So these card tiers don't actual reflect their real life performance anymore? Beal is an above average player at best and OPJ is a good kid but def not epic. I'd rather have a legendary Brian Scalabrine at PF than these trash.

They never reflected real life. Initial tiers are based on the player rating on the console game. And event card tiers are based on the format. I guess you weren't here last year when everyone raged about the Swaggy P Star card..

I disagree. A lot better than above average? So he's great... an allstar? A career average of 15 ppg up till this year with .420 FG% for a score first shooting guard is pretty average to me. He's off to a good start this year, but I wouldn't say he's a top 25 player.

Beal is 2015-16 (L)East good... After Jimmy Butler and maybe Dwayne Wade as East All-Star SG locks, Beal is inching toward same tier as DeMar DeRozan and Nic Batum? (if he's a SG) in the East... Heck, after Harden and Thompson in the West, you drop to Wiggins and Bledsoe/Knight?

Wow, where have the SG and C gone? Who's gonna carry the Jordan/Kobe and Kareem/Hakeem/Shaq torches? Guess in today's NBA, the best players are dynamic point guards, playmaking SFs, and stretch PFs. Not much true All-Star depth at SG and C.

That being said... I'd be totally STOKED if there's a Star Greg Monroe and Leg Giannis! With Lew Alcindor/Kareem as Star RC card!

And I'm not giving up on the Bucks making playoffs just yet to get another set of cards! #OWNTHEFUTURE

Because they had a self-imposed rule to always make the Star card in RC a player on the current team roster. So who else would get the star card since Kobe was the RC Star.

Pulling for the Wizards this RC. As a long time Rockets fan, I loathe the Jazz. Plus I desperately need a 2 guard.

If the Jazz can pull of the upset I'll shoot for Stockton.

Don't hold your breath. Last time they did a Bucks RC they had an RC Bob Lanier, and an already existing Star Oscar Robertson. Didn't even create a new Bucks star card.

I think Washington wins. At least I hope so. I'm contemplating going for that Beal. My RTTC team needs a SG.

Also, how does John Wall have better defense than John Stockton? In what world is that true?

NWGD just sent some tweets out regarding this "Rivalry". They probably should rename the event to something else as they're trying to match-up fanbases (and top cards ala Davis v. Iguodala) where both teams have a chance to win (rather than a 2+ million game blowout). The HOU/DEN match-up last RC was one of the closer ones in a while.

The Hornets will probably be matched up with a smaller market team like the Bucks or T'Wolves, or maybe even Hawks/Magic in division where both teams theoretically are even in popularity. With Kemba being current best player, CD may/should go with Larry Johnson or Alonzo Mourning as RC card to make sure people spend that $$ on hot streaks (and possible card in Skybox).

New tweet, event for this week was just renamed "Rivalry Cash" so giddy up, I am in as long as CD is honest.

Wasn't it cuz Swaggy was the best current active Laker at the time (Kobe was hurt) and the "event rules" at that time was that the best current player on that team gets the star card? I seem to remember that Danan tweeted a few months later about the "Swaggy mistake" or something like that, which shows some sense of humor from C$D.

Kobe was actually the Star RC card last year with Swaggy P as the Star. All complementary Star cards were current players... until the Wizards/Bucks RC where Arenas and Oscar were chosen... probably because Beal/Gortat and Middleton/Giannis weren't up to standards yet... and after that Nick Young debacle...

With Kareem in the fold this year... and Greg Monroe and Giannis both at borderline East All-Star level... it very well can happen! Then again, they haven't released an Oscar Bucks card yet (almost given up on Ray Allen and definitely on Glenn Robinson/Michael Redd)... based on last year, we've yet to see Lanier, Cummings and Moncrief as well...
