Potential MyNBA2K16 Progression Schedule

Here's how the game could progress this year based on last year's app. Maybe this will help you plan accordingly (time and money) to give you an idea of how to build up your squads and play "sell high-buy low" in Auction House.

Of course, there could be additional modes/events and different pack themes to keep things fresh. RTTC (featuring players who may have retired) starting earlier this year will create some interesting RC choices for CatDaddy.

Does any of this benefit and help the player have fun without emptying their wallets? If Yes then no it'll never happen.

CD is only in it for the $$ mate.

Of course, CD is in it for the money. Just wanted to give a heads up to the newer players who may not know what they're in for.

This app (like many freemium games) is basically balancing the business aspects like arcade (pay per play), subscription (pay on timely basis), and console (pay once) games do while keeping the door open for free players.

What could make this really interesting is to somehow have material items connected to the app that could give some value after the year is over and everything disappears. The "next evolution" could be to have trading cards and player figurines with codes and/or chips that would give special players and features in the console game and app (like Skylanders, Nintendo amiibo, Disney Infinity, etc.). Of course, only the business aspects (licenses b/t different companies in different industries, execution, cost, etc.) can really keep this from happening.

Basically, I just treat this game as a quick, portable replacement to my past hobbies of collecting trading cards & figures and console/handheld gaming. Therefore, whatever I do spend on the game, I don't have regrets.

True that, Just don't feel like CD has the gamers best interests in heart. But good luck with this man. And yeah physical cards would be epic haha

One note. Apple will never allow the PO tier to release in April since CD won't submit the update until playoff teams are finalized. Apple just takes too long to approve updates. It will more than likely be in the first or second week of May.

Eh, you never know how updates may have changed. I've noticed a few differences this year, for instance the last batch of cards they added a few days after the update. Last year was definitely a let down when teams were already bounced out of the playoffs, then the cards released. Perhaps they have learned, and have a new solution this year.

Regardless, thanks for the list. It's nice to have a refresher of last year out there. Although for some reason, I see Star cards coming sooner than last year, and possibly and additional tier added in before or after playoff. Thinking back to last year, I spent a bit of money when the game came out, when Star Tier came out, and when Playoff tier came out. Following the top grossing games, MyNBA climbed the list at the drop of each tier. Therefore, I could definitely seem them slipping in one more this year. Just a thought though.

They didn't release Star Cards for Christmas last year? That'd be the timing I'd be targeting if I were in CD's shoes!

Naw it's better to take all that Christmas money on cards that will be irrelevant in two weeks. Than you can double dip and make even more money.

I like the way you think. I just figured something big will happen prior to the year ending so that it looks good on the Q4 report. Everybody's got a boss! And let's be honest, power creep will happen on a weekly basis.

Updated Post #1 with new and additional information.

Personally, I'd like to see a Bucks event in Star or Playoff tier with Kareem (or Lew Alcindor at the time) as the headliner. 70-71 RttC with Kareem/Oscar come to mind, or a RC with those two as top tier rewards with 2001 Ray Allen as 3rd best card! And I do see Glenn Robinson and Michael Redd both in the 2k16 PC MyTeam version...

Thanksgiving coming up -- wonder what event and teams we'll see! Post what teams and/or players you'd like to see in the future! (NOTE: You can check for licensed players in console/PC game.) I'm sure not all of their events are planned yet!

This is good stuff CAM. Great to visualize what may happen. I really hope they mix it up. Following the same release schedule as last year will be boring. Will probably have no incentive to then play 2k17 since it will be too much of the same again.

Can anyone speak to the differences or similarities between '14 and '15? I imagine if they changed 15 they would attempt to also change 16 right?

On Twitter, I suggested more kinds of events like a three-on-three tournament and short events with small prizes leading up to larger prizes. They said, "Sounds like a good idea. We have some plans for the future."

14 was very basic. cards were common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Playoff tier came around for playoff time. There were no tiers for QG and season(correct me if I'm wrong). Card drop rates were random and no limits on energy. It seems like RC started a few months into the season. No AH. Proing cards was the same as 15. I think that's about it.
