So I have a question hypothetically speaking of course, if I was to make a draft class and i had a player in that class I think has all the tools to become a good superstar in the league. When that player is being created and edited would you set that players POTENTIAL at 89 or above straight from the get go or would you set it in the all star range (84-88) and let it maybe get boosted up over his first couple years in the league.

Re: EXOGENESIS and VTCRB Draft Classes (Xbox 360)
I need to go through and figure out how much a player improves over 10 years. Haven't done this yet. I can get a good basis on how to set up potential when I go through this. I'll let you know my findings. I explain earlier in the thread in the last 5 pages what I do during an association to combat players overalls getting too high.Comment

Re: EXOGENESIS and VTCRB Draft Classes (Xbox 360)
Ok so to get some pre-info out on what I do with the potential and during an association. When I modified VTCRB's draft classes and rosters I set the players potential to what I thought their overall as a player would be around in their careers. Following a players 4th year I edit their potential to match their overall.
I did this potential test to test several areas. I had 2 things I wanted to test. The 1st thing I wanted to test was the hypothesis that following their 4th year the overall of the player would be the closest on average to the potential the player begins with. The 2nd hypothesis was once I changed their potential to equal their overall following their 4th year their overall wouldn't change much if any at all the rest of their careers.
I tested this by following 6 players from the 2012 draft (already on the rosters), 8 players from the created 2013 draft class, and 8 players from the 2014 draft class. The 6 players from the 2012 draft were Anthony Davis, Thomas Robinson, Jeremy Lamb, John Henson, Jared Cunningham, and Festus Ezeli (don't worry about the potentials I set this class at. I forgot to go back and make changes to different players potentials with the rookies so they may seem high). The 8 players from the 2013 draft class were Ben McLemore, Alex Len, CJ McCollum, Rudy Gobert, Trey Burke, LeBryan Nash, Tim Hardaway Jr, Gorgui Dieng. The 8 players from the 2014 draft were Andrew Wiggins, Aaron Gordon, Ilimane Diop, Aaron Harrison, Semaj Christon, Przemek Karnowski, Jakarr Sampson, Nik Stauskas.
1) When I reached the 4th year of all the players I followed I was surprised a little by my findings. In fact I came out a little bit happier with my thoughts because of the surprises. I came away realizing that after their 4th year the players overall rating will be on a 5 point scale surrounding their beginning potential. What I mean by a 5 point scale, if I set a players beginning potential at 83 their overall following their 4th year would be somewhere between 81 and 85.
More often than not the players overall was between the middle 3. For some examples from the rookie class I had Thomas Robinsons's initial potential at 84 and following his 4th year his overall was 85. I set Rudy Gobert's initial potential at 72 and following his 4th year his overall was 71. Another example was Jakarr Sampson. I set his initial potential at 75 and following his 4th year his overall was 75.
A player having an overall on either of the extremes was rare to see. For example I set Ben McLemore's initial potential at 87 and following his 4th season his overall was 89. Only two other players out of the 22 players tested were of the extreme parts of the scale. Alex Len had an initial potential of 80 and his overall following his 4th season was 82. Gorgui Dieng had an initial potential of 78 and following his 4th season his overall was 76.
2) Following the players 4th years I set their potentials to match their overalls. Did this because I realized that if you change a players potential below their overall the potential will just jump up to match the overall and for the most part the overalls stay the same the rest of the season. Jumping up or down a point either way.
In my tests my hypothesis about the overall remaining the same was half right. Half of the players tested overall stayed the same between their 4th years and their 10th years and only a couple fluctuated at all between those years. No player's overall changed by more than -/+ 1 point except Festus Ezeli who's overall dropped all of a sudden following his 10 year from 74 to 70.
There were more examples of a players overall dropping a point between their 4th and 10th seasons than there were gaining a point. Of the 11 cases where a players overall was different between their 4th and 10th or last year 8 of them saw a decrease in points. For example Andrew Wiggins overall dropped from 93 following his 4th season to 92 by his 10th year.
These are my findings. If anyone wants me to email them the excel file I used to record my findings then PM or post your email and I'll send you the file. I hope my findings help. Remember it's based off of my way of running an association so if you were wanting to not worry about it I'd set your potentials several points lower. But remember a players overall growth is related more about the difference between a players overall and their potential than where their potential begins at.
*****EDIT*****
Did screw up on my notes. It's following their 3rd year that I changed their potential to match their overall. So anywhere I said "following their 4th year" I meant
following their 3rd year".Last edited by BigCKU; 02-06-2013, 01:25 AM.Comment

Re: EXOGENESIS and VTCRB Draft Classes (Xbox 360)
I think he will stay. He will be main guy next year along with McGary. I think his Dad(Big DOG) will help convince him to stay so he can get drafted higher. I think if he stays he could break into POSSIBLE Lottery.NBA 2k18 Roster:
