I'm not a free player myself but I do see their personal achievement trying to stay as a free player when the game itself gradually becoming pay to win. Many of the top players from last year and regular here retired seeing the direction CD is going. Last year you can be elite top players (full POTG and RC deck) while maintaining free player status, it's NOT possible this year. While it's true you don't have to get the best card in game, but it's our human nature that makes us want to get the best available.
While I completely agree to the fact it's our human nature to have the best of the best cards I have to disagree with most of everything else you said. I played a RTTC on your team and I think about 1/2 of the players bought packs and almost everyone else has a farm account for RP, again nothing wrong with that just saying we don't represent the majority of players is all

I just don't understand why they feel it is okay to single out free players like me who have to go to school, even if I'm willing to devote an entire weekend and even hotstreak a bit.
You're the extreme case but if you did it before then I would think 2 big HS packs would get you there now

I know the title is vague but I'm sure OP wanted to know how those who participated on Rivals clashes especially star tier (top 500) feel about the new structure. To put it bluntly, those who participated wouldn't be to pleased with the new format. Those who doesn't play Rivals clash or think that it's worth the grind wouldn't care much. Rivals clash give rewards for those who grinds which majority of em are free players. In this context players like lazypotato are majority, there are many grinders like him out there. If you look at RC leaderboard now, you can see how teams do not like the new format by their slogan. The degree of difficulty of Rivals clash and RTTC is night and day, you can tell by the amount of people who have RTTC cards vs Rivals clash cards. Making RC harder now and leaving RTTC the same is pretty obvious move to me. Like I mentioned before, I wouldn't mind at all if top 100 was done from the very beginning.

As for my team, I know my officers are spenders but unfortunately 1 RTTC event on our reserve team doesn't show all the previous Rival clashes that we played and constantly in top 10 since the beginning (leg tier). The members that joined the grind and no longer around are free players. They spend time to play Rivals clash and not so much completing RTTC (hence I always mentioned on our recruitment thread not to worry for RTTC since the officers got that covered)

I agree for anyone that plays RC this has to feel like a punch in the gut, I see teams hate it because they have to play and spend more to finish in the same place. I think with the trend that CD has made every tier subsequently harder it was naive to think RC for PO was going to remain untouched. There is no way the majority of players are like lazypotato, you can't honestly believe that. Yes the majority of players are free, completely agree with that, but as I pointed out before among those free players (not people that farm other accounts) I wouldn't say more than 10-20 consistently finish top 500 so although you're absolutely right about most players being free players they aren't the ones that finish high in any events on a consistent basis. Also I wasn't saying you guys spend for RC (there isn't really an efficient way to spend in RC) was just saying most people in top 500 are spenders in 1 way or another and therefor aren't part of the majority.

Most of us are aware and not naive to know that things would change on PO tier, Many thought RC would be top 200/250 seeing the trend of cutting in half (1000 to 500), cutting it down to 100 is extreme. While there are many legit elite players on top 100 spot, there are also botters who took many spots up there.

Frankly there is a big pool of free grinders since this game is world wide after all. Part of the reason my team changed our name from "East Coast legs" into Cosmic is because we have many players from different parts of the world. Some countries in eastern europe/asia who have restriction on purchasing credits/limited access on playstore/appstore, players on countries that don't have luxury to buy credits due to their economy situation, middle/high school kids who play this game, etc. There are many avid gamers out there who don't spend money but have the time to grind on this game. Even half of my current main team right now are free players

My point is to find balance where player like lazypotato will even have a chance to compete for Rivals clash card. You can't honestly believe he can constantly compete moving forward at top 100 to get RC card like he has done previously.

It sucks but someone that pays for the game should have a distinct advantage compared to free players and they really don't. I think you hit on the main issue that a good portion of top 100 or 500 or 1000 whatever the cutoff is uses a bot.

Re: Only top 100 get rc card. Love it or hate it?

Since I had time anyway this weekend, I tried to see how many points were required to get into the top 1k, and get a somewhat meaningful reward for the time spent. As others have pointed out, spending RP on hotstreaks unless you're going for the top 100 is meaningless, as it's almost definitely better to just grab the card or a similar one off the AH.

So with consistent play for the whole event, I am now slightly above 4k points. I only play +5 games, with the occasional HS reward that pops up. I've spent the entire day between 1200-1300 ranking. This type of grinding is brutal and inane, just to get a PO card, even if it's foil.

What I find lacking is that instead of cutting off the PO rewards at 1k rank, why not have a non-foil PO card from ranks 1k-2/3k instead? That way I won't feel like I have to bite the pillow, *** up, with CatDaddy going in dry. (Apologies if the analogy is exaggerated.)

I do understand they want to implement a level of exclusivity for the top rewards, but let's face it, that train left the station at release. How many people here actually have any use for anything else than a PO card or better?

This past RC will definitely be my last. I have sacrificed spending many weekends with friends and family to grind in RC. Now that they moved it ro top 100, I can only imagine how much money one would have to spend on credits to make it to 100

Like the decision, means i'am out for RC events. Grinding for a regular PO Card is pointless and i don't have the Time to go for Top 100. I normaly finished between Rank 360-480, that was already no fun, now its just crazy.

Just checked the 2 Last Events on NBA2K15. I finished RANK 20 and 22 and had around 25K Points. Now 25K are only good to finish Top 100.

Looking at the Top Players. did they really play or use bots???

What i know for NBA2K17-i will defenitly spend NO money and save all my wild cards for PO Tier, will not sacrifice sleep and RP or grind hard on RC Events and RTTC, i'am just going to be a casual free player

Same here, I'll play super casually with QG, BTC, and seasons and mess around with events, but will save all resources for PO tier.

Especially now that Bucks have decent shot at playoffs next year if they can revamp their bench!

I am a casual free player and it sucks due to the match making. It gets annoying running into a bunch of quick game decks in a row that you have no chance of beating. I guess they wouldn't have many sales though if they stuck you with only people you had a chance of beating lol
