    Looking for Deck Advice

    Hello folks,

I've got my current deck that I've been winning a very high percentage of games with just a tiny sliver away from moving from UR++ to Epic. I'm concerned that moving to epic will plummet my wins and hurt me in the current Rivals Clash. I am listing the cards I've got to work with to move into Epic, and I was hoping someone could give me advice on which cards I should run to continue having ~90% win chance.

As follows are my current best cards, from top to bottom as they're listed in the app:

#1 - Pro Epic Paul Pierce (SF) at 34/40 upgrade*
    #2 - Legendary Mark Eaton (C) at 32/40 upgrade
#3 - Legendary Blake Griffin (PF) at 23/40 upgrade*
#4 - Epic Tracy McGrady (SG) at 35/35 upgrade
#5 - Legendary Terry Porter (PG) at 0/40 upgrade
#6 - Legendary Serge Ibaka (PF) at 0/40 upgrade
#7 - Epic Luol Deng (SF) at 13/35 upgrade
    #8 - Epic Marcin Gortat (C) at 5/35 upgrade
#9 - Ultra Rare Boris Diaw (PF) at 30/30 upgrade
#10-14 Epic Paul Pierce, Goran Dragic, Manu Ginobili, and David west all at 0/35 upgrades
#15 - Super Rare Michael Jordan at 0/25*

The * indicates cards I'm currently running. The Jordan card has won for me a lot of times when I get really odd matchups that shouldn't be showing up as Epic and I manage to get the right events to get a win anyway.

What I would like to do is move into Epic or Epic+ and be able to win at least 90% ... I am stable right now and avoiding upgrading my current deck while I upgrade others. The question is which ones should I upgrade to move up into Epic or Epic+ and keep winning 90%+?

I'd like to start clearing boards in epic sooner than later, and a lot of you on here really understand how to set up a deck that wins really consistently.

Thanks in Advance for the input and time,

I've got loads of Ultra Rares among all positions that aren't leveled yet ... in case the optimal strategy includes having a lower level card to keep from being matched up against Legendary decks or some such.

I think the biggest thing I don't quite understand about deck rating and matchmaking is how the Pro cards figure in. My experience with Pro cards thus far (I have and epic one that I leveled up the 2 cards fully before combining and even not fully leveled now it beats 40/40 legendaries). Do they count as their quality or do they count as the next quality up or somewhere between?

I've been trying to figure out how the deck rating works because I see some really strange decks that have labels that don't make sense.

Don't be afraid of getting into Epic. Actually, with those cards you need to get out of Ultra Rare right now! You're only missing out on Epic cards. You have a strong enough deck to be in Epic++ easy, possibly higher.

It doesn't really matter what tier you're in, you will always be matched up against a bit harder competition when you do +5's, it won't be drastic. What does matter is to have a certain balance in your starting 5. Unless you're in Legendary++ and up tier, you can't just put your best 5 guys and expect to win much, there's always someone better.

I'm in Epic++ but dropped down to Epic+ with just two Epic Pro's fully trained, Pro Ultra MJ fully trained and then two super rare's with team abilities. The way current matchups are made, some of us have no choice but to run some type of 3/2 strategy. My super rares take care of losing to the crazy Stars, MVP's, Record Setters etc... and then my 2 Epic Pros easily beat their next two guys leaving my Jordan to go to OT and usually win against another Ultra Rare.

I've got Leg Mark Eaton 1 level away from max. If I max Terry Porter also and put them together with my Pro Epic Paul Pierce, then I'll have some pretty complimentary pieces at PG, SF and C.

Would two Ultra-Rares that aren't leveled but give team boosts be the best bet then at SG and PF?

I would go with: Fully trained epic Pro Pierce, Fully trained Eaton, and a slightly trained Legend (10/40 range). Then two ultras, position on those doesn't matter since they will just be used to lose and hopefully boost your team. Not exactly sure what tier that will put you in but you should do ok and hopefully start earning some more epics soon. You won't win all the time but it should be fairly consistent, try using your ultras in the first and 3rd rounds, and your legend in OT, if your legend keeps losing, then train him a little more until you find that sweet spot.

That advice worked out quite well. The only time I lose is if it's a really bad matchup (Reb+PM vs. Offense) or they have a Leg/Star card that procs a large bonus. Thanks for the help mate.

                    Re: Looking for Deck Advice

Just stick to a simple 3/2 of your best though before they nerf it.

It's cheese, but it works. I have had pretty much 100% win rate in Star with half trained star pros and a couple of SRs to get me just into Star.

It's funny how long it took others to catch onto this as I've been seeing people adjust their LU's every day in the RC to similar effect recently.

How do people get such horrific records btw? I'm at like nearly 40k wins and just under 2k losses, and about 1.5k of those losses came very very early on before I started playing seriously.

I played one dude recently who had like 20k losses and 19k wins wtf

                      Re: Looking for Deck Advice

My approach is 3/2 with one "super card" and two max pros for the deck level you are playing.

So current i have dropped to Epic ++ with a max leg pro and 2x max epic pros and would be running about 95%, maybe a little more, in this RC

Should I stay out of Epic ++?

                        PG: Leg Russell Westbrook 40/40
SG: UR Pro Reggie Jackson 35/35

C: UR Pro Jonas Valanciunas 35/35

I also have UR Pro 35/35 JR Smith and Derrick Favors that I rotate in and out for flavor.

My question is that if I keep leveling Blake Griffin, I'll be in Epic ++. I don't want to risk too many losses. I am currently stomping almost every opponent in quick games in Epic +.

Should I stay out of Epic++ until I get a Epic Pro? I only have 5 epic cards so my chances of getting a pro version are pretty small.

                          Re: Looking for Deck Advice

If you go just into Epic++, you will still be able to get QGs against Epic+ decks (and even some Epic), so there's no reason not to. According to the devs, when you get to {Tier}+ and {Tier}++, the odds of getting something higher than a Rare go up by a not insignificant amount.

So until you can play in Legendary, you want to do as many board clears in Epic++ as possible. You will get considerably more Super Rare and Ultra Rare cards between each Epic than if you stay in a lower tier.

I can't take credit for this info or advice as I'm just passing on what others have told me

                              Roger that
Having a max star will limit you in the 3/2 strategy. When I was running Epic++ (all during recent RC), I had a properly leveled Pro Epic Paul Pierce as my best card, Fully Leveled Mark Eaton at Center as my 2nd best card, and 18/40 Terry Porter as my OT card. I used a white in the PF slot and Pro UR Michael Jordan (523 + 1023 games played rewards) at SG (he can trigger a team wide boost).

That put me in position for my winning rate to climb from just under 86% (I lost a lot when I first got into Epic tier for some reason. Lots of the other deck getting Offense for the first 3 quarters and just barely keeping me from getting the one win I needed then ... those decks ALWAYS had two commons as the 4th/OT cards) to now approaching 92% win rate.

That said ... if you get used to running a real lineup and don't get yourself "married" to the 3/2 strat, then you won't have as big of an adjustment with the upcoming patch change to how the computer handles QG/RC games.
