I'm a lead software architect/engineer at a Fortune 50 company. Finding good people is difficult. Finding multiple teams worth of good people is even harder. Even if they've only got one mobile developer and one back-end API developer working on this, you've also got designers, QA, product managers, etc. They've been working on this for at least a few months (over New Years break, NWGameDad said something about how they were in the final stretch). Even if those resources are shared over multiple projects, that's a lot of time and a lot of money. You don't commit those types of resources to a project without having a revenue model.

You are very right and I knew there were reasons that I liked you. I am an IT Director for a fortune 200 company and QA may be one of the things that I am responsible for. In this day and age it is very easy to over simplify. With the AH, it isn't about writing a bunch of new code other than this module, it is making sure that you test for almost every possible condition. While 2k15 was built on 2k14's base rules and it would be similar rules for whatever wrastling app that they have (I wouldn't ever be a fan). It would use the same algorithms but the metadata would be different aka content. Cat Daddy has about 50 total people working for it and one could assume about 5 maybe for Mynba2k15 and they would leverage shared resources for other administrative functions to keep the platform functional.

Here is the bottom line that more of you senior people will understand. While adding AH does generate additional revenue streams it also creates a much greater risk. It also changes the dynamics of the game since now you can have inflation of cards. We now have additional cards that are introduced by the adding a new way to get cards they become devalued because they are easily accessible. AH could be reversed engineered from other auction type systems they could even gain lessons learned from their parent company 2k and 2k could have oversight on the implementation.

There are very clever people that attack the code. There are many threat vectors that one could attack and CD would have to design counter measures and audit trails to use for discovery. Most of the logic of this game operates on the sever and notbas much as the client, this reduces threat vectors or your hacking opportunities.

It is easy to oversimplify when you're not doing the work and it is easy to take risks that are not yours.

CD is also much more transparent than many companies. At least we knew ahead of time.

You guys are actually both right. I built an online sports card game waaaay back in the day which was a rip off of Panini's online card game (and this one) - except it was for the NRL (Rugby). Developed it with 1 other dev (Flash - at the time) with pretty much just 1 person on design and 1 producer, it was a freelance gig.

You can make this kind of game easily, BUT, to the scale and quality that CD has done there is a little bit more involved (as eVizions said), especially on the back-end to handle game sessions etc. Not to mention the motion graphics and cards are quite nice too (except Xmas cards, bleh, they're fugly).

Anyway, seems like there's a lot of IT/dev's here :wink:

I had 2 star pros in my last season and now I have 5 but I'm guessing that makes the bots way better because now I'm losing to them if I don't have my best team in there.

I'm always surprised when I draft a leg in star tier. It's a mix of emotions, I feel happy that I got my reset, but a little disappointed cuz its just a leg, then get even happier when I remember I'm in star tier. Just drafted my second leg since my reset, Gary Payton. One of the few PGs I didn't have.

I know what you mean! I get excited drafting ultra rares and above when I'm in star tier because it taken me over 350 boards.

Can I like this more than once? I'm just gonna go ahead and like/unlike it 10x just to make myself feel better.

CD better hope that we don't decide to team up and become competition for them. We might just put them out of business.

Bots have gotten really strong. And they energize more often than they used to AND they use boosts. That's really unfair, its like CD forces you to buy boosts (if you havent drafted enough)..
