    Re: Last gen impressions?

Played my first game this morning before work. I didn't play 2k14, so I can't compare it gameplay wise, but I found it to be very enjoyable. I really struggled with the shot meter in the 1st half, but got better as the game went along. I got killed on defense in the paint, so I'll probably have to adjust sliders for that until I get better. Commentary was updated for the new season, which I was little worried wouldn't be the case after everyone was saying the game was barely updated.
It's unfortunate that it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of next gen, but I'm not disappointed with my purchase.
And as I said above, there are official updated rosters available for 360. I had to go into 2k Share to download them.

Sorry guys..2k15 doesn't work currently with vlad's editor at the moment. With him working for 2k now I'm not sure he will be making a new editor

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

        Re: Last gen impressions?

Hell I might buy this game just because they finally fixed the colors of the Knicks uniforms, that drove me crazy beyond belief. I barely played 2K14 last year because I had so little "me" time, I don't think I played 2K14 after Christmas 2013, so hopefully the gameplay and animations will be pretty fresh to me.

I'm in the group of the older generation of gamers staring at the end of the line, I'm never buying an Xbox One or PS4 so this will probably be my last video game purchase - potentially ever. I barely have any time for video games and that's not changing soon so I can't justify the cost of going to next gen. I'll wait to see if I can get this game for $30 or so and then I'll pull the trigger.

Do any of you guys have a problem with the compression shorts? It does not appear on mine and also some shoes are used by players like rose durant etc but it does not appear on the shoes section. The Roster was also not updated Kevin Love was still on the Wolves. I dont use xbox live so i dont know if it's because of that. Basically it feels like only the demo. Is this only from me or are your guys different?

Game play and animations should def feel fresh cuz there's more there than there was in 14, you should cop if its your last game ever. You'll feel frustrated the first few games but once you peel off a few layers of gameplay there's a lot there. You'll love posting Amar'e up and driving to the hoop is as fun as its ever been, you'll enjoy Melo coming off screens and driving.

I went into Assoc. mode just to see if your could sign Euro league players like 2k said you could, which was a lie because you cant. As far as anything changing it didnt look it, eveything looked the same. 2k generated draft looked as bad as ever, possibly even worse if that can actually happen.

1 thing Im hoping they atleast did was improved players being upset with roles, as I noticed some players rating being higher than they should with being bench warmers, which will lead to them being ticked off all the time. So if this wasnt fixed then that will be even more of a problem. I highly doubt it was fixed, because other than adding some new animations this game is identical to 14 in every way and I doubt with as lazy as they got they fixed anything in Assoc.

Gamplay wise its fine, just like 14 its the best its ever been as far as gameplay wise.

I a Assoc. guy myself only mode I play, and there isnt nothing different that I noticed in it. So that means same bugs as there has been for the pas few years will still plagued it.

The game itself is fun to play which I dont think anyone will disagree with that, except for maybe online guys who always whine anyway.

The bad reviews is because of the laziness of them to give us basically the same game and the lies that were told about Euro players being signed in Assoc, and the stuff they made sound like was in the game. Rather than stating its in for new gen, but not old gen., thats what people is apset about, not the gameplay itself.

Say it isn't so, ehh! Seriously though, I completely understand where you are coming from and I'm kind of in that mindset too of not upgrading to a PS4. I have a 360 and PS3 now and I use my 360 maybe 1-2 times a week and my PS3 is used 95% of the time to watch Netflix and the WWE Network. I've started The Last of Us (seems like a great game) several times, but only manage to get 2-3 hours into it and then wind up going a month without having time to play it and have no clue where I left off when I return, so I start over.

I'll likely just continue to build my library of games for my GBA, DS, 3DS and Vita, as I do take those with me when I travel for work. I've got a 12-day trip coming up, so no sense in me buying 2K15 right now when it's going to sit idle for 2 weeks. Hopefully when I come back the game will be on sale or something.

One little thing I do see that I like is that when mogs run into each other, they fall...

I was running with the Bulls and Spurs, DRose got a pick and Parker tripped over Noah foot and fell, I was like WTF! Had to play it back a few times..

Well, you guys convinced me to pick this up for PS3. (It didn't take much, seeing as I only buy two games a year)

I'll come back tomorrow morning with my post graveyard shift, first 2k since '11 impressions, sponsored by Bell's Midwest Pale Ale.

I was only able to get 2 games in Adam. I played two nba today games; 76ers(me) vs Bos(cpu) and Was(cpu) vs Chi(me). I lost both games. I played on default out of the box settings and edited nothing after I downloaded 2k's Roster update.

IMO the cpu opponent a.i. is much better on both ends of the floor than last years through my 1st couple of play throughs. In my 1st game against Bos the game was close up until the fourth quarter where Bos pulled away powered by Rondo who was constantly penetrating and dishing out dimes on me. I think the final score was 50-35 as I couldn't hit jack down the stretch and kept turning the ball over. Even though I faltered down the stretch I felt that the loss was completely on me and didn't feel cheated at all.

In my other game, Wall was running the show well for the most part with Pierce hitting clutch shots down the stretch leading the Wiz to the victory. Wall did have a tendency at times to hog the ball and force dribbles into traffic like in 2k14 but certainly not as much. No one led by more than 6 the whole game. Beal was primarily used as a catch and shoot threat off of penetration with minimal iso opportunities for him. Nene/Gortat scored on P-N-R's, putbacks, or Nene with the occasional jumper.

In both games, the cpu was swinging the ball on the perimeter very well and the spacing was solid. They were also taking more midrange shots than in 2k14 default with players like Beal and Jeff Green executing dribble pull ups. One play in particular had Beal fake a 3 after receiving the ball from Andre Miller. As I jumped on the fake, he went around me and pulled up for a midrange j just above the right side of the free throw line. It looked very cool. In 2k14 you usually had to have heavily edited rosters or sliders to get the cpu taking a decent amount of mid j's so that's a plus.

Rebounding the ball feels much better than last year as the response time on button presses for jumps appears much more responsive than the delay I felt in 14. Your cpu teammates also block out much better so you don't see the cpu dominating the offensive glass like they did in 14. The animations are also improved in this area.

Playing defense also feels more responsive to me than 14. Your player isn't constantly jumping/reacting all over the place automatically to every ball handler's movement like in 14 so you feel more in control of defending your opponent. Defense isn't easier by any means but I feel more in control of my fate.

I also feel your teammates run plays better than in 14. Guys set screens and are on the move or creating space for you when you have the ball or don't call a play.

IMO 2k15 is a better game than 2k14 based on my initial impressions from a gameplay standpoint. As far as in the art department goes though 2k disappoints me somewhat. While they did edit a few current players (Birdman,Butler,SwaggyP,Parsons)and added cyberfaces to 2014 rookies or players added to teams late from last year( chris johnson-bos, phil pressey, miroslav radjuvic(sp?), datome, calathes, hollis thompson, davies, dedmon, etc) other players like Vince Carter (no beard going on 4-5 years), Wilson Chandler(no fro for 2-3 years), Tyson Chandler (all he needs is a haircut), CP3(wtf), Hayward (ugh), KD 35(cover guy), and Lebron(former cover guy) remain unchanged. CP3, KD, and Lebron are the most puzzling as they are all former cover guys which makes it hard to understand why they weren't edited or swapped out. With cp3 I would have been happy if they just put in the 2k13 version. 2k still has their Mario Elle cyberfaces on the wrong teams but they did address the mugsy bogues and anthony mason photo issues from last year

As someone said earlier the majority of the euroleague teams are filled with CAPS (of real players I think) designed thru 2k's create a player mode which means they don't look that great. I was not a huge fan of euroleague teams in 2k as I would rather have that effort put toward improving the looks of actual NBA players imo. With disc space at a premium on last gen I don't think their inclusion helps 2k devs in this area.

Animation improvements are subtle and I saw them most in the paint with more collisions and reactions..(2 games isn't enough to really judge this area though)

If you are a gameplay guy I feel this game is an obvious straight out of the box upgrade over 2k14 in the gameplay department which really can't be seen until you play it for yourself. Everybody plays this game differently so we will all have different experiences. I'm a run plays guy so games I play can feel methodical and slow which may not appeal to others. Guys who like to freelance more may have a completely different experience so be warned. Don't know if I can tell someone for certain to spend 60 bones in good faith but if you got games laying around collecting dust that you could trade in towards it to ease your wallet I would recommend it. I don't think I could play 2k14 again after 2k15..If Vlad can make an editor for this so I can swap that Gordon Hayward face for Carlos Suarez I would really be content. Hope I helped someone.

If you play association (and maybe My Player), don't get the game. The auto generated rookies all are rated 25 (aka 0) in several categories. These "blank" catagories include ball handling and offensive post, so all of the future players will not be able to dribble and play inside (among the other 5-7 missing ratings). We should really think about getting a lawyer. Seems like a case that we could make money on, which 2k deserves. No way that this issue made it through testing without being seen, which means they intentionally sold a product that they knew was broken.

While they did edit a few current players (Birdman,Butler,SwaggyP,Parsons) Added cyberfaces to 2014 rookies or players added to teams late from last year( chris johnson-bos, phil pressey, miroslav radjuvic(sp?), datome, calathes, hollis thompson, davies, dedmon, etc) other players like Vince Carter (no beard going on 4-5 years), Wilson Chandler(no fro for 2-3 years), Tyson Chandler (all he needs is a haircut), CP3(wtf), Hayward (ugh), KD 35(cover guy), and Lebron(former cover guy) remain unchanged.

Animation improvements are subtle and I saw them most in the paint area with more collisions and reactions..(2 games isn't enough to really judge this area though)

I do from a gameplay standpoint think it does play a little better than what 14 did, not that 14 was bad as I felt it was the best playing game ever by 2k. Is it worth 60$ to upgrade from 14, well that depends on how much money you have to spare. If they added in the things that they made sound like was in the game then it would have definitely been worth the money and the reason I bought the game was because I thought a few things were added in, like Euro League players being available for Association.

Gameplay is definitely stellar as I have played 3 full games now winning 2 of the 3 games. All games have been close and I do feel the AI is smarter this year. I thought my mistakes defensively were being punished by the AI, glad about that, and it didnt feel cheesey either when it would happen.

I did see a few more pullups jumpers and that was without adjusting tendency sliders at all, and didnt feel to many PIP were being scored either, where as in the past you had to adjust tendency sliders to get the right amount of PIP. I will adjust tendency sliders a tad to get more post players the ball in the post, and a few more mid range jumpers, but even without adjusting its not bad with sim slider setting on AS.

I didnt think I would be dissappointed with gameplay since 14 was good, and I can say without a doubt gameplay is good. Just disappointed none of the new stuff was added into 15, is my only gripe.

Now I havent played any NBA present teams, as until rosters are correct and IM close to starting a Association I like to play with the Euro teams and classic teams. Seems there is a few more legends missing, as I noticed Walt Bellamy is no longer with the Hawks. Be great if someone made a legends roster for 15 like BigDoc did for 13, I loved his classic roster on 13. I did play 85 Celts me vs the 85 Bulls, and MJ and Gervin ate me alive, but I did win thanks to Larry Bird.

As frustrated as I am with 2k for basically selling us 14 renamed 15 I will still enjoy the game, cause I loved 14 and 15 is 14 with a few minor tweaks to gameplay,

With 2k screwing us last gen player over with no more than they did it will definitely be the last time I purchase NBA2k for the PS3, so if they do make a 16 for old gen they wont rip me off again. If Im ever able to get a PS4 then I wont have much choice but to buy NBA2k since Live is always trash, but until then they wont get another penny from me.
