I do. The 98 Jordan came from drafting during the last Rivals this one came from an Epic pack but I was so stoked to get one. I am as well. I had over 2000 different MJ cards back in the day. Some of them pretty rare so this is nice to have both of them even if the game resets next year. I will try so very hard to get that one. If the prizes stay the same going forward (I hope they do) I will make sure to get into whatever tier gets me that.

Haha. I can sure relate to that. I was a huge collector in the 90s as well. My first player to collect was David Robinson (I kept his rare and significant cards, I have 2 autograph cards of his plus a dozen Rookie cards).

MJ I kept every card. I still have them hidden in our stock room. I don't know how many but for sure less than your 2000. That's a lot! I do have 2 autograph cards of his I treasure, but I don't have his rookie card). :-)

As I was grinding, I got to thinking (because there's so much time to think when you're just tapping).

Are we grinders just setting us up for a more difficult season? Meaning, they're going to change the season matchup algorithm soon so you're going to be matched up with people around your card-strength more so than now. Assuming that they do a good job o fit, the more powerful your deck is, the more powerful your opponents will be.

So if we all get really powerful rivals cards and legendaries from this event, all we're doing is matching ourselves up with others who have the same. So it's not like we're getting a leg up on the seasons and getting stronger than our opponents.

Is that accurate or am I off?

Meaning, they're going to change the season matchup algorithm soon so you're going to be matched up with people around your card-strength more so than now. Assuming that they do a good job o fit, the more powerful your deck is, the more powerful your opponents will be.



So if we all get really powerful rivals cards and legendaries from this event, all we're doing is matching ourselves up with others who have the same. So it's not like we're getting a leg up on the seasons and getting stronger than our opponents.

Accurate but I doubt they will give you a perfect season matching system. There will be outliers, but hopefully less. There aren't that many rival cards being given out anyway. 125 for this event? So 125 people will have an improvement in one position. I doubt everyone will keep on grinding during these rivalry events so it's gonna be rare to see a lineup of 10 rival cards. That's 5 months worth of grinding. Ryan and Twista seem to be the likely ones to grind that much. :-). And Twista does not have any use for cards less than rival pros so he may not grind as much in the future.

I never had Jordan's rookie either. Someday, I would love to get it though. The number of Jordan cards I have now is about half of what it was. I sold off several a few years ago.

It should make things tougher but it also should help keep people from sandbagging quite as much. IE Make the seasons a little more competitive for all of us.

Yeah, good points. I was just thinking it'll be more that we're matched up with more bought-card decks, folks who have a lot of legendaries. But if the matchups are accurate (an assumption in any case), seasons would get more even for us no matter what makeup of decks we have. So we'd get matched up with folks around our level and we need to make an in-season upgrade to have a chance to win anyway.

I just entered the Shokase mode of not needing any more rare cards.
The fun of grinding for that elusive rare has ended for me. Just got my 2nd Jason Kidd to pro him. (After a 21000-1700 record) Time to trash Avery Johnson.
My season PG's are now Doc Rivers, JKidd and Rubio.... Unless I draft an epic pro PG. :-)

That's a good point. The better cards we have the more protection we have against those "trucks" that NWGameDad said just rolled through our seasons.

He means that as they tweak the matchmaking you might run into less of them because they're grouped together.

I know, but the majority of people in even the top 125 have 3k+ stats, and if they don't they are well on their way banging out 2-10k games in 6 days.

So until the season mode is more competitive, its a crap shoot.

This coming from someone with 3.5k+ stats who still gets run over by trucks haha

Oh CatDaddy why do you hate me so much?
Got a busy day today with a midterm and a project so well see how far I drop.
Currently 23, hoping for at least still top 50 by tonight.
