Lost sort of meandered it's way ... the 5th season was a bit of a chore since the reveal was played some ham fisted. It actually ended quite well though, and since the show was never about explaining all the mysteries but instead about exploring the people and how they were all connected to one another ... it ended great. It's one of four shows I own (Lost, Fringe, Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5). People pissed off at how LOST ended never really understood the show in the first place.



Read the books man. That scene at least makes the ending of book five a little less ambiguous.

Well than i have to admit I didn't understand the show . I will do some reading on it later

That made me think about Burn Notice. Burn Notice is definitely a series everyone should watch. I was kind of reminded of that when the scripting thing came to light a few weeks back... with Yiy being the "traitor".

To get 300 points doing +4s takes 75 game nights. With 4 game nights every hour, it would take you 19 hours to finish (75/4=18.75)

I mean ... a lot of the questions were answered, but the island and why it existed and how it all worked ... that was setting... not plot. It's actually fairly impressive if you think about it.

In 2004, there weren't a bunch of clever shows on television where there was a clear difference between the setting (world) and the plot (story). A lot of times those things were completely interwoven with one another. Some series the setting was the literally the plot.

It takes a fairly good writer to write an interesting setting without it being the plot. That's what LOST did; that setting was interesting and the "what if" drew you into the show ... and then you got the plot along the way. I think that a lot of people just never realized that the setting was merely a vehicle to tell character stories.

Think of Rousseau's character arc (revealed sort of backwards, but when you think of it in chronological order it's a tragedy fairly well conceived).

Or look at Ben's arc ... (Although the writers can't claim full credit for that ... Michael Emerson was only supposed to be a throw away character for a few episodes).

Sayid's constant struggle against his past, and his descent and then ultimately his redemption ... which ties into the Park's and so on and so forth.
