it seems like people are making the argument that CD encouraged botting because they didn't do anything in the earlier versions... yet when they implemented a verification system to determine who isn't human enough to pass a simple image test in 3 tries for an auto-ban, it's not fair. so which is it?

if CD took any action based on assumption (regardless if true), there would have been a bigger backlash than what's currently happening. although there seems to be some cases of false positives, the verification system seems to have been good enough to catch the usual suspects. at least now they can say "you failed the test 3 times in a row" as opposed to "your amount of games/speed of play seems unreasonable".

Do you really believe everyone who's been banned was cheating? Do you also believe 3 strikes and your out policy is good for something as intrusive, random and frequent as a verification screen to requires only one click? Plenty of people are being banned and going weeks without a response. Id rather have a couple cheaters than be wary of being the next innocent player to get nerfed.

They're not protecting the integrity of the game, they're protecting their bottom line.

Come on. There is clearly a right and wrong way to go about this. Current verification really isn't good.

The REAL point at the crux of all of this, is that CD needs to understand what they're actually doing here. They are taking away commodities that some people have paid a LOT for. You can't just do that with some generic email, no evidence, and a 3 week wait before getting back to people.

How is that the right way?

Then you take into account that CD is HARDLY in position to take such a hard line. They need to acknowledge that they screwed this up royally. They had a huge hand in turning a LOT of players towards cheating, and botb sides need to walk back. This garbage where they encouraged cheating for two years, then want to act like they've been diligent stewards shouldn't be going over well with anybody.

And how can any person demonize a cheater and call for harsh punishment in one breath, then cry for their falsely accused brothers in the next. It's the same group of people. CD needs ACTUAL eyes on each of these situations individually. Not some silly catch all, buggy verification system. Verification should be a STARTING point, couple with good, timely PERSONAL feedback. That's clearly and obviously the proper way to handle this. They may not have the resources.. that doesn't mean that, in the meantime, it's OK for them to screw dozens if not hundreds of their customers out of their paid commodities, with little to no support service.

The only thing I was addressing is it was said they encouraged cheating by not doing anything. So they start doing something and people are even more angry.

So are there any proposed solutions or just complaints? Or is it better to just remove the verification system all together and have a free-for-all with botters so innocents can play?
