Re: I'm Lactose Intolerant - Hold the Cheddar and Swiss please: The Good Games Thread
LOL, The_Throne2k11 dude sounds EXACTLY like a player who got me kicked out of an OA last year on 2K12. Pausing the game after every fast break three I took or whenever I was going into the paint and then messaging me telling to "mix up my offense", LOL what a load of poppycock. I don't now if this was a league-wide thing, but he was putting his hands up on every single play like an absolute idiot, as if he was oblivious to the fact that I could and should just burn him for standing there like a dufus, and then he would be wondering and complaining when I was going to the paint.
These so-called "sim" players do nothing but run floppy plays ALL game, and they have the temerity to accuse you of being one-dimensional and not mixing up your offense. That's why I think the majority of these "sim" leagues are complete and utter FRAUDS. They use anachronistic rules like PIP and 100% on ball D, to hide the fact that they aren't that good at defending and refuse to acknowledge the fact there is more than one way of playing defense in the same way that there is more than one way of playing offense. When they say, "mix up your offense", it really means, "OK, could you stop feeding the ball to Kobe in the post, because he is taking my defender to the cleaners, and since I am not allowing myself to play off ball D, I can't do anything effectively to get the ball out of Kobe's hands..."
The problem with these "sim" players is that because they haven't gone through the caludron that is online ranked, they're SOFT. Since they refuse to play against people that play at 100 MPH, they prefer to play at 20 MPH like a tortoise, and prefer to make pretty little pictures with their cute little floppy plays instead of playing actual BASKETBALL, which means putting pressure on the defense at ALL times and allowing yourself to play off ball D.
For this reason, I prefer to refer to myself as a realist, rather than the "connoisseurs of sim snobbery" .
The problem is people all have different definitions of the meaning of "sim". Some people thinks it means playing 100 pct on ball defense, no fast breaking, shooting 90 pct mid range, and only running plays with no iso's or quick sets. When, IMO, that isn't sim. There are alot of NBA teams that barely even run plays as it is, and if their opponent left them open in the paint or from 3 then they'd take advantage of it rather than forcing mid range shots.
I run plays, quick sets, but if my opponent can't guard me 1 on 1 then I will just iso or run pick and roll (which you see more of in the NBA than any set plays).
That is just my experience with the whole "sim" debate. Some people take it too literally and believe they can't do anything but play slow tempo, run plays, take mid range shots, etc. IMO that isn't sim either.
If anyone reading wants a real sim game, add me. I won't give you that watered down, a million rules and restrictions style of sim like majority of this forum will, I'll give you a authentic NBA basketball experience.

Re: I'm Lactose Intolerant - Hold the Cheddar and Swiss please: The Good Games Thread
Updated the first post. I moved everything to a spreadsheet since 1. It's easier for me to manage and 2. It's easier for you guys to sort by team/location. If you see any mistakes let me know.
Also, a lot of people are just throwing GT's out there at this point. Please use the format I provided in the first post (just copy and paste and then fill them out):
Format
360/PS3 Name | Team(s) you use | Location
ie: eDottd | Anyone | California
OR
360/PS3 Name:
Team(s) you use:
Location:
ie:
360/PS3 Name: eDottd

It makes it easier for people to find a good game.Last edited by eDotd; 10-22-2012, 01:03 PM.

Xbox 360: ScruffyChicken
Plays with: Anyone (Mainly Twolves and Celtics)
Location:South Dakota
As for other players, I've recently played with Vni and Harithak47 and they both play pretty well. Based on the one game each I've played with them, I would call them sim.Last edited by Scruffychicken; 10-22-2012, 04:00 PM.Comment

I'm looking for games as we speak...
PSN: FunkDockta6969
Teams: (In no particular order)...Milwaukee, Atlanta, Minnesota, Boston...
I won't play with: Miami (even though I am a huge DWade mark, I refuse based on my lifelong intense dislike for LeBron. At this point I'd like to point out how Wade will always have 1 more title than LeBron unless once LeBron splits, he gets one on his own)

The spreadsheet is pretty neat but I don't think there's an easy way to sort by region, which can be pretty crucial for non-US.Comment

i have always played offline and tried to learn the plays, or emulate the offense nba teams run in real life. then i started playing online last weekend. oh boy, it seems like a completely different game! my record is like 0-10. i can't stop the online lebron's, d-roses, or d-wills who kept skating around. i don't really mind losing, i just want to play the game like real basketball, enjoy the great plays occasionally pulled off either by me or by my opponents. i hope i can join this league with any team, or if not, i hope like-minded gamers can add me and play me occasionally. thanks!Comment

Re: I'm Lactose Intolerant - Hold the Cheddar and Swiss please: The Good Games Thread
Also, if you have any suggestions on how to make this more than just a list of names, feel free to throw them out there. I was thinking about adding some kind of rep system, where for every good/positive comment you get in this thread you'll get some kind of mark next to your name (maybe a + sign, or a gold star, lol) so people have an idea of what they're getting into.
I will not track wins and losses though, that's not what this is about.Last edited by eDotd; 10-23-2012, 12:10 PM.

A rep system sounds like a great idea. Maybe have some established "SIM" players run a game or two with someone, and then they can give feedback.Comment
