That isn't true to life.....simulation is what they call it. 2k11 that couldn't happen. Everybody played their position, their role in that game. I couldn't just dribble back and forth with Rip Hamilton in 2k11 and think im gonna get buckets that way, that wasn't his game. I had to run him off screens.

2k11 to be me is still hands down the best basketball SIMULATION to date. That's just my humble opinion. Every game from then has been a downfall towards Arcade/Casuals.

I had many opponents hit me up after a game in 2k11 and compliment my game using the Pistons.
So we are just gonna act like 2k11 didnt have cheesy aspects, like the godawful lead passing, hop step cheese and the spin dunks?

2k11 was a great game, but there definitely some exploits, and they were definitely tougher to deal with than 2k14's "exploits". The only problem with 2k14 right now in my opinion is the shooting percentages around the hoop, as you mentioned. THATS IT. I haven't encountered cheese that wasn't stoppable with adjustments yet, in 50 online games.

Good sim can beat good cheese all day as long as you execute.

And I didn't say that playing with bad teams doesn't justify your skill, I simply said it shouldn't have too. Whats up with these unwritten rules telling me that I have to play with the Bobcats or Jazz simply because I'm a good player?

This si very true in my opinion. While 2k14 has made improvements, 2k11 was an absolute GRIND for 48 minutes. If you didn't execute, you might only be able to put up 15 points in a quarter.

      In 2k11 Pro/Sim plays like Superstar/Sim on 2k14.

      2k11 was HARD.

I agree, 2k11 & 2k7 were like that. Things are just different now. 2k's position seems to be if you want more rewarding gameplay change sliders and play offline or in a sim league. Ranked games will not provide that. I can enjoy them for what they are though.

If I were in charge of Live I would attach 2k in areas they are weak at. Live can't beat 2k in graphics, but there are huge gameplay opportunities. Live can also provide a better online setup and experience with the ability to save settings and plays, which is a fundamental aspect of online play in any game.

I really don't understand how people can defend this game.

Fact number 1: it doesn't have anything to do with basketball.

Fact number 2: it's not good gameplay.

The thing that's fun about basketball is getting good shots, and stopping your opponent from getting good shots. Those concepts are entirely absent from 2K14. All we're left with is random crap, a shallow game that punishes you every time you try to look for depth.

So... what is this game supposed to be good at? Someone please help me understand.

The only thing that was extremely difficult for me to stop in 2k11 was the spin dunk. I never once mentioned in any of my post that it didn't have flaws. Fundamentally though.....it played a better basketball game then any game that has followed it. If you didn't know how to play in that game you were not gonna put up any points in that game and that was FACTUAL.

I would blow a user out in that game that had no skill whatsoever, I had games that ending in the box score........78-22 and etc. If I played those same opponents in 2k12, 13 or 14 that box score would look completely different because those games allow the opponent to keep up even though they don't know what they are doing like letting bad shots go in and ladder I mentioned up above. Unless you were spin dunking and lead passing....you absolutely had to have some type of basketball knowledge to even stay close in that game. If you took a bad shot, you knew it and it reflected in 2k11. It doesn't in these last 3 games.

3pt% was not high at all in that game. It was much more realistic. Your probably not having any problems at all in this game, but to sit their and say that they haven't ventured down the road of a more arcade/casual type of game fundamentally compared to 2k11 you have to be kidding yourself.

I hear ya man, lets just agree to disagree. I, along with a lot of others are not having the same problems that a lot of other people are having. This game can sim, as 2k11 was, it just takes a different approach. Yes, the casual/arcade-ish was at is peak at 2k13 (that game was TERRIBLE), but I personally believe that kind of stuff was toned WAY down in comparison on 2k14.

If some of you guys don't like 14, thats on you guys. But I know for a fact that I'm not the only person that thinks 14 is the best gameplay to date. Just a slight tweak to the shooting percentages would make this game close to perfect online.

I'm decent as far as online goes. It's just frustrating having to go through a bunch of close games with opponents I know isn't up to par as far as their skill level goes. I know they are getting bailed out. I didn't have this problem in 2k11. But hey, we can agree to disagree.

Personally, they need take out the damn signature skills. Superstars were already superstars with just the ratings alone. Role players could be role players if you KNEW your team. Who in the h*ll complained that players didn't play like themselves in NBA 2K11 and 2K12?

Right now, I'm just going to wait for the future patch. Ironic enough, I started playing NBA 2K13 again, and it's really not that bad of a game compared to NBA 2K14. At least, I can hit open jumpers when they're given to me.

anyone else annoyed by everyone steal spamming all game? The moment there is a change of possession after a defensive rebound I just get harassed the whole possession by players lunging and swiping at me.

There needs to be more of a punishment for reaching in...

It's no longer a coincidence when these same things keep getting brought up. It's ultra unrealistic. And the fact that someone can come jumping out at me for a block come down on their feet and be still be glued to me while im driving to the basket.

there is definitely a comeback factor in the game

I was up 40-11 in the 2nd quarter, he literally shot 11% or something really low like that

Steve Nash comes up the court and hits 3 threes in a row

next thing I know I'm missing everything and he's down by 10 then I go on a run and I'm back up by 30

Comeback factor, or hot/cold streaks? If he went on a run, then you went on a run to re-extend the lead, what's the issue?

Nothing wrong with the game per se. Online play isn't played the way the game was meant to be played or the way it was created to be played.
Random online players who don't play sim are playing it in a way it want meant to be played, hence the glitches and strange behaviors.

I think it's the momentum keeping the games close. I've had stretches where I couldn't score, rebound, or make a 5 ft pass to a teammate. I know Wang said that it isn't in the game, but I beg to differ. Something tells me that the momentum thing was put in place to substitue for the rank lobbies. It's like 2k is playing nanny and trying to prevent spamming. I don't care what thery do, they can never completely get rid of spammers and cheese. Never. They should just reimplement lobbies and get on with life. Stop making the game around potential cheese and just make the game. I agree with a lot of you, 2k11 had its issues but it was the best nba2k gameplay to date. I would rank 14 2nd.

As for 2k11, solid game online but worst then glitch cheese move like hopstep or spin dunk move was the fact you could not get steals unless the player lose the ball due to contact. That bothered me more than anything. 14 is almost unplayable online. I'm winning but I'm sick of have close game or sometimes losing to people I know are bums.
