Note the 95-96 season having 11 minute quarters and also having a slight adjustment for "on ball defense" - the NBA, based upon statistics, changed from that year moving forward until now (more defensive oriented with on ball hounding defensive schemes). These sliders give me amazingly fun games and it took me a long time to get them right, I've finally gotten the "final" set. If you question anything, trust me, these are built on literally hundreds of games. The first step was getting animations fluid - making it look like real NBA basketball. Once the players moved appropriately, then it was about getting the statistical values to play out. Superstar level is a difficult level to play on, but the CPU A.I. plays so smart. I've seen a little bit of everything with this set and I hope you guys who still play 2k11 enjoy them!
Thanks so much man. now i can enjoy some real basketball and not 2k13 lol

Plus, I'm an old-school classic roster guy. Back in the 80's and 90's there was a TON of hand-checking on defense. So this actually plays very true-to-life in that regard. Glad you're enjoying them! Still the greatest NBA basketball video game experience for me.
I recommend limiting the amount of iso's you do. If you call for an Iso in the middle of the floor it's easy to pull off a hesitation-crossover and have your defender skating to one side. It's even easier when you create more space with a size up step back because then you avoid getting that force field bump. I can break LeBron's ankles with Kendrick Perkins on Hall of Fame. So I only Isolate with superstar players, usually late in the shot clock or at the end of a quarter to tone down the cheese.

Just to let you know how crazy this game is - and how much uniqueness to each game I get with this set...

I played the 92-93 rosters. Sixers (cpu) at Celtics (me). In honor of Reggie Lewis' 20 year date of this death, I wanted to give that year a go. I lost 110-106. BUT, I jumped out to a 39-29 lead after the first quarter. After scoring 39 in the first, I scored only 11 in the 2nd quarter. Philly even had a 16 point lead on me as all of a sudden their dynamic backcourt of Hornacek & Hersey Hawkins went nuts on me. Hawkins ended up with 36 and Lewis had 34 for me.

I've seen new animations where defenders will fall down, etc. I just love this game and this slider set is about as real-to-life basketball as I've ever played!

Hard to believe it's been 20 years since Lewis passed away. Such a sad time for basketball fans, as you had Gathers go right before this and then Petrovic was killed in a car accident a few months later.

Lewis could've been an all-time great, no doubt about it. I wasn't a big Celtics guy growing up but I really liked the way he approached the game.

I was born in 72, so I was 21 when Reggie died. I will never forget that sick feeling... I knew the Celtics were toast. I was showing my 13 year old son some youtube clips the other day. Especially when Reggie blocked Jordan's shot 4 times in one game. There's a great article on ESPN.com written by Jackie Macmullin on Reggie's career.

The ONLY flaw I see in these sliders is that it seems like it's hard to get great rebounders to get a lot of rebounds - kinda seems like a crapshoot on who's going to get them. But that's probably just the price you have to pay to get any offensive rebounds. Great set of sliders.

This frustrates me too. Trade offs have to be made. But try this:

                    - raise CPU Consistency to 50
                    - raise User Strength to 55

I think this might help and I'm going to test this. Thanks for the constructive feedback!

hi mk....was wondering if you're getting nba 2k14 (im sure u will ) will you create sliders for MyCareer? I really enjoyed your sliders in NHL, so hoping that you'll do sliders again in 2k14. By the way, this sliders, could this work as well in MyCareer mode? Sorry, very new in NBA 2k (not played this game since nba 2k3 .....hockey fan here )

I don't think I'll be doing any more NBA 2K sliders. My son wants 2K14, but I just love 2K11 and have no real desire to play any other games.

I've actually done a LOT of edits to this set, but I'm VERY hesitant to post them because I'll probably be ridiculed for some of the drastic steps I've taken. I went back to the drawing board on them, and looked at the physics of the game. I watched a TON of classic NBA games on TV and YouTube lately and tried to capture the movements & player reactions. At the end of the day it's a video game, but I feel like what I've done is much more fun to play with. But the immediate response to them will probably be negative. If anyone is still playing this game, let me know if interested and I'll plug them in on the front page.

Also note that I play the classic rosters and I worked on the sliders to make them universal for all the roster sets over a 20 year period of time.

No slider update MK? Watching old Jordan games on NBA TV, got me thinking of playing with these and the classic rosters.

Page 1 - Post 1 is now totally updated. Yes, you will see some drastic stuff. I have played nearly 80 test games. (Yeah, I LOVE this game that much).

You need to play simulation style basketball - no cheese stuff.

The drastic changes were made due to the PHYSICS of the game. Once I got the movements correct, THEN I worked on statistical things.

I just played some incredibly great games with this set. If people don't like them, that's fine. They work perfectly for me.

Also note something: SUPERSTAR level seems to have some built-in cheats. So you have to make some drastic changes because the CPU will decide to go into berserk mode against you. You will also see some bad turnovers. BUT, you need them because of the non-steal TO's that have to be made in this game.

Please know that I have now tested a TON of different combinations of sliders. I feel this set is probably the most sim-like, amazing set I've ever developed. Perfect? No, because it's a video game. But 2K11 is without a doubt the greatest NBA video game I've ever played.

Today I played with the 2000-01 set. Kings (me) at Pistons (cpu). I won 106-100. C-Webb had 30 pts, 9 rebs. Stackhouse lit me up for 26. I had 11 offensive rebounds to their 7. Ben Wallace had 10 pts, 10 rebs. And Peja had 14 points and 17 (yeah, you read that right) rebounds for me. I led by 8 at halftime, but they tied it up in the 3rd. I then pulled away late. I shot 49% to their 46%. When I compared box scores from the real-life games (2 of them from that season) I was shocked at how close they came out.

Please make sure you double-triple check the math on page 1. I have a 3-ring binder with all my 2K11 information in it (including tons of roster information from the past). This set plays universally for all my 20 years of classic rosters. The only thing to note is the minutes played that I have noted on page 1.

                              Enjoy them!

I normally don't play 2k on Superstar but these sliders provide a good even challenge. 11 is still my favorite of the bunch. Too bad there is no bounce pass.
