it only works if you do this before the first game of a new nba season?

I've never tried it mid season, and now that I've tried I couldn't get it to work. If you can't get it to work type %appdata% into the Windows search box and go to the folder Roaming>2K Sports>NBA2K13 and put the Saves folder on the desktop. Do the guide and start a new season until it works. Save it. After that, merge the save file on the desktop with the new one created in it's place.

Honestly, I would've thought that we would have a patch. Even the WiiU got one as laugable as that system is.

Believe last year it came out around March-April so there is still a small chance.

i believe they have totally abandoned pc going forward. No patch, and I doubt we see 2k14 on pc.

Man. Really enjoyed the insane graphics on PC. Probably never going to get any better than this game right here, because I highly doubt I will ever get the next gen consoles, Was really happy to have a PC so I could skip the septennial console wars.

Past years PC patch always comes after the xbox and ps3 price drops....search with Google and you'll find it. So I suppose we'll get the patch just after the price drop..
