NWGameDad, when you update all the player cards after the trade deadline, will it require an app store update or just server maintenance?

Re: Update 5 Release Notes and Auction House Beta
The problem isn't the 20 credits. I said that too point out how much 100 credits gets you in response to NWgamedad saying that you get credits from ladder rewards. The problem is the 30% tax. If i sell a card for 3000 i only get 2100 back. With the daily vc being the only source of credits it will be hard for players to use the AH without real money.Comment

Re: Update 5 Release Notes and Auction House Beta
Wow, I heard a quote from Steve Jobs and reading all of the posts reminds me of it.
"You can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time".
The 30% is similar to the house getting theirs, this is a normal principle. It is similar to any of the casino games. It is also part of controlling inflation. It allows the card to maintain it value.
There are plenty of minor gripes and people don't like this or don't like that. This is why it is difficult to release such a large feature mid-stream of a product. Many people complained that it wasn't out, now it is. Find things you like about it, embrace it and move on. SMH at people complaining that they don't want to pay but asking for features to be developed to enable you to continue not paying? Who pays to develop those features?
The beta allows the to increase the transactions but limit the "flood gates" of transactions, issues or load. The can establish a baseline for the types of transactions that occur. This to is a common approach.
NWGameDad - the limit of 110 on low memory devices could be remediated by hacking a concept like a Storage box. The storage box will be on your DB servers, you wouldn't be able to view what was in the storage box. Unless you replaced your current 110 cards. It would limit the content that works have to be managed by the client. It could be replaced as DLC. You could have a local box of 5 or 10 that would allow you to move between cloud and client. It would require pent of work but it could help with the low memory systems.Comment

Re: Update 5 Release Notes and Auction House Beta
Regardless, 30% is insane. That's twice what the highest auction house I've ever seen charges. The next time you go go the store, see what the sales tax is, then figure out what you would've paid if it was 30%.Comment

Re: Update 5 Release Notes and Auction House Beta
This 30% rake has two purposes.
1. Generate money
2. Regulate the game's card economy.
Sales tax is around to generate money; it doesn't have to regulate a market too.
And again, CD also has to worry about cannibalizing its other offerings. It makes zero business sense to make AH a flat-out better option than buying packs, unless they tax it HEAVILY. Even then, it may not make sense.
I know everyone here is always lamenting how they don't get enough free stuff in this game, but you have to understand.. this is a revenue generating product. I don't understand what people think... CD is supposed to dedicate their work lives to providing a great game for free to everyone, and not worry about making money?
If they take a 5% rake, and undercut their own pricing on packs... they're screwing themselves out of a large percentage of money. Why the hell would they do that? How do any of you people (who don't even spend any money) feel entitled to that? I really don't get it.Comment

30% may be high, but that analogy doesn't work at all.

Re: Update 5 Release Notes and Auction House Beta
So to bid on the ah you have to buy credits?
Seems kind of stupid since people who have the ability to buy will have star pros quick and us w/o credits will be left grinding. I think there should be some way to earn credits w/o buying them.Record: 486-18

Re: Update 5 Release Notes and Auction House Beta
The context was that there are percentages that the house takes I am not disputing that 30% is too high or too low.
It was what CD deemed was a balance of multiple factors.
Not everyone will want to use AH for their whole deck. You will learn that with that 30% it will be a leaning experience on how much to sell any card for.Comment

Re: Update 5 Release Notes and Auction House Beta
Most free players have very few credits, and that's if they even own the PC/console game at all. Now, I'm not saying you need to cater to free players more, but I think it is a little dishonest to suggest that because players got free credits months ago when this game was released, that they should be able to use the AH right now.
How were free players to know that they were supposed to save the credits for some feature vaguely described in-app coming at an unknown date?
Edit: To be sure, I'm not saying that you need to change anything. This is a freemium game, and people who want the best cards quicker pay for them. I have no problems with that.
But I think suggesting that you give away loads of credits when, previously, it was never known that the AH would require a minimum listing fee, is not really an argument that makes much sense.Last edited by CedricFP; 02-17-2015, 09:55 PM.Comment

Re: Update 5 Release Notes and Auction House Beta
What a bunch of whiners...if you don't want to use it, don't use it. If you don't want the 30% take-back, then don't sell a card. If you don't have VC, save up VC or spend TWO DOLLARS. He has said repeatedly that this is a BETA and he'll see how this works...I didn't think old, senile, pessimistic, negative people could play this game. Guess I was wrong.IGN: illmatic1

Re: Update 5 Release Notes and Auction House Beta
This thread is painful to read.
It seems like a good number of people don't have a grasp on reality.
CD is a business. MyNBA2K15 is a profit seeking endeavor. I'm sure CD enjoys making their users happy, and that's a large motivation for them... but none of this stuff happens at all unless they're making money. People need to learn that, and accept it. It's how the world works. I REALLY don't get how people actually believe that CD is supposed to just hand out all the credits everyone could possibly need, to use the Auction House, to get all the cards they want. Like.. how does anybody actually believe that's a thing that's supposed to happen?Comment

While 30% may be high or not, I am glad that I can influence more of the cards I need. If 30% overhead dictated to balance out the ecosystem then I am fine with it.
If the rate was 0% then every person that has traded cards in the random threads will be like the people that went on the Krispy Kream diet from Bruce Almighty.Comment

Re: Update 5 Release Notes and Auction House Beta
I'm just here so that I could have fun. AH or without AH I don't mind. I downloaded the app to have fun. Maybe worry about the other stuff like counting my boards til the reset some other time. Maybe if I really get tired of grinding, counting the boards I'm in and I could spare some cash I'll check the AH.Last edited by swishfury; 02-17-2015, 10:50 PM.PSN: aeonfury_14
