So where do I find a league? All the league stickies have waiting lists. It really seems you destroyed one of the best features on the website, I understand this is a business, but what do you care if someone else starts and offsite league? It's not like there going to be any bigger then OS. Are you really that insecure or did you just ruin a great feature of this site? Becuase as of right now, I can't find a league.

As we got bigger, this became more and more of a problem. We have finally decided to address it.

Re: The Rules (Why Can't I Post?)
To be honest, not to happy with this idea, but with that being said I do understand why it was done. That's why I'm suggesting maybe make one stickied thread where people can post their league info, or post whether they are looking for one. That way it's all in one convenient place, and if people advertise their web site, warn them once and delete their post, if they do it again, ban them.
I'm hoping there is some way people can post their league info in the near future, cause right now I'm looking for oneComment

I had a sub forum made for my NCAA dynasty league last year and we went strong for about 3 or 4 months (6 or 7 in game seasons)
It was a great experience. None of us were paid members of the site.
Just throwing in my own experience.Comment

Re: The Rules (Why Can't I Post?)
My 2 cents....
First cent: You guy's subforums are pretty barebones when it comes to solutions for league portals. If you actually allowed all the features of some of the 3rd party free make-your-own-website (a front page, slide show, IM, chat room, member roles/permissions, etc), this might not be a big deal. And using your arena blog feature doesn't get properly aggregated to your specific subforum. Those 3rd party sites would actually allow you to see what the latest blog posts in the league are on the front page. If you truly want OS to be a hub for online leagues (which is looking more and more like that is not the case), you guys need to actually create a portal subsite and not something added through vbulletin. You guys definitely have the audience but the website features are would be considered early Web 2.0 (which I remind everyone was a term created in 1999).
Second cent: For NBA 2k specifically, for the leagues that have longevity (exists for longer than one iteration of the game), there's been no suitable place where all members can congregate year-round. The 2k portal sites (when they worked), were in danger of disappearing once the new game came out. There needed to be a main location that each league could use to communicate and socialize in. Again, if they didn't choose OS (see reasons above), it needs to be somewhere.
I honestly don't understand what the beef is in advertising non-profit user league websites - only thing that comes to mind is that you are losing potential ad revenue??? I can't imagine that is breaking the bank over there.
It's obvious the value in OS lies in its community. You guys spent years cultivating and evolving the site and generating the membership you have now. I'd hate to suggest it, for fear of being outcasted, but maybe create a classified section on OS?
Bottom line there needs to be an easier way for the common OS'er to reach out to their fellow OS'ers about playing in leagues. Again, no offense on the subforums, but it's like asking people to use Excite.com for search results. It does not meet the needs of today's serious online leagues.Comment

We have PAID advertising available for that.

Re: The Rules (Why Can't I Post?)
Banning people for telling the truth... That's pathetic. I only used this site to find leagues. Now that I can't cant do that there's no point to me using this page. Ban me. It's a video game website. I don't care.Comment

Man I support the idea of keeping out scammers or whatever. I do think you're going a bit overboard with all this though. Especially the manner in which you're responding to people who disagree.Comment
