30% really doesn't make sense. The fact is that you WANT free players to be involved and you WANT to promote buying, selling and reselling. You want them to buy and sell bulk. Remember, the credits that I sell something for don't come out of thin air. They have to be purchased by one person or another. In this case, pay-to-play people will be the ones footing the bill, while free-to-play players are the ones recycling them. The more people that have credits, the more buyers, bids and BINs there are, which drives up prices. This causes the pay-to-play people to purchase more credits, which get cycled through.

Prices should be determined purely by supply and demand. As we saw, LBJ and AD Star cards had no problem selling for 10k+ credits. World B. Free cards, on the other hand, weren't selling at 5k. What would they have gone for if there were no floor? Well, with a tax of 30%, there is no resale value, so the only people that are looking to purchase it are the people that need/want a World B. Free card (probably mostly people that already have one). That leaves a ton of supply with very little demand. However, if the tax were 5% (same as Fifa), you have now created a sub-market of people who will look to get cards on the cheap and resell them to make a profit. So maybe those players determine the value to be 2000 and then turn around and sell them for 2500, making 375 credits as profit. Do that a few times and you can now buy some pretty good stuff yourself. Meanwhile, you've naturally set both the floor and an LBIN and created more buyers. To that end, the resale market will most likely drive the floor up higher than that.

Also, this game has a built in advantage that no other game that I'm aware of has: many of the transactions that occur result in 65% net profit for CD. Anytime you buy a card to train with, CD gets 30% of the seller's cut and 100% of the buyer's cut, since they can no longer use or resell that card. Purchasing a card to combine is similar, although it does add value to the card you're combining it with (so it's not 65%, but it's definitely more than 30%).

To me, it just seems like AH is designed to force a 2:1 trade or you spend money. You sell 2 cards to buy 1 or buy credit packs to cover the tax.

Not saying its the smartest way of thinking (definitely isn't the best) but it seems to be theirs. So when I said 30% tax made sense I was speaking from that perspective.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I just don't understand it, because not only are they creating a worse experience for us, but they aren't maximizing their revenue from doing it.

The 30% tax won't last. It can't. Nothing survives with the seller taking 30% back. It's survival of the fittest. The people footing the bill will just jump to the next pay to play game. All pigs get slaughtered. CD will adapt and learn or be driven to extinction.

I think CD is being extra careful on the auction house with the high tax along with listing fee. They don't want to be like EA on the losing fight against coin sellers for years. Newb would rather buy coins from thousands of 3rd party sellers rather than using fifa pts to buy packs where you won't get the players you want.
There are so many ways to earn coins by trading in the Fifa UT market that coin sellers will never go away. CD is trying to eliminate the possibility of having 3rd party seller from the get go imo.
I actually don't mind the AH as is, since most of us use it for cards we don't need.
If CD lower the tax to say 5% and no listing fee like EA, The market will have "player price fix", auto buy bots and people selling their credits for real money.

I just got my lowest star reset ever yesterday at 197 boards, and none of my resets from Leg to Star+ have happened under 50 boards within the "max" for the tier.

Well, with 2 exceptions last RC when I drafted 2 leg resets within 30 or 40 boards, but even though they were both dupes they didn't even make my season LU at that point, so...

I think they'll lose a big portion of their followers, but they'll always have the super die-hards and they'll always bring in a few new players each year because a) they're tied to 2k, and b) they're the only game (that I'm aware of) that has the rights to the NBA. They'll survive, but they'll never do much.

If you've played 32 games and haven't played him yet I think he's gunna be a bot. You usually play humans more often and earlier than you play bots, right?

Isn't getting a game to that level that people actually find a way to make a profit off of selling credits a good goal to strive for? I'm not saying it's not a problem, it definitely is, but it means that your virtual economy is booming, which also means that you're also making a ton of cash.

Also, this app doesn't have the APIs that are necessary to create auto-buy bots. People selling credits for real money is sort of an issue, but there is no secondary currency, so there's really not much of a need for it.

Maybe they don't want to maximize their revenue because they are not greedy?
