Even though Westbrook has had a heck of a season, his team is still 8th in the conference or might even miss the playoffs altogether. Yes, they've been hit with major injuries, but if the committee judged past MVP based on team accolades and personal performance, then Westbrook should not be winning the award.

Don't mean to sound defensive, but I truly believe that nobody on the planet could have carried that Lakers team to the playoffs. It was a lottery team at best.

I'm not a LeBron fan but surely he might have had a chance at carrying that team to the 8th seed. First round exit for sure though.

Actually yeah, I can see LeBron doing it too, but not in 2005 (he wasn't in his prime yet). The Lebron from 2-3 years ago and maybe even today could have done the same thing.

I'm not sure who really is anymkre either, but I will be participating and joining at 3pm est which is in approximately 2 and a half hours. Whoever wants to join is welcome but I don't feel it will be as crowded with forum members as we expected but well see

Kobe never had a season like Westbrook is having though. He is the only player in NBA history besides the Big O to average 31 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists in a month, which he did in February and March. He is leading the league in scoring, he is second in PER, he has 10 triple doubles in the season and he is having as good an all-around season as Lebron ever had.

Saying the team is 8th seed is unfair imo, the team started out terribly when Westbrook and KD were out. Westbrook missed 14 games early and played 8 mins in the game he got injured in, and OKC started the season 4-12. OKC is 38-20 since.

Don't have any specialty cards so it's all regular Star Pros for me. Gonna use a semi regular bench with 3 Pros and 2 commons. I left VC in but he's starting out on the bench in case we all get matched up. Won't use him if we do. Hopefully see you guys soon

All great points and I definitely agree with you. Westbrook has been putting up astronomical numbers.

But...the question remains if the committee has changed their criteria on what is taken into consideration for the MVP award? Just a few years ago, having a top team record was important too, regardless of injuries or team roster. If that's not the case now, then Westbrook definitely is in the MVP race.

Taking their record from the whole season into consideration will be unfair considering Westbrook missed 14 games, but if its their record from the games Westbrook played, then its okay.
