    PC or Console Version

Is the PC version worth it over the console version? I know mods are available and I'm huge modding fan; however, I've never really got into sports games on the PC because they are horribly ported step-children usually. I was thinking about picking up the game this afternoon, but unsure which version to go with. Also, I'm not worried about my PC being able to run it well since I just did a rebuild over the summer.

    Any thoughts are appreciated.

    Re: PC or Console Version

i have pc and 360 versions. Very similar for offline gameplay. I am using 360 controller with the pc.

    pc cons-

    online.

i think there are some issues, read through the threads here. i never play online so that doesnt affect me. i play offline association or season mode primarily.

allstar weekend stuff- and missing modes. again, read through threads as pc missing some modes/additions

    patch comes much later

fewer rosters early on - 360 gets more attention early. os community does a good job editing 360 version as much as they can

so if you play online, probably best to go 360.
ps3 would be 3rd for me as editing options are severely limited

    pc pros-

    $-cheaper price

rosters available now are slimm and alby
slimm has solid edits and shares his thought process on how to edit- probably no further edits from him, but current roster is sound

alby usually edits his rosters throughout the season.

once reditor hits, insane amount of teams/seasons should be available, all with correct portraits, c-faces, etc.

2k12 had crazy amount of rosters/mods available.

    offline I prefer pc.

I am able to play on a laptop, so I can get more games in when I am traveling, or hook up to hdtv at home, helps me finish /go further in an association, than i could on the 360 only.

Basically if you're an offline player you should definately get the PC version, it looks like it's a hundred times better than the console version.

But if you're a big online player, I've read that the PC version pretty much sucks so you should definately get the console version.

Now, since I got a new comp, PC is my preference. 90 FPS!

          Re: PC or Console Version

Thanks for the inputs. I usually play offline and just rebuilt my PC back in August. Also, I play most games on my PC with an X360 controller, so that wouldn't be anything new. My only concern was some of the missing stuff like MyTeam, VC, etc. and whether or not that was worth the extra $20.

I prefer PC but it doesn't come without drawbacks. I've played 20 hours of 2K13 with a flawless 60fps locked but I updated my graphics drivers and my performance has tanked to a stuttery mess. These drivers give me a huge performance boost in other games like Far Cry 3 and Assassins Creed 3 so 2K goes back on the virtual shelf.

You aren't going to run into problems like this on console.

I had the same issue, I posted in the beta driver feedback on nvidia.com. I was also able to find a couple of others online who were complaining about stuttering with the new beta drivers.

Even though the beta drivers increase performance in AC3, I rolled back to the lastest certified driver (306.97) and the stuttering is gone. I'll stick with these drivers until a new certified driver is released. I played 2K13 too much to justify using the beta drivers.

I only have a few issues with the PC version, delayed patches and whatever things like ASG that they take out of the PC version. The price though can't be beat.

PC if your a offline player. But if your big into online play, then get the console version. But the PC version is by far the superior version. Mods really make up for most of the issues with the PC version.

I have both. 360 is better. If you have a crazy gaming pc and can max everything out at 60fps and like to play single player, then maybe you will like pc better, but if you can't check off all of those, the 360 one is better. The only better thing about PC is the ability to mod the game. The price isn't that great, because of all the things the PC version is lacking.

                          also i wanted to add

That even with all of 2k13 flaws (offensive rebounds) the PC version of 2k is still strickly for THE PEOPLE. The community has full control of this game. The PC community has some of the deepest fans ive ever seen in a game. The modders, the created 2k file programs, the dedication, local programers, and more.....they all unite as one community. With the PC were left alone to fend for ourselves. The 2k developers dropped off their game at the door and leave us like orphins lol....Personally now, i can say that im completely done with the 360 as a whole. The graphics look so pale now compared to the PC, and im not just talking about nba 2k, im talking about ALL games..all the 360 has imo is the online blah blah..im at home with the PC and im not leaving lol

Also i hope 2k continues to give us half games with left out modes and options, because then 2k will be cheaper every year. Plus since 2008 i suffered playing 2k on the 360 due to these "underground" weird changes or updates made to the game every year..on the 360, i swear man every time im in a perfect place with the 2k gameplay, then 2k CHANGES something againnn...never again for 360....never........again (pain in my voice)

                          just a thought

It's not good. I updated to the newest certified drivers just released and 2K is still running at 30fps as opposed to the previous locked 60. Sometimes PC gaming can make you tear your hair out!

With earlier drivers, the V-synch feature was not controllable by the Nvidia control panel, and so you had to enable it within the game itself. After the latest install, the ingame control conflicted with the control panel control.

Once I turned V-synch off ingame and let the control panel control it, any issues I had with the new driver went away.
