Re: Real FT/Shooting % vs. Shot Stick Timing
Funny, but I use shot stick... The highest team % I've shot is 54%. I'm not seeing these 60%+ percentages like you'd swear I should see after reading people bash it. It's not just about flicking a stick...there are many factors.

Re: Real FT/Shooting % vs. Shot Stick Timing
which is why you adjust your sliders after doing a number of testing. This isn't rocket science...if you are shooting from areas on the court at a high percentage, then go in and lower that slider value. I realize that takes time and effort, but this game will work with either shot stick or real % - you just have to make the adjustments.

Re: Real FT/Shooting % vs. Shot Stick Timing
This is just my opinion but I think with real% it just lets the cpu control if you make a shot. Because EVERY game I would play even vs the worst teams in the leauge my players would do pretty good in the 1st quarter but after that my players would shoot around 30-35% while the cpu would shoot around 55-65%. Not realistic to me.Comment

Re: Real FT/Shooting % vs. Shot Stick Timing
Shot stick timing is bogus IMO. I want my guys to make the shots that they make in real life. Especially online, where timing is so hard to get down. I cannot stand shot stick timing online.Comment

Re: Real FT/Shooting % vs. Shot Stick Timing
Real Player% is not based on button release, just like FT% is not. It is not the that difficult to understand. those that say RP% is still based on the button release, please tell where this information can be found. RP% is (IMO) the best new option on the game. I loved this option when I played NBA Live games years ago. It gives a more realistic experience with the players. Yes, it takes mastering the different player releases to be successful in SST but the real skill of the game is getting players in position to be successful..ie..open shots, ball movement, post ups..etc. It does not get any more "real" that what a player actual ability is, hence the name..."Real" Player %. But as many have already stated, it is whatever you prefer. That is the beauty of it. Oh, and you can play with RP% online if you go to a custom lobby. Re: Real FT/Shooting % vs. Shot Stick Timing
I think I'm going to change from Shot Stick Timing to Real %. I have a created player and do player-lock and it doesn't seem to matter what my shooting ratings are, I am still shooting 65-70%. I'm currently at 60 rating. It's bothering me because trying to balance my teams shooting percentage with my super high percentage isn't right. For my team to shoot 45%, my teammates have to shoot about 40% and me 65%. If I raise it so my teammates shoot 45%, then we're over 50% every game.
My question with real shooting % is, do sliders affect the shooting with real shooting percentage?Comment

Re: Real FT/Shooting % vs. Shot Stick Timing
Here's my 2 cents.
I understand why hardcore sim fans will prefer RP% for Field Goals too. They don't want their stats going away from what happens currently. But to those of you who keep saying that SST is too easy if you've got the releases down, you're kidding yourselves. With the proper set of sliders (I'm using a personally tweaked version of mk's, just to tone down the shooting %), the game is quite realistic on SST too.
Even with a perfect release and a wide open shot, there is a chance of failure. Maybe lower than the RP%, but there is. Especially on less than perfect players. Also, even a slightly fast or slow release will get a shot in if the player's wide open and is normally supposed to get that shot down. Too early or too late releases will cost you the shot even with the best players, which happens. We've seen players release early when a defender is running towards them to avoid the contest, and we've seen players release late if they're on an off-day.
I know I would be getting EVEN more realistic stats with the Real Player FG%, but to say that SST doesn't make you run your plays or get your players wide open is false. Try a good set of sliders, and you'll see how challenging it can be.
And there's always the fun factor. As a previous gamer said, you love seeing that green "perfect release" icon pop-up and the important shot falling down. You feel you're more part of it, even if that costs a bit on realism.
And to tell you the truth, like mk said, my stats haven't been that much off on the All-Star difficulty. My record with the Pistons is close to the true one, and so are my percentages.Eleftherios "Leftos" Aslanoglou
