Slider ideas to make some gameplay aspects of 2K more realistic

    -MASS EDITING-

    Under Construction...

I am currently mass editing!! Finally getting the hang of how to use this Roster Editor tool from LEFTOS (my new hero) and this game is under massive construction. Dam it's looking really beautiful though, sooooo realistic... can't wait to share it with you guys... but currently waiting for the PC PATCH which 2K apparently forgot about us.

So basically to get players to play according to their ratings then playing on Pro is the best way to go????

Thats a good question. Actually you can do some testing and... Pro gives the USER a +2 benefit and All-star gives CPU a +2 benefit. His thread topic name is Understanding slider coefficients.
I wish 2K would just come out and tell us exactly what these things are.

Yeah that's a good read he really knows what he is talking about I just wish that they would fix this issue .... just because yo change difficulties player ratings shouldn't change

Also, in higher difficulty levles the timing windows change. Like when to release on your shot, when to go for an on-ball steal, etc.

Ya I agree with you... higher difficulty should change AI strategies instead of just ratings.

I will be back soon with some stats from the game that I play with this slider set. I'm interested.

Re: Slider ideas to make some gameplay aspects of 2K more realistic

I played the featured Thunder Raptors game with Thunder.

First thing I noticed was that the Raptors suck a lot, almost too much. They weren't even worth my time after the second quarter. Got up to a 29 point lead. I don't remember playing the fourth quarter, no idea what kinda offense I was trying to run. I like the realistic flow of the game however.

              OKC (me) - TOR
              108-88
              41/78 (52%) - 37/81 (45%)
              3FG 10/29 - 1/14
              FT 16/20 - 13/19
              14 dunks total
              PIP 48-50
              Off REB 11 - 13
              Def REB 34 - 24
              STL 8 - 9
              BLK 3 - 0
TO 15 - 11 (this was really good, except one CPU turnover was out of pure stupidity)
              23 total fouls

They can't really shoot 3s, it's kinda sad. It's understandable that they didn't shoot as many threes as me but 1/14 is unacceptable (especially since they were 8/23 today. KD has 42 points. He feels pretty real with this set and coincidentally, Westbrook had 5 TOs just like today's game.
This looks pretty good after one game. Maybe next time I'll play a more even matchup, basically in actually, OKC beats the Raptors easily in most circumstances.

Nice thread. I do feel like the drive and kick out to an open player tactic was missing in every game i have played. I might have to check these out. Thanks.

From what I understand, playing on the default (Pro) automatically negates CPU boots, so that ratings stay the same for the AI and USER.

I like the sound of the changes, especially player speed, points in the paint and 3PT opportunities for the AI. Deffinately going to try these in my Lakers Association against the Heat (last Thursday night's game)

Actually, playing on Pro LOWERS the cpu ratings and All-Star highers them. So either way we have a shift, shame on 2K. You can test this out by playing the same team against each other, then switch your controller to the opponent side. Press the back button instead of the start button and view the ratings. The exact change for each rating is further discussed in a thread called Understanding Slider Coefficients. Cheers.

I noticed that you have the look for post at only 50, but the post shots at 100. Does the CPU A.I. acutally try to go to the post players more with the setting only at 50, or should I raise it more Also I had a question about off awarness, does the CPU play more realistic to you with it set as low as 40? The reason I ask I notice alot of other slider creators has there's set at 70 or 80 alot of times. Last question is about the attack the basket slider at 75, it seems like the game already tries to attack to much at 50 (default), does having this so high been forcing to many forced drives to the basket and cpu not running plays or has it actually been working out ok.

Ya, I tested having Look Post at 100 but I noticed that even guys under the hoop would pass to other guys under the hoop too much. And I raised the Shot Post to 100 because when guys had the ball in post position they wouldn't shoot enough! Try it out see what works for you.

Off Awareness: Right now I am testing this setting at 0. As far as I know and correct me if you know better, the only thing Off Awareness effects is how successful players are at passing out of double teams. I think it may also effect out-of-bounds and travelling calls. So far I'm liking the realism better with the setting at 0 because players will struggle a little more to pass out of a double team. In real life they double team all the time to force more turnovers. We all know that 2K13 is plagued with not having enough turnovers, and when players double team in 2K it seems too easy to pass out of.

Attacking the hoop: I am an avid observer of NBA basketball and players are ALWAYS attacking the hoop, its the first instinct for most players. It's only when they cant get past their defender that they try to pull up. And I noticed with 2K that a lot of players will pull up even when they have a wide open lane to the hoop for a free layup or dunk. And I hate seeing a free dunk get passed up. Also, I'm trying to re-create the drive and kick style of basketball that is so prevalent in real life. Players drive, create a double team, and pass out for open shots. It's difficult tho, because honestly 2K's perspective of real-life basketball is... skewed.
