Shotblocking Too Easy?
Do you guys think that shotblocking is too easy? As a 7 ft Center, with only 60 shot blocking and 60 low post defense, I'm getting at least 5 blocks a game easily on HOF Sim difficulty in MyCareer. I can't imagine what I'd be averaging with 90 shot blocking and 90 low post defense.Tags: None -
Re: Shotblocking Too Easy?
You would average the same amount. Rating doesn't matter as much as timing. But I'd rather have the blocking right now than last year. -
Re: Shotblocking Too Easy?
Yes. As the previous poster stated, those ratings are not as valuable as timing and to some extent vertical. Besides, Anthony Davis is averaging like 4 blocks a game, so it's not that far fetched of a statistic.***1971-72 ABA Roster 2K12 360***

Re: Shotblocking Too Easy?
Blocks, along with tipping passes, boxing out and grabbing rebounds should be for the CPU, because we(the users) shouldn't need those ratings. Those things in real life, and in the video, are just based on timing/instinct. Now for the sig. skills...those are separate. Also, athleticism helps with those, just like a fast and/or quick wing player (in the videogame) can get to the ball a lot faster than a bigman can, therefore he can average more blocks and rebounds than a bigman if the user utilizes the player correctly.
But the blocking is fine. 2K needs to make the offensive player do a better job at not making it so easy to get the block sometimes tho. Just to be clear, I'm talkin about situations where a player may receive the ball wide open, but his shot animation so slow that a defensive player can just fly over and make a strong contest.

Re: Shotblocking Too Easy?
IMO shotblocking is just fine with the way it is. I actually as a team avg just under 5 blocks a game thru 5 games in my Association with the Pacers. I actually struggle to get blocks with Roy Hibbert which shouldnt be the case yet I can block shots with Granger pretty easy. It seems hands, agility and vertical play a big part of blocking shots and why I think Hibbert dont get anywhere near the blocks he should like he does IRL. I have upped his hands and vertical up by 5 and agility I upped 10, so I am hoping I will see him start to block more shots.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11

Re: Shotblocking Too Easy?
Compared to last year, shot blocking is great. Now, leaving 2k13 out of it, yes, shot blocking is too easy. Once you upgrade your athletic attributes you don't even need to bother your blocking or low post defensive ratings, but if you do you are damn near unstoppable. Many times with my 6'8" SF I have blocked 6+ shots, on about 7 occasions have I blocked 10+ shots with the highest being 13. Before maxing out my block attribute, which I think is at 75 with a point forward I averaged 2.6 bpg, after 4.2 bpg. My team in MC averages 9.7 bpg, the next highest is the the Thunder with 6.8 bpg.Say "No" to railroaded MC modes.Comment

Re: Shotblocking Too Easy?
In my experience it balances out because of all the mind-rapingly awful foul calls with like 0.7 on the shotclock. I can't count how many times a game my team bails out the other team by fouling them with no time on the shot clock. Also any time a PG gets into the lane it's a guaranteed foul when they shoot.
So yeah, I'll take a few non-calls where I swat a shot and maybe make a little bit of extra contact.Comment

Re: Shotblocking Too Easy?
Yeah it's slightly overpowered, particularly when blocking jump shots which happens to regularly.
But, its so much more fun than last year. Some of the dunks Ive blocked have got me out of my seat, so no complaints from me.Comment
