Longish post incoming, explaining probable RttC changes coming:
The current RttC has a bug where the "Double Player" matchups reward only double points for the winner, and not the loser. The 1v1 matchups always give 2 more points to the winner than the loser, in the following point amounts, randomly:
5 - 3
6 - 4
7 - 5
With the bug, that makes the "Double" events give the following:
10 - 3
12 - 4
14 - 5
So the 1v1 events currently have a 2 point differential, but the doubles have 7,8 or 9 point differentials, meaning that the worst you can do if you just win the double events is a 4 point win. This allows you to easily truck the current event with 10 Spros (and pretty trivially do it with 5 Spros and 5 Leg Pros).
When that bug gets fixed, you will likely just get a 4 point differential from double events. This will make the event a little more strategic (if the double event is 1st or 2nd, you may want to try to win the other three instead, making the 1st matchup each quarter a real choice if it's not a double event).
Along with this fix, we'll also have the new tier of cards coming, and the final card reward will be a "Greats" card instead of a PnP/HoF. The likely deck strength difficulty will be Playoff or Playoff+ for +2 and Playoff+ or ++ for +5 and almost certainly Playoff++ for +7.
They've also said that the new patch will allow them to put more cards into the RttC event than they currently can (and they also hinted the opportunity to dupe this RttC's reward of PnP Pierce may come with the next RttC as an "extra" card to grind out).
I suspect 10 Star Pros and 5 LegPro/RC/MVP/PnP/HoF level cards can probably get a Greats card, but it will be grindy. Best bet is to try and have as many star pros or higher for the first RttC.
Should be able to squeeze in 2-3 seasons in time for it, which should be able to mean 3 MVP Pros if you tank out 1st round. RC should be a chance to get an RC Playoff card and a Playoff Card (assuming that's the top 1k reward), the latter of which could be duped via the AH possibly.
And of course, grinding out Playoff resets may be a good thing to do early as low supply and high demand early could be used to quickly catch up at the cost of being a bit behind in accumulating Playoff cards.
So ... sorry for the essay length post. As soon as the new RttC is out, I plan to drop credits to Hot Streak and buy game nights and plow through it as fast as possible to confirm the changes and put up a new guide and hopefully help as many folks as possible get through the event.
I only hope that my contributions will outweigh the annoyance my walls of text provoke.
