Re: NBA 2k14 1080p vs 720p Next Gen Console?
I wouldn't listen to rumors. Both consoles can run 1080p just fine. The developers choose what they want their game to run on for performance reasons. Sony and MS have nothing to do with it.

Also I play games on my monitor its 23 inches and supports 1080p and I can definitely tell the difference even though its smaller. When I play PC games they look much better with the higher resolution. So as long as your tv supports 1080p you will get the great graphics that everyone else gets. Depends on the quality of the TV
I'm not one to listen to rumours so convincingly but when COD is 720p and ps4 is native, it makes you think a little bit. I think XBO only has one game coming out that's native 1080p
His explanation makes sense. I've seen some great games that look great with screenshots but are jaggy as hell when you actually play it. I don't have a problem with that..if the resolution isn't so different from the ps4.#dairyfreeComment

Damn, I only have a 720p. I don't have money to get a new one. My brother got a new HDTV and I was looking forward to playing that when I got my ps4, but found out a few days ag, it too was 720p.

I haven't seen a PS4 in action but I have seen an Xbox One and it looks great. Maybe FIFA will look even better on PS4 but it was looking slick on the one. If the comparisons show that Xbox is noticeably uglier I would be shocked. The difference in resolution dont amount to much as far as the eye test goes once they are 'upscaled'.
I saw some BF4 comparisons screens and certain things looked better on PS4 and certain things looked better on Xbox One. Its so hard to tell lol. I hope I can get both consoles anyway and if I do I wont be playing them side by side to compare graphics.Comment

Re: NBA 2k14 1080p vs 720p Next Gen Console?
In all honesty the fact that the opinion on resolution is coming from Microsoft and not a developer, I wouldn't trust that opinion. Same thing if it was coming from Sony. From my understanding both consoles are capable of 4k but again, 4k is still a bit away from being used, I mean live tv telecast are still 720p. Having 4k capability to me is like having 1080p capability in last gen, it didn't make a difference.Comment

Re: NBA 2k14 1080p vs 720p Next Gen Console?
thanks for the heads up, I will check it out. oh and the only thing about the resolutions and frame rates is it does imply which systems the devs are able to get the most performance from(at this point in time). this can be critical especially with frame ratesComment

Re: NBA 2k14 1080p vs 720p Next Gen Console?
Ouch. You're definitely going to want to get 1080p support because now regardless of what the consoles are capable of your TV will only be able to do handle so much.

It sounds like its as significant as a jump from CRT to 720p back in the day.
Sucks to hear. I will have to sell my tv, shipping is going to cost me an arm and a leg.#dairyfreeComment

Re: NBA 2k14 1080p vs 720p Next Gen Console?
I saw that battlefield screen comparison too...it looks like the PS4 is a tad crisper, but the lighting effects on the xbone just seemed to shine through more...the only thing that would change my mind at this point would be if a 2k developer came in and said that the PS4 version plays better...until then, we do have the resident evil developer saying the 2 performs the same...Comment

Re: NBA 2k14 1080p vs 720p Next Gen Console?
My deciding factor will be controller. You guys can be into those extra 100 pixels all you want lol. I feel like the PS3 controller is wack compared to the Xbox 360 one. But the Xbox One controller is smaller, the thumbstickers are a lot smaller and they are very very sensitive. For a guy with bigger hands the 360 controller fit perfect, the PS3 felt tiny. Now I hear its the other way around with the PS4 adding some bulk to it. They also made a great decision putting the triggers for L2/R2 like the 360 has. Makes a huge difference to have that trigger feel.
Problem is they closed the Sony Store here in Atlanta so I won't be able to play it until it comes out. Id get it and 2k14 in a heartbeat!Comment

Re: NBA 2k14 1080p vs 720p Next Gen Console?
this is true, I use to game on a monitor in 1080p, that monitor crapped out and I got a larger replacement that only did 720p and even though the monitor was larger it didn't look as good in the lower resolution. if you have a tv that supports that resolution you will see the difference

Re: NBA 2k14 1080p vs 720p Next Gen Console?
I've always preferred Xbox over PlayStation, but I am a graphics fanatic. I've been debating with console to get this time around. So the wife finally put me out of my misery when she asked, why don't you get both.So I'm leaning towards 2k for PS4 and Madden for the Xbox One.
The one thing that I tell some of you guys is this, tv size can make a slight difference in 720 and 1080. To tell you the truth, if we were playing a game at 1080p on a 32"tv, and you got up to go to the bathroom, I can guarantee that if I switched it to 720p, most likely you wouldn't notice. I used to play on my 15" monitor, and games looked great. Then I moved to a 23" visio. Now I have a 50" LG plasma and a 55" Sony 3d. Now when it comes to resolution the key is the distance you are from your tv. The closer you sit, the more jaggies and pixels you'll see, (depending on the quality of tv). All 1080 tv's are not the same. A $300 doesn't look or perform like a $3000 tv. Trust me, I know. Plus the bigger the tv, the more the picture stretches. So a smaller 720p tv can look just as beautiful as a big 1080 tv, if its set right and you sit a the right distance. So if you don't have a large tv, don't worry, you'll be fine.Comment
