Lin came in and was a pretty decent PG, but became quickly overhyped because of the fact he's from harvard, nobody really wanted him, being in the New York market, etc.

People overlooked his flaws on the court and just jumped on the 'Linsanity' wagon. If you were a GM, and let Melo walk to keep Lin, you would be the laughingstock of the entire NBA's history of GMs.

Jeremy Lin made history by scoring 27 points in a win against the Toronto Raptors. In his first 5 NBA starts Lin has scored 136 points and now holds the record for the most points scored for an NBA player in their first 5 NBA starts. His total of 136 points puts him in first place ahead of Dan Issel who had 129 points.
If that is not real record,than just wait and see how soon other people break it in the future

I'm just saying it's not worthy of a record setter because his achievement is too specific. It isn't really a "stat" that people keep track of or will be remembered.

I can't remember any player in any sport living for so long off of a rep that they gained over such a short period of time so long ago. "Linsanity" happened 3 years ago and he's played like a backup point guard ever since.

Believe me Lin is no great point guard by any means but I don't get all the hate, I mean he was part of the new york system and he obviously fit into it better then Carmelo whos system consisted of "shoot, rinse, repeat", Lin got everyone involved and that's why they won games, it's like Kawhi, I think Kawhi would be a better Gerald green if he left San Antonio, he strives in the system, just like how Lin strived in new yorks system, I feel like if he stayed new York would have a brighter future, and when I mentioned melo before, I definitely didn't mean trade melo and keep Lin, I just meant that they should have worked out their differences and played together and if melo still complained then something could be done

Let's take a moment to appreciate what Lin did during linsanity period...he's not a great PG, but nobody expected him to be. He went from a "nobody" to a "star". Obviously he's not a star but just the process of him not giving up and trying hard on his game to make a name of himself is great, it shouldn't be hated...why would people hate someone who actually works on his game and becomes better? I think these kind of Cinderella stories are what makes sports fun

I dont know if these comments were kind of directed towards mine when I said he wasn't close to Melo, but if they are, I don't hate the player or person at all. I think what he did was awesome for himself, I hate the bandwagon and perception people put on him, not Lin himself.

I mean, almost beating out Chris Paul for starting all star PG? That's just ridiculous.

The only thing I'm gong to "hate" on is you two's limited vocabulary. Just because we're not kissing his *** doesn't mean we're "hating" on him. There's a huge cavernous gap between "hating" on someone and saying that they aren't a great player (fact) and their best stretch of games happened 3 years ago (fact).

I love how sports fans can only see two options "dick riding" and "hating."
