    RttC Common Card myth

Okay I'm trying to see if by filling multiple columns with Common cards will this result in weaker opponents played. There's a myth going around, especially in the other forum that if you do this you will pull lesser trained cards than you would if your roster was full of legs/Epics etc.

I'll try a couple of series and switch between +5s and +2s, then record the opponents played.

    1st up

+5s with full roster (all pro cards are improperly pro'd)

    Here's the LU

    1st qtr
    PnP Pierce 27/50
    RC pro Larry Bird 32/45
    Spro Klay Thompson v1 27/50 - Spro Bibby 27/50
    Spro Jeff Teague 27/50

    2nd qtr
    HoF pro Tom Heinsohn 32/50
    HoF pro Stockton 27/50
MVP pro Wilt Chamberlain 32/50 - Spro World B Free 27/50
    Spro Jimmy Butler 27/50

    3rd qtr
    PnP pro Chris Bosh 27/50
    RS pro Bill Russell 32/50
Spro Lillard 27/50 - MVP pro Dave Cowens 27/50
    Spro Greg Monroe 27/50

    4th qtr
    HoF pro Dennis Johnson 32/50
    MVP pro Kobe 32/50
    MVP pro Jordan 32/50
MVP pro Larry Bird 32/50 - Spro Swaggy P 27/50

    Next up

+5s with Commons (all pro cards are improperly pro'd)

    Here's the LU

    1st qtr
HoF pro Stockton 27/50 - HoF pro Dennis Johnson 32/50
    HoF pro KC Jones 32/50
    HoF pro Richie Guerin 27/50
    MVP pro Kobe 32/50

    2nd qtr
    PnP pro Nowitzki 32/50
    MVP pro Dave Cowens 32/50
    Spro Klay Thompson v1 27/50
    Spro Lillard 27/50 - Spro Swaggy P 27/50

    3rd qtr
    PnP Chris Bosh 27/50
    MVP pro Jordan 32/50
    MVP pro Larry Bird 32/50
    Spro World B Free 27/50 - Spro Teague 27/50

    4th qtr
    MVP pro Bill Russell 32/50
HoF pro Tom Henson 32/50 - RS pro Bill Russell 32/50
RC Leg pro Larry Bird 32/45
    Spro Bibby 27/50

Initial thought - almost looks identical. I'll post some +2s later

    Re: RttC Common Card myth

I tested it with 3 rows of commons then those same 3 rows with my remaining best cards.

I noted down each player, type and level. I noticed ZERO difference.

My opinion is it is placebo effect, albeit the player has no control, coupled with some lucky double match ups.

Short version - it makes no difference

      Re: RttC Common Card myth

This is 100% myth. In MyNBA2K15 you play against AI boss decks. There is one deck created per boss. It is leveled differently based on if the player is playing against a +2, +5, or +7 version of the deck. Your own deck has absolutely nothing to do wo the composition of the opponent's deck.

Whoever started this rumor may be confusing it with our WWESuperCard game. In that game you don't play pre-created boss decks. You play against other players and you're matched up based on your own deck, what rarity card you're attempting to get, and how many points you're trying to acquire. NBA does not work the same way at all.

        Re: RttC Common Card myth

Thanks for confirming NWGameDad. I guess it is a placebo effect coupled with the fact that our decks get better each RttC and we don't realize that a little bit of progress helps. Even if it is unnoticeable.

          Cheers NWGamedad.

A lot of pretty legit players think this has an impact too. So clarification be it via our testing our your statements is useful

I was pretty confident this was a myth. However I am almost positive that while these are the same cards in the star boss they are stronger this time round.

It will fluctuate a little bit based on which cards are a part of the boss deck. The target difficulty of the boss decks hasn't changed since the 2nd RttC (1st RttC was a bit too easy in some spots and a bit too hard in others), but which cards are included in the decks can have an impact, especially with abilities. When more cards have more team abilities and they trigger then it can be tougher that game.

I did make the Support cards a tad harder. They generally have tier appropriate cards now. I made that change several events ago though.

I did notice that in the first RttC the CPU supports were like +3 offense haha

I like that each game is helping to inform the other games. Since people figured out how to game playing against each other's decks (and having endless possible variety), you guys went with static decks. I think the SuperCard system might be interesting if you guys can find a way to remove the ability to game the matchmaking, as it won't be the same cards every game. The more important choices you can give us, the more this game will rise above the basic "tapping game" critique. I remember when I had like 10 games played, I could never imagine playing thousands of games... and I'm coming up on the 10k win mark.
