Collector Goal

I'm curious what others are doing when they get the collector goal. For a while now, I've been switching to the Lakers (I weep every time) for the duration of the goal, as they have the most junk cards available. As bad a taste as it leaves in my mouth, it works every time.

But I'm on that goal again, and this time it doesn't seem to be helping. Worse still, I've counted the Spurs I've drawn, and there have been far more of them.

Do others switch teams to complete this goal too?

Does anyone have any idea if the algorithm randomly chooses the player from the entire set or if it randomly chooses the team, then randomly chooses the player?

random distributions are randoms. sometimes it will work out, sometimes it won't.

fortunately, my favorite team also meshes pretty well with the collector goal, so I don't need to change.

It's just simple probabilities. Pick the team with the most common/uncommon as those cards seem to drop at the same rate.

Lakers and Nets are the only 2 teams with 6 common/uncommons. Hornets have 5. Just have a look in your card collection catalog to confirm.

Edit: If you really want to be the most efficient about it, the Lakers are the best bet. They have the most number of cards in almost every tier.

i'm saying that when you get cards at random from random teams sometimes you will get dry streaks or dry spells. that's what random distributions look like.

it's highly unlikely that the game specifically gives you certain kinds of cards because of the time of day or when you are on a certain goal. frankly, that seems like unnecessary complexity in a program that a programmer would want to avoid.

I never mentioned anything about time of day or the algorithm changing while on a goal.

My two questions were:

1. Do others switch teams to complete this goal too?
2. Does anyone have any idea if the algorithm randomly chooses the player from the entire set or if it randomly chooses the team, then randomly chooses the player?

Notice, the word "randomly" in there. In other words, is it straight up

random player?

OR

random team, then random player from that team?

1. Yes almost everyone switches teams.
2. Random player is chosen, not random team first.

Same as hatemaker. I switch to PHI or BRK. Takes a while but I generally will get there within a loose day or two of playing.

I used to use the Nets, but for what ever reason I seem to draft a lot of Wizards. So I have switched to Washington the last couple of times.

I never change my team. I'm the Bulls.

What I have noticed though is that when I don't have that goal, I seem to pick those Bulls players way more frequently than when I do have the goal. I'm sure it's probably just random that happens like that but I wonder if it's possible that there's some sort of correlation there where the drop rates for cards of your favorite team is lowered when that goal is up.

I just stick with the Celtics and usually can finish it within a day or 2

I'm sure it's probably just random that happens like that but I wonder if it's possible that there's some sort of correlation there where the drop rates for cards of your favorite team is lowered when that goal is up.

I wouldn't put it past ControlDaddy to micromanage like that.

Have the challenge at the moment and after going well the first few times getting it this one and the last one i did i am struggling to get the cards.

I have switched teams roughly every 10 games (Knicks, Nets, Philly) and still have 0 cards.
