Last gen impressions?

This game is good now that it's working.

I may be premature as I am only in the rookie showcase atm but it's definitely not 2k14 repackaged. Yes it looks similar but gameplay has been tweaked quite a bit. Animations are smoother. Presentation during game is much better and more fluid. Everything feels really nice and I am happy so far with what I'm seeing.

Teammate AI seems improved. Shot/layup animations are smoother. The ball goes in the rim differently and it looks nice. I have already seen different contact animations (one that I saw was on next generation too as chris Smoove did the same layup I just did)

People who say this Is the same as 14 clearly didn't put it many hours on 14. I played that game ragged and I can instantly see a difference. It may be subtle to the EYES but not to the hands.



Added: the best way I can describe this game is fluid. Everything seems very responsive and fluid. Even shot animations after the pass seems to happen instantly. Players don't "stop" for a second before making the next move like a robot, it all happens in one. There is no lag between anything which I saw a lot of in 14. There is also no cheese where the cpu plays the passing lane and steals everything.

So far my opinion is that if you are debating upgrading then you definitely need to either do it or at least rent it. I think this year will be a big improvement.

off the court is beyond disappointing, but i will say this about the gameplay; playing against the com is challenging and I almost prefer it to online.

The com was merciless and exploited every hole in my defense. I remember i was playing against the raptors as twolves and i was controlling Pek on defense for several possessions, and the com kept giving it to JV. the com also had JV set picks for him several times consecutively in one possession until I would rotate late, thus giving JV the easy dunk. also if i didn't play close up on derozan and gave him space to run, it would be easy alley-oop.

also the animations i feel are more fluid and more appropriate given the space available the player has to operate; noticed this especially when I would drive and dump off to the center.

The one thing that bothers me THE MOST (non gameplay) is how the font and numbers are TINY on the jerseys, for throwback teams as well. it just doesn't look right to have "Jordan" scrunched up between the shoulderblades when it should be almost as long as the width between the arm openings, or with a small 23 sitting on the sternum when it should be a FAT 23 on the abs. I know this is a ps4/xb1 as well. and the throwbacks you have for regular teams have the nba logo on the back like modern jerseys....

There are some crew gameplays in youtube, like kspades crew gameplay, it all looks great.

I kind of felt that the AI would exploit your mistakes , especially if it was a star player. I never really felt that aspect in past games, cant say I really even felt that last yr and 14 was the best game 2k had ever made imo. With sliders you could make it smarter smewhat, but then you could have some scrub player something he wouldnt do IRL.

It seems stars tend to be more involved, and if you cant contain them the AI will continue to lok for them. I really like that part this year.

I havent played a lot of games, yet because itz still baseball season to me, and football is going on, so NBA2k wont get a lot of time until after the real season starts, and baseball is over with. BUt I do thin in the few gams I have played that the AI seems to have smarts about them fianlly

The thing is, it looks the same on the surface. So to someone who is a casual gamer or really cares about aesthetics over gameplay they probably genuinely believe it's not an improvement.

To all still debating: If all you care about is graphics then you won't enjoy this game any more than 2K14. But if you truly care about gameplay you have to get this IMO.

I've had a chance to play it for about 8-9 hours straight today and I am very glad I upgraded. Especially when you play myteam you can see the difference. The fact that 1-4-1 zone has been taken out of the game is enough for anyone who plays this mode to instantly upgrade.

But it's so much more than that. It's the little things in this game that have improved. There's too much to describe really. The easiest way to say it (for me personally) is that everything that was annoying about 2K14 has been removed.

I really think they by the end of this year this will be regarded as one of the best recent 2K games. I probably sound over enthusiastic but for the hardcore gamers it just flows so smooth. If you liked 14 there's NO way you can't enjoy this.

I'm surprised the jersey issue was not mentioned earlier. I noticied it right off the bat and hated it. Not sure why it would be this way when it was not an issue previously. On the flip side, the Hornets new court is beatuiful and was my default court for all quick games. I Redbox'd 2K15 one day after release and agree with all the comments of the gameplay improvements (subtle but there) but at the end of the day, was it worth 60 dollars? I answered myself earlier today when I repurchased 2K14 and popped it in. Still loads of fun (i'm not an online player) and with updated rosters out there, have no regrets.

Ok so it's finally downloaded.

Jumped into some offline Blacktop because 2K servers are down so I can't update the rosters or play crews.

The game play is A LOT smoother. Anybody who played 14 at great length will notice it right off the bat.

How that works when the game has to work in a stadium full of people, I'm not sure. But if it's just as smooth I'll be very happy.

Just the transitions, both animation wise and working your way back up court for a fast break off a rebound. everything feels a lot smoother and more in sync.

Gameplay is what matters the most and from most reviews the gameplay is MUCH more improved.

I went ahead and brought it also ... (Digital download).

Will give impressions when it's finished downloading.

Loving the jump shots. In 14 the ball always took a straight path to the basket. Now with the new system you can add swerve to the balls flight depending on how you time it and it looks so good.
