Re: Neon1 2k10 (360)
Awareness is more the mental side of it. Being in the right place etc.
On Ball has more to do with the physical side of defending, how quickly you move your feet to stay in front, even how quick you hands are on reaching and disrupting (on ball steals etc).
Its basically the difference between a great one on one defender and a great team defender.Comment

Well Speed and Quickness has to do with your feet and footwork. On Ball D has a ton to do with that.

Re: Neon1 2k10 (360)
Well thats just because he's lazy. Thats totally seperate and that would be an example of an exception to the rule player. There is nothing stopping Monta Ellis from being a great individual defender except his lack of will or/and his zero interest in doing so.
There is no edit for will power, intagibiles etc, im just using a base scale and then making adjustments wherever the rating created doesnt come close to fitting that players makeup. Players like him get double -20 instead of -10 taken off the average.Comment

And generally (as in I can't think of any exceptions), intelligent defensive players are also good on-ball defenders, and if they're not, they're big men, so their Quickness rating will bring it down to where it should be.Comment

Re: Neon1 2k10 (360)
That's not true. Some guys don't defend well simply because they're not good at anticipating the ballhandler's movements, knowing where to force a driver, etc.

He also calculated a lower end Def Awareness (I believe a 71 or 72). So either way its not like he's going to be some great defender out there, hes going to be very bad.Last edited by Neon1; 02-20-2010, 02:05 AM.Comment

But what's he at with my formula? Probably around a 70 or so I'd bet.Comment

Re: Neon1 2k10 (360)
Monta Ellis is NOT a bad on ball defender...and that is coming from a very realistic Warriors fan. He is not great, and he doesn't deserve a high on ball d rating, but he shouldn't be bad either.GO FALCONS!
