ball. I saw Splitter dribble out the shot-clock and throw up a 3 pointer for no reason.
Remove the back and forth crossover CPU cheese. I understand that some players will try and get around, but simply dribbling back and forth, crossover, two steps, crossover, back the other way, crossover, etc. is not realistic. I can only stay in front of the them for so long before I am eventually pushed out of the way, or I get stuck in a 'shuffle hard' to the side animation to stay in front.
Rebounding needs a major fix, possibly more than is possible with a patch. Specifically, this relates more to ball awareness than anything else. I can jump in perfect position for a rebound and my player will reach in a different direction, allowing the ball to end up on the floor, or worse, in the hands of the other team. This happens on loose balls as well; players will kick the ball around rather than picking it up.
Fix the player tendencies. Jeremy Lamb should not be taking 15-20 shots a game when Kevin Durant shoots five. In fact, Durant should be shooting more than five times in 37 minutes.
Coaching logic: Why are starters still in the game when we're up by 20 in the fourth quarter? Similarly, why would I be taken out in a close game when I'm hot? I had one game where I scored 10 points in the first 6 minutes of the fourth quarter (4-5 from the field and 2-2 from the line), to get us within 3. Timeout is called, and I go to the bench for the rest of the game, and we lost. Just because I wasn't a starter, I was taken out. This happens consistently.
Those are some of the major issues I'm having. And for the love of God, please release the patch(es) for PC.Last edited by Skopin; 10-10-2013, 10:46 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2k14 patch - post your suggestions for fixes
i'd rather my shot success be determined by how open i am, not by some arbitrary millisecond shot release window. i personally don't think release timing should have that much of an impact on shot success. "openness" should be the main factor. as long as you're only "slightly early" or "slightly late", the shot grade should not be dropped much.Comment

But some attributes shouldn't be capped. Why can an athletic SF only go up to 92 speed?Comment

Re: NBA 2k14 patch - post your suggestions for fixes
I've been labbing with All-Star/Superstar each on Default and Sim mode. In my experience vs the cpu it seems Superstar/Default is the best mode. The cpu seems to execute and run plays better than on All-Star. All-Star is a cheese fest by the cpu.
I hope the paint cheese, constant driving/get cut off/keep driving/get bumped/keep driving through traffic/maintain handle/slither through/ horrible offense/bad shot making by the cpu is somehow fixed. Whether it's tendencies, coach or player or run play vs freelance, this needs to stop. Or at the very least be penalized. The game rewards bad basketball by the cpu. Poor offense is rewarded by nearly automatic end of shot clock makes and terrible bailouts of ridiculous drives into the paint by subpar players.
Also, help defense just seeing man and ball. Too often if you're getting beat off the dribble your cpu teammate will stay hugged up against his man totally oblivious to whats going on 2 feet away. And no I don't have my bigs in deny. And just about any switch leads to an automatic foul from the guard I just switched off of. Or worse, the cpu guard throws a no look fancy behind the neck pass through both my defenders for any easy shot.
I'm having no issue with making open shots at all. Please do not change this. I'm using the shot stick/timing and the shooting is perfect in my opinion. Even though I'm liking default better I will most likely tweak my shooting sliders to Sim because I shoot perfectly fine on Sim and maybe a tad to well on default.
My fixes for hum vs cpu: Cut down the drives to the paint, especially when the ball handler is cut off. Fix the end of shot clock shots to airballs or wild rushed misses. Stop rewarding poor offense. More misses by guards driving through traffic. More turnovers on tight passes in a crowd.Comment

Defensive rebounding both online and offline. Too many times your player is way to slow to react on the defensive glass. And even when you try to do it manually, your player still acts dumbfounded and won't jump.

The only true glitch in the gameplay is the Injury glitch!
Every time a player is injured in a game it doesn't show them injured it just glitches to replacement and doesn't say anything about the injured player at all!!! this needs to be fixed!!Comment

Re: NBA 2k14 patch - post your suggestions for fixes
-Patch in the ability to control which hand we lay the ball up
-More reach in calls online
-Implement more travel calls
-Fix out of bound calls. A lot of times the ball is given to the wrong team
-fix CPU logic when diving for loose balls. The ball will get knocked loose and your CPU teammate will go into hyper speed and dive for a loose ball out of bounds when they should just let it go. Dumb

Re: NBA 2k14 patch - post your suggestions for fixes
IMO i love the gameplay for the first time in a long time out of the box. I'd like to see some cosmetic things changed back when the game shipped. The roster updated screwed up some stuff.
1. The coaching profiles are all set to 50.
2. The team color kicks were set to primary and secondary. Now some are set to primary and white.
Other than that, I'm good.Moderator

I don't think this is something that needs to be patched to be honest because its not a bug or a gameplay problem, just something us as the user has to learn to adjust to among other things. I remember this same convo with the loose ball and with layups. Its always something with our group of guys, but I do agree that it shouldn't just be random, which it isnt programmed to be. I cut that artifical true shot % crap off because im winning or losing on my own.Comment
